Is there a way to "level" up your characters in the DS version? My son and I have all 37 and play it on the Wii. He has it for the DS as well, which I have never played. He is only 6, but he tells me that you cant pick paths or level up there skills in the DS version. Now they level up in the Wii and almost all of them are level 10 and paths completed, but even new ones he says you cant pick upgrades for them. Is this true of the DS version, or is it something he is missing... Like I said, I have never played the DS version and figured I could ask here....
Thanks

You cannot pick paths in the DS version. You can get upgrades, however.

The only thing that carries over between the console versions and 3DS version is level.

Levelling up exists in all versions, but the upgrade system is a little different. In every version except the 3DS version, there are three basic upgrades, one new attack alongside the basic upgrades, two upgrade paths, in which you must pick one or the other with three upgrades on each path, and one soul gem upgrade that you can buy at any stage of upgrading, but only after you have gotten that character's soul gem in one of the levels. In the 3DS version, you gain three upgrades as you level up, which may be similar, based on or completely different from the upgrades on the other versions.

In the 3DS version level ups give you three upgrades predetermined. The first upgrade comes at either 2, 3 or 4, the second at either 6, 7, or 8, and the last at either 8, 9, or in very rare cases, 10.
Levels without upgrades grant your Skylander extra Health or Attack Damage. Scrolls for each Skylander hidden in the Radiant Isles grants either 20% extra Health, Attack Damage or Speed. There are no upgrade paths or buyable upgrades. |
