i know a lot of people (myself included) will be disgruntled if the existing characters are capped at level 10 and you must by the new versions of the same character to go higher than level 10.
with existing characters the display on screen when you reach level 10 doesn't look like it is full.
maybe this means they built in room for expansion? we can but hope.

A few things to note:
1. We have yet to hear "officially" if the level cap will even be raised beyond 10. 2. Even if the level cap is raised leveling only increases your HP pool. So look at it as a forced hard mode lol. 3. Activision is really hyping the fact that all of your current Skylanders will work in Giants. There wouldn't be much point in making that a major selling point if they came over gimped. 4. Again "unofficially" (to the best of my knowledge) we were told they couldn't gain experience in Giants but could come over already leveled...not so bad. |

Yeah man I hope the old guys seamlessly transfer over and work. That should make hunting down reposes much less difficult.

First, I think this might be better off in our Giants area of the forums.
Next, I'd guess that they may have some limitations on what the figure can do. While they'd probably still transmit the character data to Giants, anything higher than what is currently on Adventure probably wouldn't work. While they could do it so that old figures will remain at 10 on Adventure and be able to go up higher in Giants, the much more sensible option from a monetary standpoint would to re-release the figures, allowing people to use them in both the old and new games. To further push that, it's probably why all the new figures have a different base. Not just to signify they're "new" but also to detonate which ones have what sort of chips in them. (so, new ones will be able to continue to level up if that's an option in "Skylanders 3" and can be used in any game in the series) While I don't know much about the tech in the figures I figure that's probably a possibility, even if we don't have official confirmation. But again..I don't know if any of this is correct.

Yeah hopefully if the series 1 guys are limited by chips, then I hope they do some forward thinking for series 2 guys and expand what those chips can do. Even have data banks that only really mean something specific to a game.
For example a series 2 guy who use in the 3rd game, might be able to learn some new attacks in the 3rd game, because the figure has a blank data area, that is a simple as a checkbox for future features in game. Without knowing what the future games might hold they can make the toys future compatible. As cool as the tech is the figures themselves hold very little specific data.
