my opinion on how to improve against infinity. [CLOSED]

Now i know there is lots of debate about which game will do better already.
needless to say i am supporting swap force, i haven't looked much into infinity at all.
as far as i can tell swap force has some high winning qualities as it is eg - lightcores, swapability, a back catalogue of figures. Many have invested alot in skylanders (such as myself) and they will continue to do so, plus its nice that some figures do things, glow, light up, swap. As far as I've seen Disney figures do not.
so skylanders has some strong driving force.
I'm not touching on gameplay as i feel both should be regarded as different games in that regard.
but figure wise despite all i just said, Disney has one big push, characters kids already know and love. Skylanders is a little more trial and error in that regard, who knows which new characters will succeed?
take giants for example, the new 8 core landers, if i really think about it, i didn't much care for them, i preferred the forgotten 8.
but i digress.
my opinion is Activision needs to capitalise on some of this familiarity that Disney will instantly have, and begin to release more familiar faces, not in swap force necessarily, but in the next one.
and i don't mean just Flynn and cali figures, i mean what loads have said before, characters from the original series such as hunter etc, and introduce more franchise's they own, such as crash and characters from that series.
i know people have mentioned a want for such characters before, but now i feel some familarity on the shelves will go a long way.

I agree with Crash and Hunter figures (Secret life long dream ._.). But I do like how Skylanders offer fresh, new characters to play with.
And those characters end up becoming a bit iconic anyway (E.g. Gill Grunt, Stealth elf, Triggs). Most of the DI character selection looks a little
stale to me and could use some work - that said, Skylanders doesn't exactly have a perfect group of characters but that's okay 'cause we all like different things (:

In my opinion. I think the next Skylanders game will be a big success if they add more than 2 players; not necessarily online, just maybe four players or something.

And in battle zones you can have 2 teams with 2 people on it. So you and your friend can fight against your other friends.

Acti already messed up with Swap Force...we'll see what becomes of it. 4 player teams, network play, and branching content was the minimum I wanted for Swap...what I'm getting is more of the same, except even fewer chapters. They lost credibility by having to re-write their core and move it to a different platfom---and lost an opportunity to be at least even playing field with Infinity in regards to those features.

The never ending barrage of figures and not enough content and features will equate to a death spiral. Their only save I think is if they offer up patches and additional content/features after the game ships. We'll see.

when you think about, they can't really mess up. While we see it as messed up, they see the game how they want it to be.

The bottom line is the bottom line. If enough of us vote with our wallets, maybe they'll come around. I see more dissension this time...just a feeling.

Look, the only way we get Activision to realize that we need theese features in the next game is to buy less! I am gonna buy less figures than I did in Giants because not all apeall to me. If less and less people buy, Activision is gonna have to get themselves back into the spotlight by adding online. I think that Infinity is a blessing in disguise as Activision will realise that they have real competion, and the competion will do well because of ONLINE.

^Agreed, I welcome Infinity with open arms. Competition ALWAYS helps the consumer. I think Acti has rested on their laurels. The swapping is insanely cool and awesome---the rest of this year's game are leftovers with hi-def. Glad to hear that the character models isn't hitting the mark as much as previous characters...thought it was just me.

Imagine if Skylanders allowed for the creation of levels... OH MY GOD! That's something I would devote time to making and downloading, because it keeps you tied over until each new game.

Not sure about Crash. Skylander's biggest advantage is it's fresh original characters.

Crash isn't going to be a Skylander at all. Vicarious Vision have stated Crash is too different from Spyro to fit in with Skylanders.

GC: Is there any reason why he couldn’t appear in a Skylanders game?

GB: Well, Crash Bandicoot is a very different personality to Spyro…

GC: But if I was Activision and I wanted to bring back Crash Bandicoot I would’ve thought a cameo in Skylanders would be a pretty good start.

GB: I think the best way to think about that is the same question you asked about Transformers and Spider-Man. Because the way I think about it personally is that Crash Bandicoot is a great IP, that’s had great game experiences in the past, but it’s very different than what Skylanders is today. That’s the way I think about it.

Do Infinity toys articulate? If they do or not, Skylanders figures should definitely introduce more real world interaction in the future. It doesn't matter much to me, since I'm an adult, but kids would love to be able to actually play with their toys. Of course the figures would have to work in game with just the base in the event of lost/stolen/broken toys, but I still the option to remove repose and replace Skylanders would be pretty sweet. It might also be cool if specific poses unlocked different things in game, though I've no idea how they'd do that, or what could be unlocked. Maybe more attack power with a fierce pose, more defense with a defensive pose, speed with a running pose, etc.

Here's how Spyroluva's idea would work there would be six different spots on the base that were footprints of the character and let's say the character leveled up u would unlock a new pose it said left foot spot 1 right foot spot 2 it would give you like +10 speed

What about other changes going on around the toy, like reactions to heat, cold, light, dark, sound, movement, etc? Maybe putting the toy somewhere dark like under a cloth would make it stealthy and let you sneak up on enemies or make enemies more likely to miss, and direct light would make them faster/stronger. But the only way that could be done and still be called fair is if it only worked for a time. Is there a way the portal could tell if a toy had been left in the sun or in a box before playing? How could they make something like that work?

That would probably happen in a later game.

How would that work though? Would they program it to pick up temperature? Say... That's actually not a bad idea, provided putting a toy in cold/warm water wouldn't damage it. If it would I guess using friction (rubbing it) to warm it or placing it on an ice pack could work too.

I already had an idea about that, normal they would be on their normal element (suppose water) and in warm water they would change to, fire if that was the contrary element.

I meant how would the toys know they'd been in light, dark, cold or warm?

I'm not saying stop releasing new characters, they definitely should continue, its one innovation skylanders has, but adding a few familiars will definitely help, hunter would fit for sure, even Sheila the kangaroo.
I know one thing for fact, if they just released one special adventure pack, that had 'classic spyro' from the original series as the figure, the location item would be a portal from the original series which he glided through, the items could be classic sparx on a gem, and a sheep.
the story could easily be some time shift type thing, no reason both spyros can't kick around, and the pack would sell like its the only one on earth.
also battles between the two would be interesting smilie
