They are probably talking about the remaining unreleased Skylanders.

This is just my guess/opinion. I think we will see regular Ninjini and the other reposes released in April/May. Then we will see the variants sometime in the summer and after that we will build up to Skylanders 3.

Look at it this way....

Activision is in a tough spot. Everyone wants all of the figures now. They don't want to wait for them to be spread out over 10 months. Some people want them all released on Day one. Which, is all find and great but I don't know about you but I don't have 800+ dollars lying around. It is now February and all we are waiting on (regular figures, not variants) Ninjini, Spyro, Wrecking Ball, and Drobot. So assuming that Skylanders Three will be out in October or somewhere close to that we have 8 months for four regular figures. I can almost guarantee that come July and August when no figures have been released that you will see people complain that they released the figures too fast.

It's a bit late to try and "stretch out" the release schedule, since there's really only one left that most people would care about. And that final figure will "exist" in a week at ludicrously inflated eBay prices after the scalpers invade New York in droves.

Which is why I'm still holding to my belief that we'll see "reverse elements" of all 48 existing Skylanders (and whatever new ones come out in the new game) in the next game as an artificial way of increasing the figures to last year-round and making store-exclusive variants like "Undead Camo" turn the quest to catch 'em all into a even GREATER hassle.

If Skylanders III has 120 figures (60 standard, 60 reverse elements) to collect on the official checklist, that's 2.5x as many figures, which can easily be stretched through the year.

It is too late to stretch it out. I think Activision tried to make people happy by releasing them in a faster time frame this time. Like I said before they are in a tough spot as no one will be 100% happy with the way they do this.

I actually prefer this and haven't seen as much complaining as it was last year. The most complaints I've seen are from non-US territories AND people who want them all released already.

I like it the way it is now with the half-waves. There's only so much you can do in the game and even with the 3DS edition (which, quite frankly, just means you'll end up with a higher leveled figure on console without any upgrades) it all goes stale super fast.

Your last statement is why alot of us want them out now. Stretching out character releases to almost a year is insane for a game that takes a couple days to complete. So, you are very right, it does get stale super fast.

Wave 3 hasn't even been released to New Zealand yet, so it will be interesting to see if they release wave 4 before wave 3 in NZ.

Couldn't disagree more. Skylanders is established, so there is no reason to stretch out the figure releases. The thinking last year was that they had no way to know the game would be so popular, that their distribution machine was caught off guard. With only 16 true new figures this time around, everything should have been released by Christmas.

What he/she said. Btw, finding skylanders for giants has been a breeze until Thumpback and Eyebrawl came out. I'm not thrilled with these "fake" variants like Glow in the Dark and Silver/Gold colored. I ignore those to send home a point that I will encourage new capabilites but I'll be damned if I'm going to go and buy 3-4 variants in the next Skylanders game. The only reason I did it this time was for Lightcore.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

Except for the fact from a business standpoint it isn't really "16 true new figures". Like it or not, it's 32 new figures regardless of the fact half are simply reposed/with light up abilities.

The fact also is, not everyone can afford to buy them all in one swoop. Financially, the waves are a good idea because most casual parents don't really want to waste their paychecks on a bunch of toys.

These half wave businesses are a way of meeting the middle between casual buyers and the Veruca Salt mentality of the fans.
