Sorry, I'm still a little bit of a Skylanders n00b, but...what ARE the Heroic Challenges/how do you do them? I haven't even seen any of these until I read people talking about them here. Are they something you do after you beat Kaos?

After you rescue Cali (pretty early in the game) you can talk to her and she'll offer you mini dungeons called "heroics" that if you complete within the allotted time will buff your champion with higher stats.

Hexs challenge - furthest right teleport pad first, then furthest left teleport pad, then the one in the middle last. Just go and step on buttons, get done with about a minute left on the clock. This should make 2 that you can do.

Once you get the pattern down for a heroic, you should be able to finish them with quite a bit of time left.

At first, I was having trouble navigating the mines to find all 6 giant spiders in Prism Break's challenge, but once I had my route down pat, I was finishing with 90 seconds left or so.

Drobot's Heroic Challenge is by far the most difficult. I can help you with Terrafin's. If you go down and take the path straight, you will come across three Chompie spawning pods. Those three will produce enough Chompies to complete the challenge. It isn't that far from where you spawn.

Beat all of them so far with Spyro on the Wii. Its possible, but you'll often find your self staring at the red FAILURE sign.

Best thing to do is to keep trying. You'll get it eventually.

You can only get the stat bonus once per challenge per character. I think you can do the challenge again, but you won't get the bonus if it has already been completed with that character.

I guess that's fair. Still it would be nice if repeating a challenge yielded SOMETHING. Too bad the challenges don't level up in difficulty and provide some sort of cool reward. Even an achievement would be nice.

They take long enough to do as it is (32 characters x 32 challenges = 1,024 total). And that's not including legendary figures or Dark Spyro, and also not including failed attempts.

I just wish I had gotten started on these puppies early on instead of waiting.

Aha, I had this stupid preconception that it would be easier to do a heroic challenge if my char was a higher level and had more skills (i.e. more heroic). Hence, I planned to do the challenges when my figs were not fresh.

Drobot's Heroic Challenge is by far the most difficult.

True that!
Whirlwind wasn't as bad thanks to her Rainbow attack. Drobot wasn't as bad either; it's just that he fired his lasers prematurely when I only hit the button once, so it would hit a Purple Chompie.. smilie
But the character I had such a hard time with was Sonic Boom since I made her a Siren Griffin. But I eventually completed it.

Zap's Heroic Challenge is tough as well, but not like Drobot's...

^Seconded. I see no point in doing the same freaking challenges OVER AND OVER just to get a tinsy stats boost. I'd rather beat the game with TALENT rather than just being OP. Plus I would get bored after about 2 challenges... I only do them for the character they belong to. Eg. Spyro only does Spyro's.

I did it with a very strong Ghost Roaster, but not maxed out. He made ghosts with his chain attack, so I had to get the chompies with the skull attack. Not sure how I would do it if I had the upgrade that makes ghosts with both attacks. I guess you would have to eat them so they didn't attack the purples.

I bested it up at 14th try, since Ghost Roaster heals himself eating ghosts by skull charge I just tanked purple chompies on myself. At the end I had 3 of those buggers on me. One should also try not to lure them, I guess everybody knows the locations of purples when doing this challenge couple of times. Those areas can be easily avoided. In fact so far it was the hardest heroic combination for me so far.

Eventually, you'll get used to them. V and I have teamed up to complete every Heroic Challenge for every currently-released Skylander, on every figure. It took a lot of patience, but no part of it was un-doable. They make a big difference, especially the +speed challenges, and are totally worth it.

I always miss one of the cats in Zap's Challenge. Its very annoying. When I get new Skylanders I level em to about 4 or 5, then do all the heroic challenges with them. That way its a little easier. I have a lot of trouble with Sonic Boom's with my melee characters, they just aren't fast enough. So far only my ranged characters have done hers.

Been working on the rest of my 25 heroic challenges this weekend, and I'm almost done. I've got all 25 done on 21 of my figures. Ran out of time last night before I could do the final 5 I'm working on for my three earth characters, with Eruptor and Boomer being put on hold for the time being. And I actually had to reset Drobot because his upgraded lasers kept shooting through too many enemies on Double Trouble's challenge. This turned out not to be a big deal, though, because after resetting him and running him through the challenges with his basic attacks, he was already level 5 by the time he got through them all. Then I just ran him through two additional levels and he's already jacked up to level 10. But Eruptor and Boomer are proving to be my toughest characters on that DT challenge. Their projectile primary attack is just too tough to work in some of those tight spaces. I've tried many, many times with these guys, and I always run out of time WAY too early.

I decided to reset Drobot because I knew his upgraded attack was causing my failures. However, my question is this: will a level 1 Eruptor and Boomer make Double Trouble's challenge any easier? I'm not sure that it will. Thoughts?

And don't suggest that I try it on a different gaming platform. I don't have access to a PS3 or Xbox.

There's a trick to that one. The teleporter you need to choose is the one in the exact center of the screen when they appear. When you realize that, you'll end up with TONS of time leftover.

So today I was trying to do the heroic challenge with all the jump pads and magic gems/charms in it. (You'd think I could remember what they were called after listening to Cali drone on and on about them before each run. Wish you could skip that).

Anyway, I didn't get it on any character, but each time I ran it on "GearFerGutz" (Drill Sargeant) and "I M Murlock" (Gil Grunt), I got 74 of the 75 required gem thingies before time ran out.

Unlike just about any other similar game experience I've ever had where I keep missing something by only one or close to one I didn't feel frustrated or get angry. I actually laughed each and every time it happened. I don't think any game could make failure funny. You have to hand it to the designers for that one.

Still wish you could skip the challenge preamble before each run though, that DOES frustrate me.

I know if you hold down the X button on the PS3 when the text starts it will make it scroll faster and cut them off before they finish going through the whole speech everytime. Not sure if it works for the Xbox or Wii. Attach one of the speed hats if you are finding yourself coming just short until you have done the speed challenges which I would recommend doing first to help with the others.

I think it's because I fail at the path for the bouncy thing and not because I'm too slow. If I had a tight order to do it in (instead of running around like a rat in a maze looking for cheese) I could do it with plenty of time to spare.

Unfortunately for me I get confused by the maze too easily, so it's all about me and not my champion. smilie

I just need to learn the layout better.

I'm resisting that because I like to win or lose on my own and not get hints if I can help it.

I didn't use godmode in the ID game Doom for example until I completely hit a wall near the last few stages.

I still can't solve a Rubik's cube because I refuse to see the "how it's done" videos on that either.

Thanks for the advice all the same. I may end up doing that if I can't figure it out on my own.
