All of my Son's friends are into Skylanders. Honestly, that's probably all they talk about at school, on the playground, at home, outside playing, you get the point. So I decided to put together a tournament for them (8 kids) and managed to pull together some awesome prizes (Double Trouble, Whirlwind, Drill Sergeant, Stump Smash and Boomer) for the kids that placed in the top 4, then the fifth Skylander was entered into a drawing for the 4 kids that didn't place in the top 4.

Each kid used three Skylanders of their choosing and battled each other in a best out of 5 round. I found it pretty interesting on which Skylanders were chosen and how they did in battle mode. Here were the results:

Team One: Slam Bam, Hex, Sonic Boom
Team Two: Drill Sergeant, Spyro, ??
Winner: Team 1(Slam Bam)

Team Three: Hex, Chop Chop, Cynder
Team Four: (I forgot - this was a three year old that kind of got his booty handed to him, sadly - he had a blast though!)
Winner: Team 3 (Hex)

Team Five: Prism Break, Flameslinger, Gill Grunt
Team Six: Stealth Elf, Sonic Boom, Spyro
Winner: Team 6 (Stealth Elf)

Team Seven: Cynder, Zap, Whirlwind
Team Eight: Spyro, Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy
Winner: Team 7 (Cynder)

Finals:
Team Slam Bam
Team Hex
Winner: Team Hex

Team Stealth Elf
Team Cynder
Winner: Team Stealth Elf

Championship
Team Hex
Team Stealth Elf
Winner: Team Hex

All of the final matches were intense, all of them going the full 5 games. The championship was the craziest. Everyone expected Team Stealth Elf to dominate, because well Stealthy was just eating competitors alive. However, Team Hex had a great counter with Cynder and Hex who really slowed down the Elf's blades. Team Stealth Elf smartly switched to Sonic Boom and Spyro and kept the championship interesting. In the end Hex was able to outlast Sonic Boom's babies and win the championship.

It was a really fun event and the kids had a blast. I have all the rules still written down if anyone else would like to try and host a tournament. We will probably be having another one sometime in the next month.

My son was Team 5 (Prism Break) so he didn't technically win anything...but the kid who won the tournament ended up GIVING the Skylander he won to my son (Whirlwind), since his sister already had the one he chose. It was the nicest thing that I've seen from an 8 year old in a long time. I kept double checking with the parents and they were proud of their son. It was so cool and it made my son's day. Great day overall.

SO - Stealth Elf may be close to unstoppable but Cynder and Hex look to be good answers for her intensity.

Interesting. My friend, his wife, my son and I had a tournament awhile back. I was losing my butt off at start, but luckily came back and won it with Dark Spyro.

My FRIEND (stares cause I know he sees this) needs to have another tournament. I'm ready to whoop some butt, as all 60 of my Skylanders are level 10.

Haha nice! Yeah I actually read your tournament page and honestly, that's what sparked the idea to create a tournament for the kids. I was itching to get into it and play with them, but I didn't want it to be unfair. Now, my son hands my butt to me every time we battle. haha.

I was also surprised to see how many Spyros were chosen to play in the battle - looks like everyone still loves the original smilie

PM sent, SkyDad. I'd like to see those tournament rules for my son's birthday. If it's still popular, it would probably be a big hit with the kids. Great idea.

Hey, send me the rules for this style of tournament.

I am putting together a ruleset myself, but it involves having the cards you get with the figures. I am making a ruleset for those who have one set of cards, as well as one for those who have 2 sets of cards.

These tournament ideas are really good. They have actual tournaments with games like sf, and sc, sb, tekken and so on. It would be neat if people could organize community tournaments with skylanders.

I'm not that hardcore. I just thought it would be a fun idea to set one up a small tournament for my son and his friends.

Thanks for sending the rules, SkyDad. I'll check it out.

Yeah the rules are quite simple, basically a bracketed tournament similar to one you'd see with like March Madness. I will PM the rules to you guys though! smilie Great for kids parties and such.
