Best storage solution for loose Skylanders? [CLOSED]

Title says it all.

I currently am keeping mine in a storage tub, but I've noticed recently that some of my Skylanders are getting paint rubbed off in certain places from knocking against each other.

If people could provide pics of what they are using, that would be great. Also, if you've bought it within Australia (where I'm from) could you let me know which store you bought it from.

Cheers

I had some old cabinets in my garage for the longest time just sitting there and collecting dust. One day after trying to think of a good storage area for my skylanders as well, I had an idea, why not use the cabinets. After setting them up the way I wanted and filling them with my figures, it turned out to be a way better storage area than expected! I know this doesn't really help you with where you can buy something but sometimes you can create a great storage idea that keeps the toys safe and looks nice with stuff you already have in your home. Maybe something you've overlooked hundreds of times can be exactly what you're looking for.

For the ones we don't have on a shelf for display and easy access we use Christmas ornament boxes. It's a big plastic tub with cardboard dividers that make the perfect size squares for the skylanders to fit.

I use hardware organizers since they have separate compartments- I have 6 total to store every figure from SSA and Giants, plus all the items/locations/sidekicks/cards, etc... basically everything but the portals!! smilie The second photo is an image of every box's outside labeling and opened to show the compartments... I used a link for the second image since it's pretty large! Prior to this storage method, I had used two clear rubbermaid containers (one for SSA and one for Giants), but disliked how the figures rubbed against each other... hope this helps!! smilie

I just use a large plastic bin, and I made very nice dividers out of a old pizza box to keep them from rubbing against each other. I even made a shelf, since the box was rather tall, so I could fit more Skylanders! :3

I am running out of room though... I might need another box...

Right now, I got a soft SSA case for Christmas and it is stuffed to the GILLS with figures. I have all 8 giants (plus Scarlet Ninjini), no way they'd all fit, so I also have a flat box - which used to contain my cable box - which nicely fits all but Tree Rex and Legendary Bouncer. I haven't noticed any damage (beyond this wing bending or that spear bending), probably because there's no room to move, LOL! Bent items get bent back easily enough.

I recently ordered the Big Box deal from Pizza Hut, and find the big box itself seems like an EXCELLENT size (if only it didn't open sideways). I'm thinking of adjusting how it opens, then doctoring up some old tissue boxes to make compartments, though it looks like the box won't fit 9 (one per element and one for locations and magic items). At the very least, the tallest Skylander is Ninjini, and the box is nicely tall enough for her.

Maybe another Big Box will do the trick. smilie

The dividers do not naturally come out of those Artbin boxes he used... the storage boxes I've used (from Walmart) do have separate slots, but the 2 large compartments on the top right fit all of the Giants figures!! smilie The image is kind of wide, so just let me know if I should edit this into a link instead! smilie

If you dont want to show it off, the stackables previously displayed worked fine. I like to show off mine, so I have the Detolf glass case from Ikea. One of them can store every character from the first two games in one unit, but it's TIIIIGGGHHHTTT.. If Swap deserves my investment I'll need another case and I'll re-org to make it more aesthetic for display purposes.

I use the ArtBin 6990AB for the Giants. They can hold multiple Giants in one slot, even though my boys only keep one in each slot. I was going to modify it by adding some padding, but haven't gotten around to it.

I took some updated pictures of the Artbin cases [9007AB, 6990AB]. Amazon does sell a shelf that you can slide the cases into, but they work stacked just as well. Besides the adventure figures, the only Skylander that needs to lie on its side is Fright Rider. He is too tall and his head gets mashed when the case is closed.

GamerDrone, Thanks for the answer and uploading pics. These art bins do seem to work rather well. If I go this route for storage, my only concern is what to do with the four variant giants! :)

I have the variants too. Scarlet Ninjini, Granite Crusher, and Legendary Bouncer are still in their original packaging. Gnarly Tree Rex is sitting on the shelf next to my speaker. I plan to open them, I just haven't gotten around to it. I plan to keep my eyes open for something that may just work for all the Giants. Regardless, the 9007AB will work great for the Swap Force.

hey guys,

sorry its been a while writing back to my own topic I started. I have decided to go with these to hold my indvidual loose Skylanders:

http://www.ultrapro.com/produc...products_id=767

there are some slightly larger ones to hold bigger Skylanders (i.e Whirlwind) and even larger ones that can hopefully hold my Giants.

I have decided to go with these because they make a nice display in a cabinet or on a shelf, and keep my Skylanders protected from dust and fingerprints, plus it stops them from knocking together to make paint rub off :-)

I tried SwapForce and Art Bin 9007AB - swappable landers cannot stay but can lay in bigger slots. So smolderdash is to tall to stay in small cell. Anyway I ordered 4 more 9007AB boxes from amazon for SwapForce landers smilie

Yes, I have. The non-swappable store in the case, but the swappables vary. The heights and widths are different based on the figure. They will store if you are willing to lay them down and remove a divider. I think one or two can actually stand in 9007AB without being mashed. Regardless, my kids are picky and want them to stand. So, I bought another 6990AB and they plan to store 2 in each slot.

I know the Swapper Skylanders wont fit in the Sort Master Juniors unless there separated, but will they fit in the Regular Sort Masters without being separated?
Like even in the Smaller compartments in the middle?
I am mainly asking because I need some where to put my 12 Giants, and I know they will fit in the bigger compartments in the Regular Sort Masters (would need 3) and then if my Swappers can fit in the smaller compartments then that would work out perfectly.

I use these:
http://www.shopworldkitchen.co...me/1098843.html

They're great. They snap together and everyone but a couple of the Giants fits standing up. I have 9 layers, one for each element and one for items and things. I didn't get them on that website, though. You can find them a lot of places. If you have a Joann Fabrics near you they give out 40% to 50% coupons constantly and you can use them on anything that's not on sale.
The only thing is if you have a ton of layers snapped together (like 9, lol) picking them up by the handle is not really advisable.

Go to Home Depot. and buy three of their "Stanley tool organizers", one for each game.

For SSA, it was a perfect fit, every skylander got their own cube, including the volcanic vault, red drill sgt, blue bash, and even flocked stumpy. the magic items all fit, the DLC packs all fit, and the sidekicks fit as well. i could even manage to put in a 3ds portal.

For giants, same story, everything fits, except for the giants...

For swapforce, everything is working so far.

I use two of these. A white, and a black.

A single one can- with a bit of squishing stuff up- fit every figure from SSA, Giants and SWAP Force.

Here's how I set mine up- one shelf for each path- they're not complete of course, but...

The SF toys are on the second to last shelves, and the variants Dark etc. are right at the bottom.
This is a pic from before SF launched, which is why those parts are cut off and some of the toys are still boxed and the cards are out(I also now have a few more non-SF toys not pictured here).
I keep my cards in binders that match the colours of their shelves. smilie

Hey gang. I know this is sort of beating a dead horse since I've been through most of the forums and haven't seen a full answer yet, but.... Has anyone found any one case that stores just the Giant figures alone? I'm talking each element and the variants of just the Giant figures.

Currently I have all my Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure characters in a Stanley XL Tool Organizer, which works great! Big thank you to all the suggested that. I'm trying to go the same route with the Giants collection and I've figured all the regular characters and their variant, plus the series 2 side kicks will fit perfectly in a XL Tool Organizer too. It's just what to do about the Giants? I'm looking for ideas that include just one case, if possible, to store them in, to minimize my Giants collection to two storage cases.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!!

We bought 6 Master Craft parts storage bins from Canadian Tire here in Canada for storing our guys inside. We had to use a KNIFE to cut out some of the built in dividers for some of the giants but on the whole they work well, I will see if I can get a picture of this.

only issue is that my wife stored hers as SSA in on GIANTS in one Swap Force in one
Me I stored as Earth Air Fire Water in one Magic Undead Life Tech in one, and now Can't add to those with swap force guys by element due to the cuts I had to make for the giants so Swap force has to be its own bin.

Also you have to store the swap guys with their parts detatched

I bought a simple black cabinet at Target. It has 8 cubes, so there is one cube for each element. All of the Adventure Packs and Battle Packs are placed on the top. It will fit all of the Spyro's Adventure, Giants, and Swap Force figures, but I am pretty sure that it will not be big enough to hold the figures for the upcoming 4th iteration of the game.

well i have a cheap solution for shelving we on pinterest and looked up cheap shelving and found some created with cardboard and have recently started making my own version and have went to walmart and got the wine boxes that have the strong dividers in it that allows me to put 1 in each and then after all i have painted the shelfs Blue for SSA, Orange for SG and Green for SSF, they are working real well and for under $20 I have decorative shelfs that look great. Before this I had one of the Gamestop Holiday Giants displays that they had out on the floor holding all the figures. But now there are just to many in the collection.

I use a duffle bag for all my skylanders, not the best way for transport as some break and paint scratches off, but it's my only option right now. I transport my Swap Force skylanders in a Target Bag so they don't get mixed up with the old ones just yet. smilie

I ended up hanging floating shelves to hold them all. I had them all in plastic bins at first, but they were just always in the way and I needed a lot more of those than the shelves. I have room to grow into Swap Force too once my kids get that whole bundle of stuff.

Those are all awesome setups. I'd take a picture of mine, but you guys know what a cardboard box looks like. Lol.
