Pretty unrelevant question:
If I scan a second blue chest (my own and the one from my friend): Does the game give a bonus to the weapons and gear or does it say something like: "You already have this chest in your collection."?

It will give you duplicates of all the parts and give a bonus.

Each duplicate item you find gives a +12 stat boost each time. Trading chests is good.
