Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but why change Moneybags to Auric? There was no legitimate reason to do that. Here are some other ones:
Ruins: an obvious reference to Stone Hill, but I can understand why they did this one
Treetop Terrace: why not just leave the name at Treetops or Terrace Village (though I prefer Treetops.)
Cali: Hunter, but having Flynn like her is funny
Hugo: The Professor. Seriously? Two mole scientists?
Slam Bam: why not Bently?

Obviously, Treetop Terrace is a nod to the level in Spyro 1, Treetops, similar background and such.

And Auric is Skylanders' Moneybags that's all, no use complaining about it..

And did you forget that Skylanders is a REBOOT of the Spyro series??

^ I'm not complaining, I just found it strange that they changed Moneybags' name. Especially to Auric. Kids (and quite a few adults) won't get his name, but they will understand the name Moneybags instantly.

Auric isn't the same Moneybags, Super. Skylanders is a reboot, not a continuity. Meaning a reinvention of the Spyro series, and its characters.

^ OK, but I still feel like it isn't a full reboot I see where you are coming from with that, but I feel like it is a continuation of the classics.

It's based on the Classic series, not a continuity.

^OK but I still think that most of it is up to interperatation, as the story does not mention the classic game's characters (except for Spyro and Sparx) but lots of the levels look like the ones from older games. Plus the Dragon Kingdom could be another area of Skylands because you need baloons to travel to each world.

It's based on Legend and the Classics.

I don't have a problem with Auric's name or the other 'changes'.

This game is a separate entity from all the other ones, it's not a continuation at all. It does borrow from other series with certain things, but it's not a continuation of those.

Think of it as a alternate universe. As such, characters aren't going to be the same because they're making original ideas.


Yes, Auric happens to have a flair for money like Moneybags, but he's not rude, and he actually gives you money. That's like..the Anti-Moneybags.

Auric maybe some relative of moneybag that just stepped in, when moneybag hadn't the time to appear in skylanders. could happen.... just saying.

'Name Changes' - They weren't name changes, all the characters in skylanders are not their other counterparts.

They are completely new characters, including cynder, and spyro. Yeah, you saw right. They might look, sound, smell, taste and feel like their counterparts but they are different characters.

Spyro and Cynder are not the same characters, they have similar backstories, but they're not the same dragons.

i wouldnt call the purple dragon in this gam spyro. to me, he is a different dragon. sorry, but thats the way i see it.

To me, they're both the same dragon, but it's Classic Spyro in another universe, and Cynder in another universe.

Auric can't be Moneybags, he willingly gives you his money!

It takes place in Skylands, not Dragon Kingdoms/Avatar/etc. so why shouldn't everything be original?
