So, I was mulling this over, and was thinking. Yes, we know Giants won't be coming out on the Wii U (Although, there's always that chance for a later release)

But, would we even really need the Portal? Wouldn't it be possible to use the figures on the Wii U tablet, rather than the portal? Especially since this could be a potential way for them to push an alternate version of the game, and we know that other companies are looking to do it as well. (As indicated by the Rayman trailer)

Thoughts?

I think it would be available on the wii u then it would be he third one which is highly unlikely.

but the wii u can play all old wii games on it so why would they make another one?

The wii u controller has IR sensors so it can play skylanders w/out a portal.

Infer Red. Its what causes the skylanders to connect to the portal, its what connects a DS (game system) to another DS, ect.

Money, potential for alternate packs, special unlocks, etc. Anything really.

IR is not how Skylanders connect to the portal, they work by RFID. But the Wii U controller has an embedded RFID reader.
