They most likely will not release DLC because of the remaining adventure packs (Empire of Ice & Dragon's Peak.) My friend and I played and beat the game with only 14 Skylanders, the other 8 skylanders we just started a new game to start fresh to level them and do challenges with, that is always an option. By the way if you need help with anything from walkthroughs to character upgrades I can help, just send a PM and I will respond ASAP.

My wife and I are taking it slow with Skylanders, making it last.
We have had it for about 2 weeks and are 35% through it.

But to answer your question, I don't expect to see any DLC for this, they've already built in a mini expansion system with the Adventure packs, and I imagine that shortly after the last Adventure pack is released, progress on the second Skylanders game will be announced.

^ Like Whisper says: the game is already built and they have adventure packs in place. I don't think they could add anymore...unless they use other consoles download services.
In that case I would like to see an arcade download...a few stages maybe some more battle stages...maybe a Co-op online campaign?

I pretty much finished the console version.....so I looked at the 3D's version as more expensive content haha.... I traded-in about 6 games... Got a 3D's and Skylanders version...came to around $90
Not bad really when you think of it?

I took my time with both versions....go slow is my best advise.

Everything has DLC nowadays. Even the Final Fantasy series is jumping on the bandwagon. Activision, however, has been doing it for years, and was one of the pioneers of console DLC with its Guitar Hero series. If anyone knows how to milk a few extra bucks with cheapo downloadable content, it's these guys. When all the figures are released and sales plateau, you know they'll be thinking it... it's just a matter of whether or not they pull the trigger.

So, to answer your question: If it were any other company, I'd be less optimistic for it, but nobody orchestrates a cash grab like Activision, so we'll see.

No worries, though. The game has plenty of replay value, especially if you play with a friend. There are trophies/achievements, accolades, two paths to try on every character, Heroic Challenges, a surprisingly strong PVP mode, starting a new game from scratch, trying the online Universe, and just playing with the toys with your kids if you're one of the many parents who also loves the game.

If you like Skylanders, you'll find something to do with those new figures. Trust me.

How did Activision handle DLC (Guitar Hero, etc) for the Wii market? Or did they merely ignore it altogether?

I ask because Skylanders was developed for Wii so I perceive that presents a roadblock to DLC.

Not that I care too much now, as I have just gone done the XBox route.

At first, they didn't. The series was several games old before they even tried on the Wii, while PS360 had first gen support on their Guitar Hero games. Eventually, though, they had a tab on the main menu for a "music store" that was held on Activision's own servers, where players could buy new songs for $1 a piece. That said, if any DLC does exist, I expect it for PS360 only. It would take some serious patchwork to make happen, but if they see profit at the end of that rainbow, I'm sure it's possible.

As for the ports, it's quite interesting, because while the game is based on the foundation of the Wii version, there are plenty of structural changes between the two. Graphic overhauls, alterations in the game mechanics, even the attacks of certain characters function differently. The games may exist in the same framework, but there are other differences besides just the superficial that lead me to suspect that separate programming is afoot. Whether this leaves the door more open to DLC is anyone's guess, but I've seen DLC show up in stranger places; the Breast Cancer Awareness DLC Pink Knight in Castle Crashers, for one, was completely out of the blue.

I just wonder if they fear their will alienate a sizeable demographic if they introduce DLC. Or do they think that Wii parents just won't care that their kids miss out or believe that the parents will upgrade to another console?

Please elaborate on changes to game mechanics and char attacks as I am now in a quandry on whether I sell my Wii version of the game when I get the XBox one.

I've only recently acquired the Wii version, but here are the most significant ones off the top of my head.

Wii version Eruptor's Eruption attack, on the Volcanor path, is a devastating nuclear explosion with no charge time that fries any and all close-range opponents in PVP with total ease. In PS360, the move charges for a split second, is interruptable, and is less than completely fatal to stand in. This seriously alters his worth as a PVP character who, on the Wii, is beastly.

Drill Sergeant is another example. On PS360, his charge attack becomes psychotically fast and long-lasting once you complete his +speed Heroic Challenges. In the Wii version, you have to charge three times to cover the distance of a single PS360 charge, and at half the speed.

Stealth Elf's Acrobatics distance is about half the PS360 version on the Wii.

Drobot's Afterburners are incredibly easy to interrupt on the Wii, but relatively solid on PS360.

There are others, but this is what we've noticed on our first day PVPing with it.

As for who they alienate with DLC, it's true that Wii would be left in the cold, but since any DLC probably wouldn't come with physical figures, the younger demographic of the Wii version probably wouldn't be too jealous.

The Wii has a minimal amount of DLC... like Time Trial Ghosts on Mario Kart Wii, but not for money, which is the hard part.
