The Spyro games have a long (as in going back to the beginning,) tradition of putting popular references in the game, some rather subtle.
I just found one, at the start of the "Goo Factory" part, the (mole?) is wearing a helmet like the one worn by the main character in "Full Metal Jacket."

In Spyro three, in the level called Icy Peak, You meat two brothers, Bob and Doung, who speak with thick Canadian Accents. That's a reference to a Canadial show about two brothers, Bob and Doug.
EDIT. Oops, my mistake not a tv show of it's own, but a sketch on SCTV.

I remember that.
And in Ripto's Rage, in the part where Spyro rescues baby turtles, Spyro encounters a chef Rhynoc that sounds like the "Soup Nazi" from the sitcom, "Seinfeld." I like subtle and (no-so-subtle) references to movies and TV, and inside jokes. Like in "Year of The Dragon," when Spyro encointers Moneybags in the part with the magicians, if he says no, Moneybags says he's going to turn Spyro into a blue hedgehog. Still watching for more references in Skylanders.

In ANB and TEN, there's a dead Crash Bandicoot.

In the DS Version of ANB, you can see him tied up over a fire in Dante's Freezer. I'm pretty sure he's frozen in a block of ice at the White Isle, but I'm not sure which console.

PS2 and Wii versions for the TEN Crash cameo. But he's not actually dead in the DS ANB. He's just tied up over a fire. His eyes are still open, and he shows an expression of sorts.
