Upgrade paths? [CLOSED]

I'm just wondering what it means by the upgrade paths in the game. Are they the ones with two stars on the character bios (the screen where it shows the moves, stats, equips, etc).

Yes. If you upgrade them enough you will get 2 paths to chose from. Each path is based around your primary or second attack usually.
