So I’ve really loved that no two Skylanders play alike – it’s driven me to collect the whole range, and I’ve been having a lot of fun. The toys offer amazing value and all new experiences – or at least I thought so until I got Zook and Shroomboom.
Zook and Shroomboom seem awfully alike. Both are plants with ranged attacks, mushroom shields on attack 2 and mortar attacks on attack 3.

So, if you agree they are mostly the same, which do you like the best? And if you DON’T think they're mostly the same, what do you think sets them apart?

I like Zook he is awesome and he makes a good team with Boomer!

Zook is better than Shroomboom.

Zook is awesome and a total monster on Floral Defender. Shroompoop, on the other hand, is worthless garbage, and is probably the worst Life Skylander, not to mention one of, if not my least favourite Skylander of all time.

So, yes, both have similar play styles, but Zook is leagues better than Shroompoop.

Shroomboom is MUCH more powerful, but Zook is a bag of tricks; Mortars, Missiles, Shrapnel, Cacti= Craziness on the battlefield.

Zook is easier to just button mash and destroy everything. Shroomboom you have to actually aim and have skill

There are a few "zook is better" voices here, but other than Matteomax there hasn't been a lot of talk about why he's better.
I just think it's nuts that after making all the others so different, they seemed to have just kinda given up and cloned Zook when making Shroomboom.

I think Shroomboom is fun on Barrier Boost, also unique on that path.

I think Shroomboom is better on both paths because his strength.

I really like both. Two of my favorites, actually. I'd have to give the edge to Zook though, just as I personally find him more fun to play with. Shroomy can get a little tedious.

Zook I like because he is fun to play, you can AIM his mortar (big plus), and even if you choose to keep him on Artilleryman instead of Floral Defender, he can still do monster damage.

zook on floral defender S2 with wow pow and soul gem is beast. Know why? Mortar! floral defender makes cacti wherever the mortar hits. Cacti does great damage. Soul gem= when the mortar explodes, 3 other lil mortars come out in a triangle. So you get not 1, but 4 amazing cacti on ur opponents. his S2 Wow Pow makes the mortar aimable so you can aim your killer mortar which will spawn a cactus and 3 other mortars which will also spawn cacti. Zook Wins.

Shroomboom definitely does more damage, at least on Paramushroom Promotion. However, his mushroom shield is junk compared to Floral Defender Zook's cacti, even on Barrier Boost. Basically, if you want a decent defender with heavy damage, pick Shroomboom. If you're in the market for a heavy defender with above average damage, you can't go wrong with Zook.

Personally, I think Zook can be a little tedious; just Shield, Mortar, Mortar, Mortar, and keep trying to spread cacti over the field. As where Shroomboom; ShroomShield, Paratrooper, Shroomshot, Paratrooper, Shroomshot, and keep running around. That's what I do at least. I prefer Shroomboom just a little over Zook, however both can get tedious.

Zook you have to get use to him before he becomes awesome
