I just picked up my pre-order Gamestop Scorpion Striker and was told:

"It is good you got here early as we did not receive enough to cover the pre-orders"

If you have a Gamestop pre-order, I'd recommend calling to see if they received enough to cover all the pre-orders. If the answer is "No", you may want to get there as quickly as possibly as, I believe, most stores are first-come-first-serve for pre-orders and NOT by who pre-ordered earliest.

I should have per orderd

I got to my Gamestop this morning when they opened. They didn't have them yet but the manager had told me that they had more than enough coming to cover the pre-orders. I just wandered around the mall and when I was done shopping stopped back in to check and he was unloading the boxes so I got mine no problem. I did hear him on a call with somebody telling them that they would only be able to hold them for the day so to get there as soon as possible.

I dont understand how they can only have enough for pre orders and in some cases not even enough for that!?....lol..its laughable really. Terrible business planning. They are advertising the release of this in every store with the little Skylander Battle Pack display and yet they are not even gonna have any left to put on sale in the display in the stores.

That's GameStop lying. One of my local stores had 20 reserved and are getting in 40. GameStop always plays that scare tactic to court people into preordering more. Don't believe ondores lies

Couple of the ones I called said they have no extras!...one said they will have seven but he hadnt received his order yet

As I was getting ready to purchase, two mothers came in the store one after the other looking for Scorpion Striker without a pre-order to which the Manager said the same, "Sorry, we did not receive enough for our pre-orders even"; watching both go immediate back out the door in disappointment.

Again, this may be a small isolated case but making people aware is the help I wanted to give.

Not isolated at all Slivers. My Gamestop got one box, not even enough for all the pre-orders. I managed to get mine on the way to work, fortunately, but I advise everyone get there early.

You're doing people a real service by posting this, so thanks for that.

Slivers, I didn't call you a liar. Please don't misconstrue my words. I said that gamestops lying. I could tell you stories that would make you hate ban ages/GameStop. I still say they're lying. The Gamestop I am at now always say they're out of skylanders, but I'm standing by the back room which they keep open all the time. I see lots of the more obscure figures sitting in the back. Point blank gamestops are filled with 99% liars, 1% legit employees.

Gamestop should just basically come out and say you can only get this item if you pre-order it. Whats the point of advertising it for sale in their stores if none of em have extra's to sell actually in their stores!...lol. GAMESTOP SUCKS!....and well if you work at Gamestop I am sorry....but it does!

My wife was able to pick one up without me doing a pre-order. From her experience, she walked in, picked up the Scorpion Striker, called me to make sure it was the right one, and paid. There were more on the shelf too. Never had any problems with pre-orders since, as a rule, I just don't do them. Every video game or accessory will be out eventually, I may just have to wait a little longer.

I called two Gamestops. The closest one only had pre-orders in stock and no extra, the further one said they had some ready for sale, so I'm going to go soon and hope they have some left. Can't wait!

I just came back from Gamestop they only had one extra and other five had to be held for pre-orders.

My Gamestop had no extras, but enough to cover preorders....same with a secondary location close that I tried.

the GS i stopped @ had 2 "extra" and I got one. The other one was for someone coming from the other GS on the other side of the freeway. The GS near my home only had enough for preorders. The 3 GS in the malls were shorted on their supply for preorders. SO, this means that 1 GS had "extra", 2 met their preorder demand, and 3 were slighted on supply.

On the boards here is a GS manager in my local area. Maybe he can put on his big boy pants and tell us just how it benefits GS to lie to their clientele that they don't have a product for sale when they do.

People who are blaming GameStop should probably understand that their systems likely did the best they could to distribute the per-orders appropriately given the total quantity shipped to them. In the end, as has been the case time and time again, their demand is greater than their supply.

I think some stores got shorted and some didn't. As I understand they are in boxes of 6, therefore most stores got some multiple of 6. Mine got 6 for what looked like 4 pre-orders. When I say "looked" I mean the SKU they used actually lined up with the Cannon SKU, and a couple of those were from August of last year - obviously not for Hot Dog. Gamestop corporate messed up in that they had this SKU problem, I helped an employee at my store figure it out so no pre-orders would miss out, they were holding all 6 in the drawer and not putting them out until they were sure they had an accurate count.

Part of what GM says is entirely true. It is fairly common practice for Gamestop to play up the rarity of things for the sake of making more pre-orders. It's part of their sales, they push employees to make more pre-orders, and this is a way to drive that.

Now in the case of Hot Dog, between the SKU mess up, the packaging of 6 and the wildly varying numbers of pre-orders at stores (some only had a couple, others got a couple dozen), the shipping mishaps that pushed the date back - some stores got short changed. If your store only had 1 pre-order, they got 1 box of 6, therefore had 5 left over to sell. If your store had 7 pre-orders, they may have only gotten 1 box of 6, leaving 1 person out cold. It sucks, but let's hope they get this sorted out soon for the ones that pre-ordered late.

Found a store that ordered 33...they got 27 and 25 were pre orders so I managed to snag one!....phew.....my daughter will be smilinmg this evening!

Mine got 6 in. I was literally just standing there til the guy went and opened the box. He asked if I wanted to buy the other ones to sell on ebay. Yes. He actually suggested it. I said no and he rang me up then I told him I had already paid it off. Many gs employees have no idea about anything. Be warned your preorder may not be held.

Side note: apparently my area is hiring managers and assistant managers. As someone with plenty of experience I am sending my résumé now. Be ready for a hardcore skylanders fan to be at the helm of one of these stores!

had no prob picking up as my guy was opening the box as I walked in. pre ordered early. Anyway a good pick up at 12:10today.

My Gamestop had 1 box of them in, that was it, and I got the last one, so it appears there are some issues with supply but not necessarily at every location.

Well, it seems Oklahoma City, a small market city in the south (generally dubbed a flyover state), is swarmed with them. Picked up my 4, they had 8 extras.

Another store had 20 reserves, got 40. One got 18 of them and no reserves.

The boxes that they were unloading at my GS had 5 SS and 1 DragonCannon.

There have been reports before that, for GS at least, Skylanders are unboxed at their central warehouse and re-boxed for shipment to individual stores. Differing ratios in different boxes would seem to support that report.

My store had six on the shelves and at least 12 in the back with 4 pre orders

I'm pretty sad at the moment. Out of our 3 gamestops they got absolutely none! Not even for the pre-orders. My daughter is crushed right now she was fighting back her little tears on the way home

I called my store earlier this morning. I asked if they had it in, to which the guy said "we don't, but did you preorder?". I told him I did, he went and looked and one had my name on it.

So, I kind of wonder- what exactly went so spotty here with which stores had them in?

My GS has 10 sitting there... I have some myself, and ended up with an extra. Is Molten Hotdog out randomly?

I live in Southern California, It's 1:10 here right now but the UPS guys already made there drop offs for today and there were no SS packs. I guess the shipment is held up somewhere. Luckily my husband commutes to work in the next city over and he was able to find one at a gamestop there during his lunch break. Daddy saves the day!

No word on molten but they've never put ingame variants randomly in shipments so I highly doubt that would happen.

Just got a call from my local Gamestop and I got the last two since I paid in full when I preordered. Huzzah!

My GameStop said they only had enough for the preorders, SO happy I preordered. From the way the employee was talking about it, it sounds like there were ALOT of unhappy SS wanters > >'

All the Gamestops I go too, are in Des Moines, Iowa. Only one here out of the 6 I called had any extras. I was actually looking for the Sidekicks as I thought they were the new ones.


I saw the discussion on Gamestop earlier. I agree that some of the people they hire can be "liars." Now, keep in mind you will have this everywhere you go in all jobs. I worked in the retail world for about 14 years. You know how many liars, I have seen go through the doors. This is why I am pretty loyal to certain stores. Unless I am looking for something that is very rare. (I.E. What I thought at the time was new sidekicks) I will not go to any other Gamestop in DSM. Why? Because the manager at the other stores are not very nice. What it boils down too I guess, is if you don't like a certain store/company then take your business somewhere else like I do.

didnt pre ordered but i was told by an employee last week to be there first thing in the morning as there is always be extra from 2-10pcs per order. he was spot on there were 4 on that store and got 1. there was couple 3 packs also #5 and #6 but already got em so didnt bother. was also told to check monday after noon/evening or tuesday afternoon for next batch of delivery and was told might be some new giants but he never really sure whats in the next deliveries.

From what I have been told by Gamestop employees that they can only tell if Skylanders are in "transit". They can not tell what kind, I know I will be calling on Monday at my lunch break.

I pre ordered it and I'm 99.9% sure it will come on Tuesday.

The manager at the gamestop down the street from my house sold all the scorpion sets including the preorders. So getting a "preorder" was worthless. So I'm going to wait until its distributed at other stores. Gamestip lost my business when it comes to future skylanders.

I preordered and paid in full at that time.

Called my Gamestop today and they said they did not have many, in fact not enough to even cover their preorders. I ran over right then (10:30AM; I work nights) and was able to get my two preordered (one for my girl's kids and one for me) they had one left. Clerk told me they have 15 preordered but only got three!

This would also be why you will probably never find a variant at a Gamestop. They took the variants out of the S:SA packs and sold them online. Which honestly, is just another form of scalping.
