On the extended interview there is a part where cynder and spyro fall off a ledge the lava monster is holding, at that part a big green "A" apers, what does it mean?

It's like an action move, like in KH2 when Sora does some moves during boss battles that requires to press the A button at the right time.

It's a quick time event. The green A is one of the Xbox 360's buttons.

I think he means where you have to press a button on the controller for the character to do the action. But you have to be quick at pressing it or else you will fail.

Like In God of war, when you grab on to an enemy or dodging stuff in mid air, random buttons apear on the screen. The button shown means you have to press it once it appears or esle you'll fall and have to start all over again.

yea like reaction commands where you have to press triangle,or maybe its a minigame where you have to press buttons to get up the mountain? just a thought

Simply put:

When it appears, tap the button rapidly as fast as you can to complete the action.

And probably the jump button, and jumping in mid air after a double jump (thus triple jumping) would make the character fly.

...There's a way to save yourself from falling off a ledge.

It could be the button that turns of Free Flight (You might have to hold it or something?)
