This couldn't be any older news. Like that phone commercial says, "that was SO ten seconds ago."

He didnt post his findings and was about to start to tinker with it. The cease and desist letter was sent when he posted on his blog that he found what encryption was being used but never stated he cracked it or anything. It was preventitive on activision's part.

He might have gone through with it, just not made it public.

I don't mean to have a go specifically at the OP but in a general sense it is always a good idea to at least try a quick 10-20 second search if the news item is not new.

Sure, the search is fallible as it only searches titles, not contents, but at least a poster can look the nay-sayers in the eye and state that they did try to search.

Old news, most of us know about this.

no the guy cracked the encryption and put his source on his public site, which was downloaded. the source wasnt compiled, but a few people were able to compile it. the compiled source just reads and writes the figures data. has 3 opitions, read / write / upgrade (gives max money and max level). you could also just edit the decrypted file with hex editor. ive just been waiting for someone to pick up the project but everyones like too scared to do anything. and i mean ANYTHING.

to the OP maybe check the dates on news articles, stuff from october has probably already been posted about.. and a short tiny lil' search on this forum would give you a lot of threads about that whole thing.
