There have been a handful of Skylanders I've bought and never played with because I thought they were so incredibly stupid. Characters like Voodood, Wrecking Ball, Boomer and Lightning Rod all fell into this category. Yet tonight I finally decided to put that ugly lump of plastic known as Lightning Rod on the Portal, and to my surprise he's probably now my favourite Air Element to play as. He still has the absolute worst figure of the whole set, but he's been a huge surprise at how awesome he is. I like how forcefully he throws his lightning bolts, and as I upgraded him down his lightning bolt path, it was the first Skylander in quite a while that I was genuinely excited whenever I was able to upgrade him. Now I've fully upgraded him, I have a new found appreciation for him. He's still my least favourite figure by far, but his in-game model looks WAY cooler, and he's just got a real aura of power about him, like he really is some sort of powerful ancient God.

How about you? Were there any characters that you initially hated, but ended up being surprised by?

the first time I picked up the game I was biased and disliked female characters thinking that they were designed for girls only.so at first I bought the wii version and played all the characters to level ten, then I heard that the 3ds was a different story line entirerly and really wanted , so I bought that game and came with it. I leveled up the male characters and the shops were closed so I decided that I would try stealthy and to my surprise I really liked this toy. She is my best life skylander and ranks in my top 6.

That's the only one that really surprised me to be good. In fact, I had more disappointments:
-Hex altogether. She really isn't that strong.
-Double Trouble on 3DS, he's awful, and that was just more shocking than Cynder's Spectral Lightning.
-Sunburn on console. Blaze Dragon sucks, Flame Lord has good moves but is too slow for the mediocre damage he deals.
-Prism Break on 3DS. He's just meh.

One day (after a long 6 months of not playing Skylanders) I found a Wham-Shell and immediately knew it was rare,and there was a 3 for 2 deal on Skylanders.I needed an earth and air element,so I got Whirlwind and Prism Break,but the gimmick was that you had to pick at least one shelf warmer (ones that didn't sell) so after putting Prism Break back I had a choice of Bash or Dino-Rang and I chose Dino-Rang because he actually had colors other than brown and yellow on his figure.I really hated him but had to settle.Immediatley he became one of my top 5 Skylanders and now,he's one of my top 3.

That's almost exactly what happened to me.. I saw Stealth Elf in my local Gamestop, and said "eh, what the heck." and bought her. I leveled her up all the way to 10, let her finish all the Heroic Challenges, and threw a winged hat on her, and BAM! She instantly became one of the best (and most overrated) Skylander I use..

*Sniff* That was beautiful! anyways... STORY TIME!
I walked into the Toys R Us and I thought I should get a few skylanders with meh 20 Bucks. I then saw pirate seas, and bought it because of the treasure item. I didn't use terrafin for months until my bro told me I should try. Long story short, he became #1 on my list.

Why do you think boomer sucks? In my opinion he is awesome and #2 for me only to double trouble. You have got to try him Im so good with him I can beat a 10 bash and prism and Dino sometimes Terrafin and they are all good against tech. You just run around throwing the dynamite down that path and running around them in circles placing troll bombs. It kicks butt. Try it and tell me.

My Favorit:
