no game impact at all... would have been something cool for Activision to think about. My wife said it would have been cool if they included a code or something to unlock something exclusive in-game.

That wouldn't have been possible unless they thought of it over a year ago. To unlock exclusive content, they would have had to INCLUDE exclusive content, program it into the game. I doubt this was planned that far in advance, considering how little planning had to go into it. Also that would mean putting an RFID tag in them, to be readable by the game, significantly increasing the value of making each figure, right now they're just cheap plastic.

So nice idea, but pretty much impossible. smilie

I think we were thinking of something more along the lines of a webcode (and yes, I know the webcodes don't work on the Xbox 360,PS3, or Nintendo Console versions of Skylanders) that would activate something unique.

At least Pokemon McDonalds toys came with exclusive TCG Cards... something worthwhile collecting the toys for.

They could have used the Sidekick chips. Or the Vault chip.
To too expensive, those ones aren't writable and it shouldn't be much more expensive than any other electronic toy they've offered.

This is the first time in my life I've gotten a McDonald's toy. Aren't they always just plastic? Do they ever have electronics in them?

Once upon a time, on two occasions they had some cheap little handheld video-game type thing. It wasn't anything speical, kind of like a Game & Watch game. There was 1 for like each Sonic character and a few other Sega characters as well.

Well the McDonalds Tree Rex has a LED in his arm.

I remember quite a few years back they had electronic Disney/Pixar toys that interacted with included game boards using a technology called "intelli-ink" (I think itt was called). You place the toy on certain parts of the cardboard board and it would set off lights or sound, much like an RFID chip would.
