A prequel to The Legend Of Spyro Fanfic series explaining how Malefor learnt his powers, elements and how he unlocked the dark powers within to become the ultimate ruler of the world. It still has the basic story line with Convexity being the dark evil that possessed Malefor but also follows the story line of what we learn of Malefor in TEN. Hope you enjoy, the first chapter should be on soon.

Before I start the first Chapter I would like to give some details on the main characters...

Malefor: Malefor the dragon, the first purple Dragon but before birth he was corrupted by Convexity.

Violet: Malefor's mother, she herself ddin't beleave in the Phrophecy but when she discovered the purple egg she was amazed.

Guardians:
Spyridon - (Also known as the Chroniclor) Male, the guardian of time.
Vulcan - Male, the guardian of fire.
Crystal - Female, the guardian of ice.
Leighton - Male, the guardian of electricty.
Naser - Male, the guardian of earth.

Chapter 1: Violet's Egg

Violet lay on the stone floor of the temple. Violet was a large red Dragon. She had the symbol of the Sun on her head. She had mastered the element of fire, a talent that had please Vulcan. She heard the whispering of the five guardians out side the room. She walked closer to the door. She could hear them pondering over the small purple egg in the nesting room. "What shall we do?" Leighton said worridly. Violet peered through a small hole in the door. "It is as the phrophecy has fortold." Crystal said reasuring. Vulcan lowered his head closer to the egg. "This can only mean one thing, are worst fears have been realised." He said. Violet was confused. The guardians had told her that the phrophecy fortold a bright future for the Dragons, but what could be there worst fears. The five guardians nodded to each other and walked up to the door. Violet walked carefully back to where she had been. She lowered her head and closed her eyes.

The five of them walked through the door. Violet slowly opened one of her eyes. "All we can hope for is the best." Spyridon said. They all nodded to each other as they walked back through the door. Vulcan watched them walk through the door and walked closer to Violet. She closed her eyes. Vulcan sighed and looked down at her. This made her worrid, what were the guardians hiding from her. Vulcan walked through the door to the nesting room and followed the other guardians. Violet opened her eyes and raised her long neck and got up from the ground. She walked into the nesting room. The guardians where gone. The nest that had her hatchling's egg in stood infront of her. A rumble of thunder came from the sky above the temple. Violet walked through the door into the Dojo. She tryed to look through the glass room but the clouds where as black as ash.

Chapter 2: The Shadow

A black cloud of smoke crepaed through the edge of door. It moved around as if it had a mind of its own. Suddenly it moved directly to Violet. She fell to the floor as it shot directly through her. She felt a cold patch where the shadow had touched her scales. She looked behind her as the shadow creaped through the door to the nesting room. She closed her eyes as her head dropped to the ground. 'Violet...' A deep voice echoed in her head. 'Danger... Beware... Death... Darkness...' It said again. An image of two blazzing eyes appeared infront of her. 'The darkness will come, and you will die!' It bellowed. The eyes faded away and a dark shadow remained. Violet was woken by Vulcan. "Violet!" He yelled. She opened her eyes and groaned.

"What was that?" She asked. Vulcan looked confused. "What was what?" He said. Violet shook her head and lifted herself from the floor. She looked at Vulcan confused. "Have... Have you checked the egg?" She asked. Vulcan nodded and walked into the nesting room. She looked at the small purple egg in the nest. Vulcan turned to her. "It won't be long." He said with a smile. She folowed Vulcan into the sleeping chamber. "Vulcan if it is the purple Dragon, the one from the legend, what shall it be called?" She asked curiously. Culcan turned to her. "We will cross that bridge when we come to it, but now it is time for rest." He said. Violet nodded to him and settled down. She had been unchonchious for allmost a day and still felt sleepy. As she closed her eyes Spyridon ran through the door to the chamber. "Its! The egg!" He yelled.

There are some more but Violet decided to stay in temple as her brothers and sisters went there own ways. (She's the youngest of them all.) But there arnt many Dragons in the world at this time, its only the beginning of the Dragon race so there arnt many.

Chapter 3: Malefor The Dragon

Vulcan and Violet raised themselfs off the ground and ran towards the nesting room folowing Spyridon. The other three guardians stood infront of the nest. Violet pushed her way through them. She looked at the egg anciously as it shook in the nest. She had been waiting for this moment for months and it was finaly here, the day that she would meet her new hatchling. A crack formed around the top of the egg. The a small hole formed where the crack had been. A small dark blue eye peeped through the hole in the top of the egg. It looked worridly at the six Dragons looking down at it. The top of the shell came off as a head pocked out of the top. It shook in fear. Spyridon looked at it with worry. Violet smiled and looked down at her hatchling. "Malefor..." Spyridon whispered.

The five of them looked at him. "And your reason for saying that?" Crystal asked curiously. Spyridon looked at her. "A mysterious future for thos young Dragon, all I see is a black shadow." He said. Vulcan looked angrly at Spyridon. "Your reason is un nessesary, all that matters is a name for this young one." Vulcan said. Violet looked at her hatchling not paying attention to what the others were saying. "Malefor it is..." She said with a smile on her face. She lifted him from his egg. He had atleast ten curved golden horns, small wings and small spikes sticking from the end of his tail. She turned from the guardians and held Malefor in her hand as she walked into the sleping chamber. He wasn't very big, only the size of her hand. Malefor sat in her coiled tail as she curled down and rested on the stone floor of the temple.

One year later...

Chapter 4: Uneasy Future

Malefor opened his eyes and looked around the room. Violet, Vulcan and Leighton were lay down on the floor. He lifted himself off the ground. He walked to the door that led to the nesting room. He heard footsteps on the other side. Malefor oppened the door to the nesting room. Spyridon stood walking to the dojo. "Good morning elder." He said smiling. Spyridon looked at him worridly. Malefors smile turned to a confused face. Spyridon always looked at him like that and Malefor never understood what was going on. Crystal walked through the door from the dojo. She looked at Spyridon angrly. "Why do you do it? Who do you keep looking at him like that?" She whispered. Spyridon sighed and walked through to the dojo. Crystal folowed him and sighed. The door closed behind them. "There is a strange desturbence." Spyridon said.

He turned to Crystal. "Yes it is said that the purple Dragon will come and save this world from the darkness of one evil but what darkness? What is there to be defeated?" He asked. Crystal rolled her eyes, she knew that he didn't trust Malefor. "You need to rest Spyridon. The problem with you is that you don't know where to stop." She said. Spyridon looked at her directly in her eyes. "Its just, when I look at Malefor I don't look at Malefor I look at a shadow. A creature that is full of hate and death and darkness." He said. Crystal sighed in anger. "See, you don't know when to quit. Just stop with the darkness and the evil and the deaths apon deaths!" She yelled. Spyridon turned around and walked outside the temple. "Where are you going?" Crystal asked. Spyridon walked outside the temple and looked at the forest infront of him.

Chapter 5: The Blazing Inferno

Malefor had told Violet that he was going to explore outside the temple. Malefor set off outside the temple He looked at the trees around him, he felt the fresh summer air blow through his wings and the bright sun on his purple scales. He climbed up the surounding hills around the temple and looked at the blue sky above him. As he reached the top of the hill he could see a all over the realms. The rivers twisted around the islands, the green trees swayed in the breaze. He had never seen anything like it but it was just outside his home. He started walking back down the hill. Suddenly he began to smell something strange. He smelt a burning smell in his nose. He saw smoke rising from his nose. He began running around pannicing. He couldn't blow out the smoke. He breathed out of his nose and a burst of flame came out and burnt the grass infront of him.

"What? What was that!" He said worridly. He ran down the hill to the temple. He opened the door but didn't dare look back. He walked through the door to and walked to the sleeping chamber. Vulcan, Violet, Crystal and Naser slept in the room. He walked up to Violet carefully. She lay on the floor asleep. "Mother..." He whispered. She opened her eyes smiling at him. "Back soon?" She asked. Malefor stood worridly. "Whats the matter?" She asked. He closed his eyes and shook his head. "I don't know. I was outside on the hill and then this smoke started comming out of my nose." He said sounding worridly. Violet lifted her head with a smile on her face. "Fire?" She asked. Malefor looked down at the floor and nodded worrdly. Violet smiled and raised Malefors head. "Vulcan." Violet yelled. "Malefor is a Fire Dragon." She continued. Vulcan raised his head in delight. "Excelent!" He yelled.

Chapter 5: Master Of Fire

"Malefor..." Vulcan said to him. Malefor turned around and looked at him. "Did I do something wrong?" He asked nerviously. Vulcan shook his head and walked towards the door that lead to the nesting room. "Come..." Vulcan said. Malefor still looked worried. He turned his head to Violet. She nodded with a smile on her face. He smilied back but still felt worried deep down inside. Spyridon stood in the nesting room whispering to Crystal. He galired at Malefor as he walked past folowing Vulcan into the Dojo. Vulcan stopped looking down at Malefor. "It seams that today you learnt the fire breath?" He said. He turned around and walked to the other end of the room. "Yes elder." Malefor said worridly. He folowed Vulcan. "Its not very suprising, after all your mother can breath fire just as I can. I want to teach you the how to controll and master the element of fire." Vulcan said. Malefor's eyes widened in dissbeleaf.

A small scarecrow appeared in the centre of the circle in the middle of the room. "I want you to burn that dummy." Vulcan said. Malefor walked up to it. He turned his head to Vulcan and back to the dummy. He couldn't do anything. He wanted to but he didn't know how. "I can't do it..." He sighed lowering his head. Vulcan sighed and walked up to him. "Malefor its not that you can't do it, its that your mind isn't letting you. You have to beleve, close your eyes and feel the fire." Vulcan said. Malefor closed his eyes. He let the heat consume him and flow through him. Suddenly without thinking Malefor released a burt of flames from his mouth. He opened his eyes to see a pile of ash on the floor. "Brilliant!" Vulcan yelled. Vulcan walked out of the circle and watched Malefor. "What now elder?" Malefor asked. Vulcan smilied to him and looked behind Malefor.

Malefor turned around and looked behind him. Two dummys were running towards him. "Feel the fire Malefor. Trust in yourself." Vulcan said. Malefor rand towards them and burnt them with his flame breath. Malefor looked infront of him in amazement. "Now, it gets a bit harder." Vulcan said. Malefor grinned and turned around. "Bring it!" He said. A large dummy appeared in the centre of the room. "Charge... Charge as fast as you can. But don't forget, feel the fire." Vulcan said. The large dummy walked closer to Malefor. He closed his eyes and without knowing he had charged through the dummy. He opened his eyes and looked at the dummy. A burning hole remained in the dummy. He looked infront of him. Spyridon stood looking down at him. Spyridon smilied. "Good work, but there is still one more test." Spyridon said. Vukcan shook his head to Spyridon.

"He's to young..." Vulcan said. Malefor looked at him angrly. "Don't I get a say in this? What do I have to do?" He said. Vulcan looked at the centre of the room. Malefor walked to the centre. "Are you sure your ready?" Vulcan said. Malefor nodded. "Now, close your eyes and when I say so you need to release you ultimate attack." Vulcan said. Malefor looked confused. "What do you mean?" He said. Spyridon walked up to Malefor. "Just feel the power of the ancestors flow through you." He said. Spyridon stepped back. Malefor closed his eyes. He heard large footsteps comming closer to him. "Now!" Vulcan said. Malefor felt himsefl being lifted from the ground he opened his eyes and with one large blast the enemys around him were destroyed. Malefor fell to the floor gasping for breath. "I told you he was too young!" Vulcan said.

Also I would just like to say, the reason because Malefor was gasping for breath was because they didn't have gems seeing as Malefor was the one that started using them as energy.

Chapter 6: His Darkness

'Malefor...' A deep voice echoed in his head. He opened his eyes and found himself standing on a stone floor with a large arch in the centre. A purple beam of light went through the arch. 'Do not worry...' The voice said. Malefor walked around. Three more stone arches stood in a square around the purple beam. "Where... Where are we? Who are you?" He said worridly. The voice bellowed. 'My home... My realm...' He said. Malefor walked back slowly. He found the edge of the stone platform. He stopped and looked down. The ground was being pulled into the purple beam. "But... Who are you?" Malefor asked. There was a long silence. Two eyes could be faintly seen in the purple beam. 'Who am I? I am the darkness of the world. I am your shadow, the darkness that is left when the sun sets, the night sky that you look up at...' The voice echoed.

"Your name! Whats your name!" Malefor yelled. The voice bellowed. 'Your a very wise Dragon, very brave to ask me my name. No one in existance has knoledge of me, and I intend to keep it that way' He said. Malefor walked closer to the purple beam. "Whats this then?" He asked. The eyes looked down at him. 'It is a portal that leads to another realm.' The voice said again.Malefor stepped back. "Wait. So your eyes, your realy looking at me from the other realms?" Malefor asked. The voice bellowed again. 'Indeed a cleaver mind, you are quite correct.' He echoed. Malefor walked back slowly. "Then, if thats a portal why don't you come through rather than hiding like a coward?" He said. The eyes narowed in anger. A large black cloud came out of the portal. Purple lightning flashed around it.

Chapter 7: Shadows Revenge

The shadow got closer and closer to Malefor. He stepped back in worry. A bellow came from the shadow. "Who's the coward now?" He grinned. Malefor pantted in worry. "What... What do you want with me..." He said worridly. The shadow seeped back into the purple beam. "Never forget, you are now an enemy of the darkness, Malefor." The shadow said as it dissapeared into the purple beam. "How... How do you know my name?" Malefor asked. Two eyes appeared once more in the purple beam. 'I know more than you could imagain young one...' It echoed. Malefor looked worridly at the eyes. "But... What do you mean. I... I don't want to be anyone's enemy..." Malefor said worridly. The voice bellowed. 'Im afrade that is not your choise. Our destinys are always chosen for us, and you just decided to choose it for yourself.' It echoed again.

"Malefor! Malefor!" Violet yelled. Malefor opened his eyes with his mother Violet looking down at him. "What... What happened?" He said confused. Violet looked at Spyridon. He stood behind them. "Never mind." She said. Malefor lifted his head and looked around. He was in the sleeping chamber. "But... What... What was that!" He said as he got up quickly from the floor. Looked at him confused. "Malefor, its ok. Calm down." She said. Malefor looked at her breathing quickly. "Sorry, never mind." He said. Vulcan walked through the door. "Violet, has he recovered." Vulcan said. Malefor turned around and nodded to him. Vulcan walked up to him. "You gave us quite a scare young one. Are you alright now?" He asked. Malefor nodded to him. "Yes elder, and thank you for your teachings." He said smiling. Vulcan smilied back. "There will be more of your training, but that won't be untill you are older." He said walking out of the room.

Chapter 8: A Dark Sleep

Malefor felt tierd. He walked to the corner of the room and fell on the floor asleep. All he could see was a pitch black. Suddenly he began to hear whispering. 'Malefor...' A voice echoed. In the pitch black two glowing white eyes appeared. 'I know where you are...' The voice said. Malefor knew that it was the same shadow as Malefor had seen before. 'You can't forget me... You cant hide from my shadow...' They said. Malefor breathed quickly in pannic. 'Remember... Our paths are chosen for us and I can see yours. A world of death and darkness, and you will be its dark master...' They said. He wanted to run away from the shadow, run away and forget it had ever happened and continue his normal life. "Just... Just leave me alone..." Malefor said looking down at the floor. The voice bellowed.

'A strong mind, but not a strong spirit. Something is blocking your way to having ultimate power, someone.' The voice echoed. Malefor looked at the two eyes angrly. "And thats you!" He yelled. The voice bellowed again. 'No. When you wake up they will be there. You will look down at them in anger and then, when you feel frustrated and angry you will kill them.' The voice bellowe. Malefor jumped and flew towards the eyes. "Shut up! Just shut up!" He yelled. With that he opened his eyes and lifted his head. He looked around the room. He was alone in the sleeping chamber. He lowered his head to the ground and looked up at the celing. "Whats happening. What is that!" He whispered. He didn't want to give in to the darkness. He wanted a normal life, but this shadow was stopping him.

The next day...

Chapter 9: The Cold Soul

Malefor raised his head from the ground. Violet lay next to him. Malefor felt cold. He looked around the room. None of the guardians were there. Malefor stood up and walked out of the room shivering as he walked. Vulcan walked past him and turned to look at him. "Are you alright?" He asked. Malefor looked up at him. He shook his head still shivering. Vulcan looked at him confused. "This is most unusual." He said. He walked closer to Malefor. "Try breathing some of that fire of your's, it should make you warmer." Vulcan said. Malefor nodded slowly. He closed his eyes and tryed to fell the warmth of the fire. Nothing happened. He still felt as cold as ice. Malefor shook his head. Vulcan looked confused at him and turned around to the door. "Wait here." He said. Malefor nodded. Vulcan walked through the door.

Malefor stood in the centre of the room and tryed to warm himself. Nothing happened, he felt colder and colder. He closed his eyes and with one breath icicles came from his mouth and got stuck in the floor infront of him. He reached out and felt there cold smooth surface. He looked at them in amazment. He was just about to run to find Vulcan but as soon as he did Vulcan walked through the door with Crystal folowing him. They both looked at the icicles in amazement. Crystal looked at Vulcan as he looked back at her. Crystal walked past Malefor into the Dojo. Malefor looked at Vulcan. He nodded to him. "I think she wants to talk to you." He said smiling. Malefor nodded and ran into the Dojo folowing Crystal. "Does this mean... Mean I can breath ice?" He said confused. She turned her long neck and nodded to him.

Chapter 10: The Ice Dragon

Crystal walked to the edge of the large circle marked in the centre of the room. "Seing as you have learnt the power of ice I thought it an apropriate time to teach you the secrets of a perfect ice Dragon." Crystal said. Malefor nodded to her and turned around. A large dummy appeared in the centre of the room. It walked closer to him stomping its foot on the floor with every step. "You've got to feel the power, feel the cold and breath with it." Crystal said whispering to Malefor. He looked at the large dummy worridly. He closed his eyes and without knowing icicles came from his mouth and tore through the dummy. He turned around and looked at Crystal. She smilied to him and nodded. "Now, I want you to freeze the enemys and then attack them whist there frozen. Can you do that?" She asked.

Malefor nodded and looked at the centre of the circle. Five small dummys appeared in the centre of the room. Malefor forze them all with one breath. He ran up to them and attacked them repeatedly untill the ice that they were frozen in smashed and fell on the floor. Malefor looked down at the ice that lay on the floor. He picked up a large chunck and looked at it amazed. He had just released what he could do. He had th powers to freeze anybody when ever he wanted. He clenched his fist, crushing the ice in his hand. "What more do you have to teach me?" He asked with a grin on his face. He felt the power rage through him, power that he hadn't realised before. "Feel the energy flow through you and controll it to go directly to your tail. When I tell you to spin around and it will freeze anything that gets in the way of your tail.

Malefor walked to the centre of the circle. Four small dummys appeared but before Crystal could say anything Malefor spun around as the enmys flew in the air. Crystal looked at Malefor worridly. She now knew what Spyridon saw when he looked at Malefor. She knew he had power that he could not controll and now he was full with power. She knew that she couldn't tell him anything. "Well done Malefor." She said trying not to sound to worried. "That compleats your training." She said. She walked past him and to the door that lead into the nesting room. "I think your forgeting something?" Malefor said. Crystal sighed and turned around to Malefor but just as she opened her mouth Spyridon walked through the door. "Excuse me Crystal, but can I have a word." He said. Crystal turned to him and nodded.

Spyridon walked out of the room with Crystal. "You realy think that I'm going to let you teach him the fury! After what happened last time!" Spyridon whispered. Crystal sighed and looked at him angrly. "No I was not! And it pains me to say but you were right about Malefor!" She yelled. Crystal felt guilty. "But we can't hide it from him forever. What if he needed to defend himself? What if there is a war!" She whispered. Spyridon looked at her worridly. "Im not about to take that risk! He could put us all in danger!" He yelled. Crystal opened the door. Malefor stood at the other side of the door listening to what they were saying. "A threat? Dangerious? Is that what I realy am? What you think I am? All of you?" Malefor said. Crystal looked at Malefor. "Malefor, its not like that." She said. Malefor looked at her angrly. He past the two of them. Crystal looked at Spyridon angly. "Now look what you've done." She whispered.
