So I got Skylanders for Christmas. I had always told people that I would totally play the game, but would never buy it for myself. Im 20 years old, and when i got it I had some worries that I would keep the game.
Well, I was playing it with some friends and although I have some doubts about my long term interest in the game, I think I am going to keep it. Something about collecting the figurines intrigues me, and I definitely want to level al lot of them up.
I got the starter set, and in addition, the 3 pack of Eruptor, Chop Chop, and Bash.
If I am not mistaken, I am only missing two elements now being grass and air. I was leaning towards the 3 pack with stealth elf and sonic boom, although I have heard its hard to find.
Should I focus on just having one of each element for now, and see how I really like the game before dropping money? Or are there benefits to having certain characters that you guys think I should hunt for.
My biggest concern about this game is that it is going to be too short, especially after spending a lot of money on the characters. Is this the case?
Thanks for your time.

The game is great, you choose a cool triple pack ( a note: it's life, not grass ). Even if you finish the storyline you have to do if you want the Heroic Challenges, get 3 stars in every level, level up all the characters to level 10, get all the accolades and if you want, get all the 32 main characters.

Okay, here's my honest opinion on Skylanders...
The game IS a little short, but depending on how you like character building, it has tons of replay value. If you're only counting from the second you start until the defeat of Kaos, and have no desire to PVP at all, or do more leveling after the end of the game, you'll be through all Skylanders has to offer in a few days. However, these characters can also be used in a very competent 3DS version (a completely different game) and in the online Universe, which, while it's still only in beta, is intriguing. As for characters, you do have the right approach--get one of each element, beat the game, do all your collecting, and see if, even after all of that, more characters still appeal. Definitely get the pack with Stealth Elf. She'll almost certainly be your best character, and Sonic Boom is no slouch. Also, I recommend Darklight Crypt and Pirate Seas. The Magic Items they come with, especially the Dragon Chest, are monumentally useful, for one. Secondly, the levels themselves are among the game's better, and each comes with a pair of rare hats. The hat from Pirate Seas is incredible; possibly the entire game's best. Finally, Terrafin, your pack-in with Pirate Seas, is outstanding in-game, and can get you through Trophies/Achievements that would normally have you pulling out your hair without breaking a sweat. Ghost Roaster is way better than Chop Chop, as well, and even though both he and Terrafin are repeating elements, I wouldn't let that stop you. |

So would you guys say the 3 pack with stealth elf and sonic boom would be good?
Or should I buy them separately and get a different air character? |

The only air characters available right now are Sonic Boom and Whirlwind. And trying to find a whirlwind could be more stress than it's worth. So just got for Sonic Boom.
I am of the opinion that the game has plenty of replayability. My wife and I have spent a fair amount of time already just trying to get a 100% completion on every level, and now she's talking about wanting to try out pvp, while I want to explore some of the more unique abilities some of the characters have. We've been playing the game on and off since we got it about a week ago and are only around 10 or 12 stages in, and only half those are at 100%.

I think that would be a good buy! If you can still find it!
