Chapter 1 Origins of The Light

Two months after the defeat of Malefor and the Dragon Relms are safe. Though what of the dragons in the cold north? They were never touched by Malefors armys and they dissmissed the breaking of the earth to be a natural disaster.Most of them anyway, one group of dragons blamed the dark and rather anti social shadow dragons for the massive earthquake.

The shadow dragons lived in the mountians away from the other tribes. The other tribes were the poison, fear,wind,silver, and gold dragons. The shadow dragons liked to toy with magic and expeirement with its power. This often resulted in disasters and injuries. Because of these things many dragons saw them as evil.

Edventualy the leader of the northern dragons, Bone the golden, banded together all of the tribes except for the shadow's and created a new group.

Their name, The Light.

Their purpose, eliminate the darkness.

Chapter 2 First Strike

Up in the mountians life went on as usual for the shadow tribe.Except for one family. Up in one of the higher caves sat soon to be mother, Sybil she waited anxiosly around a trembling egg.

"If only your father were here." she sighed. The eggs father,Alner, was kiled by a swarm of wyverns only a week earlier. Soon a crack appered in the eggs shell it was lengthening with every movment.

CRACK!

The shell split in two revealing a pitch black dragoness, she had a silver underbelly and wing insides.Her eyes were a dark bluish grey. Sybil leaned down and nudged the hatchling lovingly.

"Now what shall we name you?" Sybil wondered. Her eyes suddenly lit up,
"Anthem. Do you like your name?" she said. Anthem squeked in what seemed like agreement.

The small dragoness struggled to her feet and tired to take a step but stumbled over heself landing on her face. Sybil laughed and went to pick her up when a light grey messenger dragon burst in.

"Were being attacked!Everyone who isnt fighting down to the shelter!" he instructed. Sybil grabbed Anthem and shot out into the air. With the combonation of hevy rains and and smoke she could barly see.

Squinting she spotted the shelter and flew as fast as possible towards it. Anthem was starting to squirm and cry in fear. The mother held on as tight as she could with out hurting her until they reached the shelter.

The shelter was an under ground cave with a cover only openable by magic. Sybil approched the cave only to find the way blocked by an enormous scarlet red dragon. He swiped at Sybil and she blocked with her wing.

"Let us through!" she hissed.He snickered and slashed her face leaving it bleeding.Anthem cowered behind her mother wimpering. Sybil blasted the male dragons face with shadow fire he reeled back shook his head.

He returned the strike with far missles they pushed her back and left her weak.The fear dragon followed up by knoking her to the ground. He paralyzed the shadow dragon with siren screams.

"Not so tough now are you?" he laughed. She hissed and roared in outrage. The male sliced Sybils underbelly open with his sharp tail. Blood streamed from the wound and she screamed in pain. Anthem was too shocked too move.The scarlet dragon turned to Anthem,

"I could kill you right now save you from dying from starvation...But I wont im just goin to let you watch me kill your mother!" he pushed the little dragoness in front of her mother. Then he bit Sybils neck and flew away.

Sybil tried to say somthing but only managed to cough up blood she took one last shaky breath and her eyes rolled into her head.

Anthem cried and sat where she was through the entire storm, all alone.

Oh, my.
*small tears*
Poor little Anthem.

and they call themselves the ligth? "the idiots that dont understand most of themselves are evil and the rest stupid" would fit better

That was the point.

Chapter 3 Friends

Anthem turned around and waited for the shelter door to open, it never did. Either they had left her without noticing or they were all dead.The hatchling scoped the area and saw two figures to the north. Hoping they could help she ran to them the two figures revaled themselves to be dragons, on deep blue and one green. Anthem grinned widely and ran around the two dragons .The green dragon flicked her away,

"Who are you?!" she said. Anthem just looked confused.

"Calm down Ink its just a hatchling." the blue one said.Ink leaned down to Anthem's hight,

"Wheres you mom kid?" she asked hostily. Anthem turned and gestured for the two teen dragons to follow her. They finnaly reached Sybil's body, bird wir already swarming around. The blue dragon roared to scare the birds away. They scattered to reveal the carcess, Anthem wimpered and looked up at them.

"What could have happened Gelu?" Ink whispered.He looked around at the carnage.

"I-I have no idea" Gelu stammered.Ink sighed,

"Well we should get going"

"Without the hatcling?" Gelu asked in shock.

"Well how are we supposed to take care of it?Were having a hard enough time doing that for ourselves." Ink snapped.

"So your just going to let it die?" Gelu said angrily.

"FINE! But can only keep it until the next city! somone will take care of it there." she yellled.Anthem was getting scared now from the fighting.Gelu calmed her down then picked her up. He gestured for them to get moving night was approaching fast. They flew for hours seeing nothing but snow then they finnaly saw city lights.

Many dragons were awake for such a late hour. Everything was open and lively.

"Theres an orphanage down the street lets go" Ink stated hastily.

"Come on lets look around a bit first!It's a nice city." Gelu suggested. Ink was getting angry,

"No we can look around after we drop it off!" she growled.

"Its a her!" he countered.

"Stop getting attached to it!"she hissed.Gelu started to yell,

"So your jut going to abandon her like our parents did?!That makes you no better!"

"At least im getting her a family!"

"I went through and orpahage for two years!I went through seven familys!" he growled.Soon a police dragon came over to see what was happening,

"Whatss goin gon here?- Wait is that a shadow dragon?"he asked in disgust.

"Yes, why?" Gelu asked suspioucly.

"You are both under aresst for haboring the enemy!" the police dragon said firmly.

"Run!" Ink yelled. They took off being closly followed by the older dragon.Ink twisted around and shot poison into his eyes.He cursed and turned back.They landed behind a big mass of rocks.

"This.is what i get...for taking us on vacation." Gelu panted. Anthem was dizzy and walking incirces befor she fell over. Ink helped her up.

"What's your name anyway kid?" she asked. Anthem spent a few miniuts trying to for the word then said it,

"Anthem"

Wow lot's of diolouge. Not as good as the other chapters in my opinion, the others seemed more solid.

Chapter 4 Asassin

After that incident the three dragons had to travel from place to place until they were caught with Anthem. It had been about a year an they were currently hiding in a wood on the east side of the planet.

"Gelu check this out!" Anthem yelled she almost hd th shadow claw perfect. By now Gelu and Ink had become like siblings to Anthem.

"Thats good, concidering you dont have a teacher" he said aprovingly.Anthem smiled and let the claw disinigrate. Ink walked into the area with a small deer.

"You guys need to stop slacking off al the time were only safe for now." Ink sighed. The three sat down to eat when they heard a noise. They looke to see waht it was but nothing else happened for a while.

Suddenly out of the bushes burst a scarlet red dragon. He shot three blasts of fear at them the dragons doged narrowly. Ink retured fire with poison blasts. They hit his legs slowing him down.Anthem was about to blow shadow fire when she recognised him. He had killed her mother.

Anthem went beserk diving at him and clawing at his eyes. All of her magic was drained quickly. Ink and Gelu were doing their best to help but it was difficult trying to avoid Anthem.

"Get off!You little....!" the fear dragon yelled he soon smacked her small form across the ground.Ink na Gelu tried to stand up to him but he was to strong. They were soon to tired to fight. They thoght that for certian they wee all dead.

Then a mirical happend.

A streak of purple burst through the bushes flames propeeling in front of it like a comet. It smaked the fear dragon away. Shocke the scarlet dragon flew away.

"Are you all right?" said the purple dragon.

"Who are you?" Ink questioned. Gelu said nothing as he was helping Anthem awake.

"Im Spyro I came when I heard the commotion.Why are you out here?" Spyro wondered.

"Why haven't you attacked us yet?" she retorted.

"Whay would I do that?"

"Because anyone that isnt shadow is part of that Light and there out to kill all of the shadows." She explained.

"What? I haven't heard about that. Why dont I take you hree back to the temple and we can talk more there."Spyro helped Anthems ingured form into the air and gestured for the other two dragons to folllow.

Chapter 5 The Temple

Spyro took Anthem to the infirmary for a broken leg then proceeded to take Ink and Gelu to their rooms. The little shadow ragon was laying on her little nest when a grey dragon approached her (Note:Spyro and Cynder are in their younger forms and the rest of the charecters are ANB/TEN style).

"Hi im Zant whats your name?"said the dragon. Anthem had seen this dragon around and normally he wasnt so outgoing mabye somthing was wrong.

"Im Anthem." she replied. Zant nodded,

"Your a shadow dragon right?" she questioned.

"Yes.....why?"Anthem said warily. Zant smiled.

"So am I! Well..Im sorry to bother you I was just happy to see one of my own." he mutterd.He said goodbye an was about to walk away when Anthem spoke up,

"Wait! I want to ask you somthing!" she called out.He turned all looked at her puzzled,

"Yeah?" he asked. She did her best to preform the shadow claw.

"Will you teach me?" she wondered. She smile pleadingly. Zant sat for a moment thinking,

"Alright. We start the miniute your leg gets better." Zant agreed.He left with a nod. And the second he left,

"YES!!" the whole infirmary stared at her.She grinned nervously and went back to practicing her shadow claw.

By the rooms

Spyro met up with Cynder along the way and they both showed the other two dragons to their rooms.

"Well welcome and I hope you can find a good life here" Cynder said.The purple and black dragons left. the room.

"This really is a nice place." commented Ink.Gelu agreed with her.

"Hey im going to check on Anthem will you stay here and get things ready?" she asked.

"Okay." Gelu awnsered.He was going to set the nests when he realised there was only one.

Down in Spyros Room

"Your positive you have no other rooms to spare?" Gelu asked.

"Im sure. You asked 7 times the awnsers not changing."Spyro sighed.

At the Infirmary

"Hows you leg doing?" Ink asked.

"Not bad but guess what! I have somone to teach me how ot use my shadow powers!" Anthem exlaimed.Ink suddenly looked sad she had wanted to each her.

"Thats..great." she forced a smile and left.

At The Lights Main Head Quarters

THe fear dragon entered the kings room,

"The little shadow is at the temple on the eastern side of the planet." he informed.The king laughed happily,

"You have done well Terror...We shall launch an attack soon" he said. Terror bowed and left the room.

"You will not elude me for much longer little Anthem"

It had been two weeks and Anthem's leg was finnaly better. Zant had visited her throughout the week seeing if she was ready to train.They walked together to the dojo.Anthem looked around,

"Its so...big" she said in awe.Zant nodded in agreement.

"Show me your shadow claw" he stated. Anthem didi her best and it was near perfectt. Zant looked it over,

"The claws are to bent focus to straiten them out" he instructed. She did so perfecting the caw.

"Good now foucs the energy forward to shoot it" he said. Anthem shot the claw into his face, leaving behind scraches.

"I didnt say..shoot it at me!" Zant coughed.When he wa steady again he spoke,

"OK now you need to make sevrel claws and shoot them all in different directions"he said. Then he preformed it almost effortlessly. She copied the move it was almost the same but the claws were weaker and didnt go as far.Zant had placed himself safly behind her, hoping not to get hit.

"Very good but dont conserve yu energy as much you have more magic then you think"Zant advisedAnthem smiled and tried again, it was much better.She turned to Zant,

"Thanks"

They had continued on to the shadow fire and the shadow cloak and mastered them.Zant had Anthem show him the three moves he had taught her, they were fantastic.Zant dipped his had to the side in approvel.

"Now we test those skills. Attack me!" Zant exclamied.Anthem was shocked for a moment Zant dove at her she doged just in time.He recovered quickly and shot shadow fire at Anthem she countered it with her own. She then took the offesive role and melted into the ground as a shadow shooting up below Zant and knocking him off of his feet.

He blasted shadow claws on after the other at Anthem she avoided them until one hit her in the face. She was stumbling around trying to get the black smoke off of her face.Zant took his advantage and pinned her to the ground.

"We'll have to practice more.But it was good for the first time"Zant smirked and let her up. She gasped for air,

"Where...did you learn... to fight like that?!" she qestioned.Zant's expression suddenly became as hard as stone,

"You dont need to know that." he stated coldly. Anhtem was taken by surprise.

"What?"she stammered.

"Are you deaf? You. Dont.Need.To.Know."Zant hissed he then turned and stormed out of he dojo eaving Anthem alone when nightfall came.

Chapter 7 Betrayed

Left in shock Anthem just sat there until the sun was completely out of sight.

"I'd better get to Gelu and Ink's room"Anthem mutterd to herself. Then she realised that Zant had made her keep her eyes shut until they got to the dojo.She wondered why she hadnt questioned it.But she needed to get somwhere so she ran out into the hallway.

All of the doors were locked and the ligths were out.Anthem took a turn through a large door into a room with a small pool in the middle. Anhtem could see herself in the water, clear as day.Anthem touched the water she couldent but her paw in, only drag it across the top of the pool.

"Strange.." she soon left the the room and continued searching. Finnaly she came acsross a room with the lights on. The door was locked so she listened at the door to find out what was in there.

"Yep the plan went perfectly she's probably just sitting in the dojo room" said a voice. Then Anthem realised the voice belonged to Zant.

"I trust your act was beliveable?" said another voice.Zant laughed,

"Yeah she think's theres some secret about where I learned to fight!"he snickered.The other voice laughed as well,

"I will be going to dispose of her right now" the other voice said.Anthem scrambled to find a place to hide but she wasnt fast enough.A red dragon stepped out of the room and saw her,

"You!" he tried to grab her but she avoided it and ran.He folowed her and she took to the air hoping to get away.The red dragon was still faster. Anthem thought of a plan, she knew where the elders slept if she led him there he would get caught.

Anthem took the turn and he ran rigth below her. THe red dragon reached to bite her but missed.Anthem grinned when she saw the door she pushed through it and he barred after her.

The three elders shot up from there sleep at the noise.

"He tried to kill me!" Anthem gasped gesturing to the red dragon.He pretended to look innocent.

"I just folllowed her I think she may be sleep walking" he lied.Terrador lightily tapped Anthems shoulder.She looked up at him.

"I think you were having a nightmare little one." Terrador said softly.

"I'll take her to her family,you talk to him Terrador" Cyril said.Anthem told him that she lived with Gelu and Ink and Cyril took her to their room.

"Whats going on?" Gelu asked Ink was still asleep. Anthem just laied down on the nest.

"Nothing.."she sid then dozd off to sleep.

Chapter 8 Nightmares

Everyone else was sleeping peacefully but Anthem tossed and turned in her nest, mumbling at nothing.

Anthem stood in a clouded plain. Rain poured from the skies and lighting flashed around her. She shivered at the extreme cold nad loked around for any sign of life. Here eyes lit up when she spotteed a glimmer in the distance.

Giggling happily she ran towrds it,slowly it began to take the shape of an adult female shadow dragon. Anthen knew this was her mother and went to nuzzle her leg. Her mother lay down with her and carresed her gently.
"I love you." Anthem said whistfully.Gelu and Ink alo appered,they smiled happily and gestured for Anthem to run with them.They flew around and her mother watched from below. THis was how she wanted her life,careless and happy...

Suddenly another creature approached the four dragons. It was just a giant red blot of magic. It laughed and Anthem suddenly was knocked away and she couldnt move. She lookeed on the scene from a distance.

The red blot soon was taking over her mother and her friends,
"Anthem!Help me!" her mother cried.Anthem struggled to move but it was as if her feet were glued to the ground and she could only watch as the enhtire land was engulfed in red..

Anthem shot up from her sleep,her heart beating a thousand times a miniute it seemed.She looked to see Ink and Gelu just sleeping normaly and realise it was just a nightmare.Although it had seemed all to real....
