He's pretty good on the 3DS version so I'm a fan of him on that game but I haven't really played him on the console version so I really can't judge his game-play on that yet.

Boomer is awesome...especially the upgraded ground pounder. It stuns and does 100 non-crit damage. lol I don't even really use his bombs.

His toy is a bit bland-looking, but I love his face in-game. He just looks so pumped to be there!
Also, he's basically the Skylander equivalent of Bomberman.

boomer sucks. he sucks badly. he's very very very weak. until you get troll bombs away. then he's an unstoppable monster!

Boomer was one of my first few skylanders smilie he was in a 3-pack with voodood and prism break, at first I thought he wasn't interesting. THEN I PUT HIM ON THE PORTAL, and he became one of my regular skylanders. he was actually one of my most powerfull back then, the second most powerful was terrafin, third was voodood, fourth was spyro.
overall, I think boomer is a pretty powerful character and is always one of my first choices.
