The cannon that's located a few feet back from the door. (It should be directly below the level with the crabs on top, and the half-submerged boats in the sand, which leads to Hunter's skateboarding challenge in the level.)

Well, interesting you speak of one by the portal. If you mean on the shipwreck with the portal to Lost Fleet in it, then I'm not sure there is actually an 'X' on it. But if there is, I think it's just part of the scenery.

I think he means the X shape the planks make infront of the Lost fleet portal in Evening Lake. You know, at the floor of the lake. I think that was probably there for decoration...

Yeah. Probably just a part of the scenery that the game designers did when they were designing the outer section of this level, like "Pyro girl" said. (They probably did that to symbolize the pirate-like level you were about to enter. Although, Lost Fleet wasn't really much of a pirate-like level, in my opinion. The only things that I could see being related to pirate-like stuff were the boat-like platforms you have to jump on to advance through the level, and the pirate-like flags located on some of the boats. Maybe it was used to represent the very first challenge in the level where you have to collect the egg locked inside a treasure chest-like box........) But yeah, there's nothing of importance underneath that X, "chis mom". But if you are dying to find out what's under there, simply perform the swimming glitch in this level, leave the area, and immediately go underneath it. You should then discover that the only thing that's below that X is basically air.

The "x" is part of the mast ( pole on deck of ship that supports sail.) its just that it fell of the ship and is down there.

OHHH, that 'X'! Yeah, you can probably tell by the odd bit with something missing at the top of the ship...
