I am opening up this topic because obviously with the release of part 2 everyone is speculating the eventuality of a part 3. Now one of the things I enjoy most about these games are all the different unique characters. The disappointment is that even though you can look up their back stories I feel like there really isn't a connection. I personally would love to see flashbacks or something which would allow you to play as these characters making their way to becoming a skylander. Some of the characters have a weak back story but some of them like Hex have a very interesting connection to Spyro that I would love to see play out. Also in the opening trailers these characters all talk about their connections to each other or having dealt with KAOS previously, but when did this all happen? I think if they had to make a third game I would like to see these flashbacks. They could easily make 31 levels at least, a level for each characters back story or more, not counting Spyro because we know his storyline even though you could see how he meets Eon. Now this may make the game fairly long but I think the game is too short and the new game will also be pretty short so having a lengthy plot rich game would be really cool.

Well what do you guys think? Am I the only one that would like to see this? Would everyone just prefer linear movement? Does anyone else have BIG ideas they would like to see in a new game? Would my idea even be something feasible for Toys for BOB and Activision to accomplish?

i think thats a really cool idea actually. i dont know what other things i would want. i want crash bandicoot into this franchise. but only because that was my favorite game as a kid. i realize he doesnt really fit the bill as a skylander and wont ever happen. also, at some point a while back someone mentioned that they could do a racing game (think mario cart/ crash team racing) but they would definitely make that a money trap with tons of cars to buy and add ons to cars etc. but i think thats also a cool idea even though it probably wouldnt transfer to a good end product.

As awesome and story-driven as that would be, it won't happen. This is an ensemble game with an emphasis on the predicament they are currently in and resolving it. The character's story takes a backseat to the character's appeal to the player. It's evident that no matter what, each Skylander character isn't really that crucial. You just need 1 of each element to fully complete the game. I doubt it'll change especially since they made most speak their own language. The most I could see is some backstory mini movie trailer instead of the soul gem gameplay trailer.

In saying that, there are ways they can have a compelling story and not dive into the background.

They need a big crossover event, like maybe a Pokemon or Kratos tag-team, that would be money in the bank for sure.

I'm sold. Skylanders threequel will not, and cannot be complete without an Earth element Hulkster.

Given his propensity for flames on his briefs when wrestling, flames on his entrance to the ring and love of suntanning, wouldn't fire be a more suitable element choice?

I wouldn't mind if the in-game physics changed depending on the land you visited or due to environmental factors.

Things like floating, your vector of movement altered due to circumstance, etc.

Theres this show and it always starts out with this Back story that describes how they met in each episode and i think that would be good like your idea icecube i would personally love to see Zaps one with him being raised by electric eels

Just the idea of having a third installment period is all I could ever hope for.

It wasn't a thallus sarcasm - I simply meant that it indeed would be a good game but unlikely to happen in SL.

Well it does obviously seem like a difficult request to make those backstories but that is just something that I think would be great to see. The way they are manufacturing these games there is most likely a three on the horizon. Now while a game would be my preference even a show or something could be cool as long as its not the same graphics as those promo videos. I just really love a lot of these characters and I would love to see/play more about them and who they are.
