Are there mod tools for the PC version of this game? Where can I get them? Are there tutorials?
Thanks

Mod tools are against the Activision license agreement and not endorsed by most members of this forum. We don't want Activision shooting the messenger by trying to shut down this site.

Why should it matter? Mods are used on almost every single game out there. I know her, and she's not gonna sell it after she "mods" it.

It shouldn't matter. As long as someone isn't using the hacking for evil, it should be fine.
Get this through your tiny brains.

Could've sworn hacking in general was wrong. Also "hacking for evil"? lol Oh god. |

In this game's case, and you guys know this is coming from this game's uber-mega-fan, I say go for it. However, go for it, only if YOU own the game and want to play as new characters.
Why do I say it should be okay? Because Activision is being a bunch of dorks and not giving their customers any release info about new stuff. We are left to secondhand guess, while my daughter balls her eyes out, because she knows she can't play as Wham Shell until sometime between 6-9 months from this very day. Why can't my kids enjoy playing as Cynder, while we wait for the actual toy (IF it really comes in January)? Why can't my daughter play as Wham Shell, until Activision realizes waiting potentially 9 months to release a figure to make a game more complete, might kill this franchise? As someone who buys three of everything with this game, I would hack my game to play as new characters, which makes the wait less, which keeps me interested in this game. As I see it, sometimes Activision is smart (allowing this concept to come to light), while being a bunch of idiots at the same time (holding off new releases for 3+ months at a time).

hacking is fine as long as you dont sell your modefied stuff. i mean i buy an iphone, then its MINE. its MINE and i can do whatever the heck i want with it. why? because its MINE. the only thing i cant do is to sell the thing to people or start a complany and sell hacked iphones. hacking is completly fine as long as you dont use it for, well, evil.
i dont really see whats so bad about hacking your own games and modefying your own toys. i mean it doesnt harm anyone. shure, if you do it so that you screw up everyone elses games/toys or steal information from other people and all that, then that would be bad. but just modefying them like this for personal use, i really dont see why its such a big deal. i mean, i remember one guy hacking his iphone into be used as a controlling device, that made it so that the head on a R2-D2 figure would spin around. it did that by just tilting the iphone. thats pretty cool IMO. and it didnt hurt anyone. the same with the toys and the game. the game i bought is MINE now. the toys i bought are MINE now. i used MY money to buy the game and the toys. I own it now. so i can do whatever i want with it. as long as its not bad. thats my opinion about hacking.

Technically, anything digitally bought, is not yours. You bought a liscense, tied down by DRM (digital rights management), which allows the comany to tell you how you play it. If you lose said iPhone, you lose said liscense. This is another glory about Skylanders. Physical DLC, that is also crossplatform. The world needs less digital download crap that you never really get to call yours.

Back to base concept, I really don't care what people do but I would prefer it not discussed in this forum as Activision has proven to be heavy-handed and I would not want them threatening to shut this site down.

My opinion.....
Basically the same as Lyra's. Keep in mind that if they do, by some fluke, make an online multiplayer, THEN it would be illeagal. |

Obviously you haven't been here in the past. If people keep hacking other Spyro games, and then others post videos to show the "coolness" of it all... and with all the other stuff, we would've shut down AGES ago. guess not lul

Back in October someone discussed the initial steps in making a device driver to allow people to use an iPhone as a portal. Activision sent a cease and desist to the forum.
Please remember that Activision did not own the prior games.

They owned TLoSotD. People hacked it (I forget where I read. It was a small conversation.) and didn't get caught. Activision is still a joke to me, since they have slightly regained my trust with Skylanders, but still pain me with TLoS. Besides, if you say hacking is bad... then wouldn't Insomniac freak about it, too? They even had Zoe say something in the third game like "Sorry, Spyro. You are playing a hacked version of this game.." and whatnot. I can even show you a video. And yet, no one has been sued, warned, or shut down for it. End of story.

By the way, I have Ties with the law. They CANNOT shut us down without proof of illegal activities.

Exactly. What they are doing is indeed not "illegal" unless they are doing bad things with it. Like said, selling it for money. Short and simple indeed.

Uuuhhh, wuuuut? Also, I agree with my dad that if they opted not to make and sell mod tools for the PC version at leat, they missed an oportunity, because I'm sure that if it were straightforward and intuitive enough, people would buy it and love making and sharing thier own Skylanders worlds.
