Is there a way? I was using Gill grunt and he wa working fine, then I took him off and used some others, then I put him on and it just tells me a toy on the portal has a problem. I still hear his battlecry, but no character appears.

Also how do I back up my ave file on the PC?
And can the PC portal work with Wii?

Since I don't have the PC version, I'm not sure. I use the PoP of the 3DS version for the webgame.

Do you men you use it on PC? Does it connect with USB?

Yeah, it does connect with USB.

if you have the 3ds game/portal you can reset a broken skylander. just put the broken one on the portal talk to the one guy, and it will say "the character on the portal has a problem and needs to be reset" so do that.

1. Turn on Game
2. Put Gill on Portal
3. Alt Tab out
4. Unplug Portal
5. Plug in Portal
6. Click Back inot game
7. Toy should work

I fixed 3 of my skylanders using a program called skylandereditor. All I did was do a read with it (editor r spyro.bak), it told me there was a checksum error, then I did a write with it (editor w spyro.bak). That fixed them no problems, I now use this program to backup[ my characters so if they die again I don't lose their level.

I understand this program is also able to alter the code on the figures, so I would be careful about using it and telling people you are using it, especially after that guy got a cease and desist letter from Activision last year.

I have heard that RF interference can break these things because of their system of operation, I have mostly heard people reporting problems with the PC version, though my problem occurred on Wii.
My Cynder broke, and I think it has something to do with operating a tesla coil while the game was on, didn't exactly think about that one hehehe...
The thing operates in the 500-800 KHz range, and I'm not sure what the operating frequency range of the skaylanders are though

I was able to get the portal to work with the PC, it even recognizes Cynder with the skylanders universe online. Though it still does not work with the Wii...

Their is a way on giants to fix figures on the console versions (Wii, WiiU, PS3, and 360)

1. Put figure on portal get error message

2. Hit start and back all the way out to the main screen

3. Go to settings and hit fix broken figure. Do this three or four times and it should erase all of the corrupted data. This will also reset your skylander.
