So I'm back home from Thanksgiving break and am starting to compile some data for my new Skylanders blog. I have the game on the Wii and am wanting to make sure everything is the same across all platforms.
Using Spyro's Sheep Burner path, do you all get the same damage values as these:
Flameball - 20 damage
Charge - 10 damage
Earth Pound - 50 damage
(Keep in mind the occasional critical hit will change the value, I think adding 50%)
Thanks!!

It depends on your elemental power stat as far as I know (which changes depending on how many different magic Skylanders you own as well as the boosts from Heroic Challenges. The three Spyros count as 1 magic character.
It also depends on the armor stat of the enemies. Some enemies take a lot less damage than others (the ones in heroic challenges tend to take more damage than the ones in the regular levels, for example). I don't have true numbers for you here, but just keep in mind that stats do affect the numbers (I would hope anyway). |

Sorry Wim, I thought the same thing... but it turns out that's not how the game works at all. At least not on the Wii, and I expect it to be the same on all platforms. Elemental power does not boost your normal attack, it only affects you when you're in an area where Eon says you are more powerful there. Eventually I'll research exactly how much change occurs there.
For now I can say with a high level of confidence that your armor rating doesn't lower the amount of damage you take but rather how often you take it. Sometimes when you're hit, a shield icon appears and you take no damage. That's your armor. I'm guessing the higher your rating, the more often that happens. And I'm 99.9% sure your damage output is based solely on the upgrades you've received (or haven't) from Persephone. It's not based on the enemy, because I just tested it on level 2 and level 22. Spyro did 20 damage to all enemies. And in player-vs-player, where I know armor ratings are different, Spyro is still dealing 20 no matter what (unless he crits).

^Yaggleberry is correct. I actually was coming on today to explain these findings but it looks like someone beat me to it. I will post character damage for the upgrade paths I have chosen when I get a chance.

The information here is more or less what I wrote most recently on my Skylanders blog but it's in a little bit neater and more concise format.
I appreciate Littlerain introducing this concept to me, which led me to investigate further.

Which leads me to the question: What do the stats actually do?
- HP: More hitpoints so you can take more damage. This one is obvious. - Speed is your movement speed (or at least it seems that way, I don't think it affects attack speed any) - Elemental Power affects your damage bonus in the "xxx Skylanders are stronger here" areas (?) - Armor reduces the likelihood that an attack actually hits you instead of reduced damage (?) - Critical Hit - Not sure. Does it increase the chances of you doing a critical hit? Is the number a percentage or just a random number? 75 for a Critical Hit doesn't seem to give me critical hits 3 out of 4 attacks anyway. - Heroic Level: Number of different Heroic challenges completed with the character. Doesn't do anything. - ??? Level (forgot what it was called): I believe this is a stat from the 3DS game. My Stealth Elf has 1 for it, every other Skylander is 0 for me. Edit: I just noticed on your blog that you put a post on this yesterday. Oops. |
