no...I will never understand why people keep asking this. Nintendo will NEVER allow their IPs on rival systems.

DK and Bowser are Nintendo systems only (just the Wii U for Imaginators since there's no Wii or 3DS game this time)

But Crash and Neo Cortex, the new guest stars, work on all consoles. This is probably what's causing some confusion.

People think Activision learned their less for making Crash and Cortex to work on all consoles this year, but they won't really learn until DK and Bowser are finally on all consoles

There's no lesson to learn for Activision, they just can't put Bowser and DK on other consoles...

It is not up to Activision in any way, shape, or form.

it's up to Nintendo, and as I've already said trillions of times they will NEVER allow their IPs on rival systems ( mobile doesn't count, nor do pre-NES consoles ). Crash is owned by Activision, that's why they work on all versions....

Except for allowing the situation to be present in their franchise game that was built on being inter-operable.

Sure, but there's not a thing to be done about that going forward. It's not like Activision has a time machine, and if they did, I'd hope they'd put it to better use than going back to nix DK and Bowser from Superchrgers.

Yep, hindsight at this part. We shouldn't even be asking the question---frustrating component of Sky-History. Allowing figures to be available everywhere but perhaps exclusive on launch like they did this time (with an announcement of their availability) was how they should've done it last time.

Nintendo simply would *not* have allowed it.

The *only* options were Bowser/DK on Nintendo versions or No Bowser/DK on any versions whatsoever.

The end result is the same for anyone who owned the non-Nintendo versions: No Bowser/DK.

We're crossing again. I know Nintendo's policy. I know what Skylanders is "supposed" to be. Exclusivity of figures on platforms wasn't one of those things. that's all.

Actually, it WAS "supposed" to have exclusive figures. And games. The whole franchise was "supposed" to be exclusive to Nintendo.
A list of other things that Skylanders was "supposed" to be:
1. A Spyro reboot where you couldn't even play as Spyro (as opposed to an almost unrelated franchise that just *happened to use a PLAYABLE Spyro cameo to get the ball rolling)
2. An M rated game
3. A game with animated blood
4. Called Spyro's Kingdom
5. Star a red Dragon named... uh... dang it!
6. Have Vahtek be the Undead Dragon Skylander instead of Cynder
7. Not have Cynder

TLDR: Plans change. Deal with it.

But listing ideas that were thrown around for the game is different than what the final product was supposed to be (and promoted to be). And I have never heard of it being an M rated game. That just seems ridiculous, especially when they were wanting to make it a Nintendo exclusive game (who would never go for that). Unless that's why Nintendo turned it down.

You do realize that there are already Nintendo-exclusive M rated games, right?

#19 Posted: 17:00:39 18/10/2016
It was supposed to be M rated, and Nintendo turned the exclusivity deal down because they tough
the idea of a game with toys would not succeed.

And I know the history of the back-office negotiations with Skylanders. What it ENDED up being was a cross platform game and was marketed as such. Also, it's not respectful to tell me to "deal with it". I'm sure Activision is "dealing with it" in regards to the lackluster sales of SC...

I say make the next game only playable on one system, the one you don't have. Then I can come in here and tell you to "deal with it" with an evil grin. smilie

So, you raise an interesting proposal.

Skylanders is dying. Let's say, next year, the decision is made that Skylanders will *only* be on one platform *or* won't be released at all. Which do you pick?

That's making a big assumption that there will be a Skylanders next year. They pulled VV in on this one and already have them toiling away on Crash Bandicoot. Judging from the lack of interest on release this year I think it is a big "if" on whether it comes out (at least next year, they will probably give it another go in a few years). I'm actually skeptical we see all the waves this year, at least at most retailers.

I think that falls under the "won't be released at all" option...

Activision on more Skylanders games.

Activision Employ: Boss our cash cow is sick! I think it might be dying!
Activision Boss: Just keep milking it. Don't talk to me about it again till its dead and has flys around it. At that point we can get a sick and try to prop it up.
