Watch the Extended version of ELijah Wood interview. There you can see Spyro and Cynder falling from edge, and the 'A' button appears.

Maybe that's like in Tomb Raider and Kingdom Hearts 2, you have push the buttoms at the right moment. Sounds funny smilie
