I just thought it would be fun to see what people think about the game.....list some of the good qualities of the game, the bad parts, and yes the really ugly ones too!

GOOD: Music, Stealth Elf (she rocks), and the collecting aspect! (finding new Characters and getting your hands on them)

BAD: Can be short, and the collecting factor! (Waiting for new content drives me crazy!)

UGLY: No jump button, prices on e-bay

GOOD: Music (not very notable, tho), fun dungeon crawling gameplay, PVP, the figures, Patrick Warburton, and of course Stealth Elf

BAD: Some very annoying voice work, not enough exploration, Wham-Shell doesn't come out until September

UGLY:

The Good: Character design across the board, addictive gameplay, a peripheral-based mechanic that actually works, Richard S. Horvitz as Kaos!, surprisingly strong PVP.

The Bad: The story is over a little quickly, those stupid/repetitive/time-consuming puzzles to open locks, the game's staggered character release schedule and misleading packaging.

The Ugly: Overly expensive/rare collector variants, glitched Gotta Buy Em All trophy/achievement, unbalanced character power rankings.

Good: Great characters, Addictive, ZAP BEING AWESOME, Written by Toy Story Writers, The guy who was Zim as Kaos, has it's own MMO

Bad: No jumping in consoles, Different story on 3DS, Ghost Roaster is a creeper (in more ways than 1), portal poops on you without warning.

Ugly: Little children who clean out my local target stores. Happened to me last night.

^ Good ones! Think having a different story on the 3Ds is a good thing tho???? More game play and a new sort of adventure!

True, and I like the fact that the Radient Isles are not mentioned in the console because they are "shrouded" in the 3DS version.

Good:

- Creative character design. Though you can see similarities in certain characters, they all feel different in some way. Two simple paths allow for a quick change if you find the upgrade path you chose left something to be desired.

- Simple, pick up and play fun. When friend's come over to my apartment and we want a quick and easy game to play against each other, Skylanders battle mode is where it's at. It's easy enough to learn how to play a character effectively, and it gets pretty intense at times. The simplicity of it also makes it a great game for me to play with my girlfriend.

Bad:

- No difficulty settings. Though it is aimed at kids, different difficulty settings would have been great for the older audience. I would probably have played the game over several times if there were different difficulties.

- Lack of the ability to jump. Althought it's not completely necessary, it would have been nice. Jumping could have given characters more diversity in abilities and play style, as well as add some fun strategy to battle mode.

Ugly:

- No online play. Seriously, if there was online play I would buy one of every character and two of certain characters so I could have one of each path. While I cannot see it being easy to implement in story mode, battle mode would have been ridiculously good with online play. Not only would it give the game much more replay value, it would also open up the opportunity to implement 2v2 battle mode. How fun would it be for you and your friend to load up your own characters and go head-to-head with two other people?

GOOD: Gimmicks (Portal of Power), Gameplay, Story, Levels, Characters, Joe Swanson's voice

BAD: Cant jump, Spyro not the main character

UGLY: Expense

Good: Gameplay, Classic/LoS references. Flynn x Cali, Music, THE SHINY PORTAL!!! and NZ getting the game first for once.

Bad: No jump, taking forever to get new waves in NZ,

Ugly: BROKEN SKYLANDERS. And Activision taking 6 weeks to send the stupid replacement... And not being able to skip through Kaos' rants.... That's what makes Kaos so hard to beat it the final battle. THE REPETITIVE RANTS.

GOOD: Portal of Power, voice acting, gameplay, story, characters, upgrades, music

BAD: Taking forever to get waves, no jumping, no difficulty settings, can be short

UGLY: Cynder, expensive

Guys, get over it. I don't like it either. So that's why I made my own version of Cynder that's actually likeable.

Good: References to old Spyro games, character design, music that gets me humming it while playing, addictive, PVP

Bad: Mouthing on characters is off, lack of exploration, can't jump without bounce pads, Kaos looks slimy in the final battle

Ugly: some of the characters I'll only buy for the collector side of me but never even use cause they are UGLY.

Since when did I want to look 'cool' for not liking Cynder? I hate being 'cool'. It's an honest opinion.
And that's your own version, it ain't canon, thus my opinion doesn't change.

Good: The characters, storyline(I think it's cute), the designs(to the lands)

Bad: Waiting for new toys...

Ugly: Darn kids hogging all the Skylanders. XD

It's not a matter of looking "cool". Some people just don't like her.
It could be personal or something. But it doesn't matter.

Exactly.
"Your world".

Doesn't mean anyone else has to like it. Doesn't mean anyone has to hate it.
But the point is: we have opinions.
So there's no need to stand up for a character when something isn't a personal attack.

If it isn't canon, then it doesn't influence others opinion on the character, since you should pay attention to the canon (which is why I feel bad for people who hate things purely because of fanbase when they loved the character/thing/whatever).

GOOD:

1. Large assortment of characters.
2. Idea of pretty memory sticks.
3. Decent gameplay.
4. Fun addition of co-op.
5. Simple controls make it easy to pick up and play.

BAD:

1. Short length.
2. Battle mode is boring.
3. Cheesy jokes.
4. Some characters talk far too much.
5. Others talk far too little.
6. No jumping, even though the game is sometimes considered a platformer.

UGLY:

1. Having to pay for that large assortment of characters mentioned earlier.
2. Easy difficulty, therefore making the game even shorter than it is.
3. People showing off their Skylanders, showing that they have far too much money and time.
4. No online play, therefore rendering Battle mode useless for anyone that plays the game alone.
5. Paying almost double the price of a 3DS game for the 3DS copy of Skylanders.
6. "Waves", which aren't waves since it's only 3 characters at a time.

In other words: It's alright, but don't at all expect me to list this as one of the 10 best games of the year. The game isn't good enough or long enough for me to spend as much money as some of you guys are able to.

GOOD: Gameplay, characters, music, plot, voice acting, Kaos, controls

BAD: Fanbase, short, no jumping, no difficulty setting

UGLY: No online play, short/crappy waves, expensive, having to buy all the characters for $8 each (where I live)

You would want it to be canon to make it more, how do I put this, 'real'? Some people would rather listen to canon over fanon.

I hate Cynder, too, but I don't say it over and over like some people do. That's why I changed her.

To be honest, I don't even know what the hell "canon" is and I could care less about it. I just do as I go and go as I do. I don't expect it to effect anybody.

Canon means real. Like how people assume SxC is canon because Cynder said "I love you" at the end of DotD.

1.I'm talking about THE CYNDER SHAT, not anything else. What's wrong about saying that? I also say "mahn" all the time. I also say "bro" all the time. I'm talking. About. Cynder. Not ANYTHING else. Stop trying to put this into something that has nothing to do with it.

Does it even matter with Drobot? There's nothing wrong with it, and it doesn't effect anyone. So that doesn't matter.

Now you see my dilemma. Now you see why I have a temper. I have to deal with IDIOTS almost EVERY. DAMN. DAY.

The Cynder hating thing doesn't affect anyone either. It's just an opinion. If it REALLY bothers you I'll edit my post.

Good:

• Really fun gameplay - Reminds me of Diablo style gameplay
  
• Prism Break - If you don't like him, you're wrong. That's a fact.
  
• Collectibility - It's just fun hunting down figures
  
• Spyro isn't the focus - Never cared for his old games, but he's fun as a backup character here
  
• Mini Expansions - by staggering them, they add to the game's life.
  
• My wife actually likes it - She doesn't play any other video games.
  

Bad:

• Collectibility - It's annoying not finding the figures I want (Whirlwind)
  
• Lack of Online Play - Srsly?
  
• No official news of a Sequel - I want to know these figures will be good for something years from now, lol
  

Ugly:

• Only 10 levels per character - once you get a character maxed it feels wasteful using them when someone else could use the Exp/Gold

The ugly: The die-hard Spyro fanbase.

It's a purple dragon named Cynder. She's an Undead Skylander, and... that's about it. Not in your game at all if you don't want to spend $8 on her. Since I think the fanbase's problem with Cynder in the first place is that she was shoved down your throats, the option not to see her, hear her, or even have her mentioned UNLESS YOU WANT TO is exactly what you guys were clamoring for, is it not? The fact that players who are not you have the choice to play as her is nothing to tie yourself in knots over.

She's an optional character that you're free to exclude entirely from your gameplay experience, and that's IF Skylanders is even Spyro canon, which is a matter of debate in and of itself. Fans of Cynder can buy the figure; haters don't have to. Rationally speaking, I can't understand why that's not the end of it. Give the Cynder hate a rest.

Edit: And you're right, it doesn't affect anyone... IF, it's just one post. I clicked on the topic expecting two pages of Good, Bad and Ugly, which is actually a really entertaining and NEW on-topic discussion. Instead, it's just the same Cynder stuff that's been played to death already. I'm not trying to start a fight here, but that really did derail the topic, and it's misleading to people who click on it expecting discussion that has something to do with the game.

Don't know about everyone else, but her fanbase isn't the only reason I hate her. :P

You know, that's actually fair, to a degree. But to be honest, it's the hate that sparks the debate. Lawl, unintentional poetry.

Well, sorry about that. Didn't expect this to happen (trust me, I never would've said anything about it if I knew someone would get mad), especially since I hate going off-topic in the Skylanders section. My apologies.

ANYWAY: I think I want to add some to mine.

No worries, I'm not mad. Let's both rerail it! Doesn't matter if we've posted earlier, there's plenty more to cover.

The Good: Skylanders has kind of changed video games forever. Don't think other companies haven't noticed empty rack after empty rack where figures used to be; if we've seen it, they have too, and the Skylander Revolution is on its way. Forget the Wii; to me, this is the real dawn of four-dimensional gaming, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

The Bad: Just wait until Disney gets in on the act. This is sort of what they wanted Disney Universe to be, they just didn't think of it first, and I'm betting they'll attribute their own game's mediocre sales strictly to Skylanders. They wouldn't be wrong to do so. Next year, expect a way kiddier game with WAY more figures, with the Disney name emblazoned on every inch of it. Activision can't be the only company seeing dollar signs with this franchise.

The Ugly: Empty displays at almost every store. I'd hate to be a kid, oozing Christmas money and excitement in equal measure, who encounters THAT everywhere they go. Even Boomer is now virtually impossible to find.

^ But then Cynder fans will get into a pissy fit about her not having a role. And then Cynder haters and Anti-Cynder fans will get into a pissy fit about her being needlessly inserted into their games.

On a different note, I'd like to add to the BAD and say that many enemies die too quickly. None of the trolls are even mildly threatening, except somewhat the Trollverines.

The enemies do die pretty quick. Makes me wish there was a difficulty setting.

Good: All the dragons, Wrecking Ball, game's very charming, feels more like old Spyro, Zim's VA is pretty funny

Bad: Short, not too many bonuses for beating it, the grammar is often atrocious

Ugly: You have to fight the final boss on the Wii TWICE, Activision sucks for not telling us crap about releases

GOOD: The entire Skylanders concept and idea. Brilliant. Most fun I have had on both my Playstation 3 and Nintendo 3DS.

BAD: Not being able to find every figure that I need to complete my Skylander collection. Does Activision & Toys For Bob not want my money? What's up?

UGLY: No online play for 2 player versus matches. Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-Mart exclusives. Just sell them everywhere and WE WILL BUY THEM!

Good:
- Amazingly detailed figures, as well as being very damage resistant and the entire concept of them
- Great characters and their designs
- The Portal of Power looks nice and it GLOWS!
- Gameplay is fun and getting all the stars on a level can be enjoyably challenging
- Zim is Kaos!
- The MMO is quite entertaining

Bad:
- Everyone fighting about Cynder, it's super annoying
- Hard to find fan art
- The prices of the game + the figures
- Very short and the low level cap, as well as the unability to jump in the Xbox360 version

Ugly:
-"Every goddamn child (adults, too actually) taking away the figures before I can get one

Good : Excellent gameplay that is challenging enough for my kids, yet simple enough for them to make it through (with enough figures). Innovative idea with swaping around figures on a "reader" and having those figures "come to life" in the game. Good story line to keep even me interested in finishing the game.

Bad : when I only had the 5 figures I was not able to get everywhere and collect everything in the game. It should not have been like this. Requiring extra purchases to complete a game is silly and a very obvious cash grab (what? I expected something different from activision?). Only allowing 2 players at time when you can easily fit 4 figures on the portal.

Ugly : no online PvP play. The searching for missing figures to one's collection. Over priced figures on ebay (supply and demand I know and fell victum to it as well). Exclusiveness for some of the characters (makes sense to retailers and I am sure activision made $ on those contracts). No online PvP play.

The Good...

Near limitless potential of creating more characters / expansions for the game.

The Bad...

It probably won't happen. We'll probably see a Skylanders 2, then maybe an explosion of extra characters.

The Ugly...

All of the generation 1 Skylanders will probably not work in the inevitable sequel.

^ Aw, man! I am gonna flip some tables if the last part's true! But if they were nice enough to allow the toys to work on all systems, maybe they'll cut us a break.

Don't worry PinkWater, I have no evidence to back that up. It's more like my pessimism taking control.
