What do you think is wrong with the creation system? No need to mention the locked classes and ninja classes (or as I like to call them, the "how do I work with this" class).
For me, I was disappointed that we can't change colours of our weapon. We could have stuff like a blue fire Angel Sword.

It isn't really connected to the creation itself but I would have liked weapon particles colored according to the Elements.
It isn't that annoying while playing, but they would have been an appreciated detail. More Magic Moment animations to choose from would have been cool as well.

Customize wise...
-Weapon color was real upsetting -it seems certain classes have different options - my ninja is weird - its OK but then my sorcerer...is not OK, let us have defaults, then give us options for "missing bodies" or "floating" -When you have a character idea, but not the parts, this is amplified for robots has robotic stuff has been very scarce for me, as has undead stuff. I understand why from a gameplay perspective, but I've withheld putting crystals on because I can't make what I really want yet Power wise... -No point in having multiple of any class, they lock you into a class, but, but the "paths" are more limited than Swap Force. -Element is nigh worthless. You get ONE attack from whatever crystal you are using. there is no other benefit. My son's brawler can do a fire dash, outside of that its just a brawler. My Dark sorc can do a black hole, outside of that, its just a sorc. They REALLY need to do something else with this. Give attacks from a fire crystal a DoT/burn effect. Water crystal leads to knockback. Dark have some kind of gravity affects. Light increase defense, etc etc etc. At this point, I don't CARE about the crystals not being resetable - there is no point. -Unreall |

The weapon coloring is annoying, given they have color themes for everything else.
Most of the limitations however is a direct design result of making this potentially complex process very simple for their target audience. Some aspects, like the weapon re-coloring, might be addressed in a service pack (crossing fingers). They might even surprise us by patching with more options / pieces and colors....all we can do is wait. Some of the comments about elemental mis-fires sounds important for them to address because creation crystal sales might be at risk (ie not providing enough value to justify getting duplicate crystals). Me, personally? I'm not engaging in imaginator creation until I feel comfortable with whatever I have in my creator mobile app and they've patched some of this. I'm going to do my first couple of passes with Senseis only, and then a couple of passes with only imaginators (towards the end of the run). |

To me the biggest flaw with the creation system is the tiered levels of gear.
If I get a common sword that I love the look of but has super weak stats, once I get a an epic or legendary sword there's never a reason to use that common sword again. Unless you want to take a big hit to your stats. What I propose is a way to upgrade the quality of any piece of gear, otherwise you lose out on a ton if customization options. |

It's your standard style vs function every skyfan must answer for themselves. Remember Hats? I put on the ugliest hats in the world just to get max speed. I suspect this will be the case here.

I'm far enough into the game that I started getting duplicates of common weapons which increase their stats a little. It's only by a small amount but at least it's something.

The thing with Ninja and Swashbuckler bodies. It was so simple to make it different. Just put the "None" option on Chests and then all classes can be bodyless or not. Then just put Tails on the Legs category and everyone can have tail legs.
And the reset option. But we all know that.

^ ^its a little more complicated then that . You have to program the animations and movements for each of the classes for each body type ( all the classes move differently) .
My main issue now that I've played a decent amount with imaginators, is that the element doesn't really do anything except have 1 attack. Soul gems should've been elemental attacks . Having 3 different Brawler attacks ( primary , tertiary and the soul gem) is kind of pointless. The soul gem ends up out shining one of the other attacks anyway.

To me it's clear TfB wanted the editor to have much more options (at least in terms of aesthetics), but run out of time: and with all the other things this game is offering right now I cannot really complain.
But the soluctions are easy, if they want to patch the game. As for look vs function, I have no doubt with this series. With certain games, like the Souls, I force myself to use the best equipment around despite the overall style of my character but with Skylanders I always favor the aesthetics to the point of even choosing paths basing on it certain times. Never used hats. So if one of my Imaginators will have to be extremely weak to look the way I thought it, no problems at all.

I mean, with a 45+ level cap, I don't think stats will ever be a worry for people looking for enough Senseis, as well as the stat boosts for repeat Gear.

I don't have a lot of complaints, but it's not a perfect system.
The 'big head no body' and 'snake body' character looks should have been options for every class, not forced onto a particular class. I should be able to make a naga sorceror and a big-head smasher and a normal dude ninja if I want to. The worst limitation IMO, because it could have been really cool to have these body types as options instead of having them forced based on class. The weapons and/or their attacks should have been recolorable. At bare minimum they should inherit some elemental trait from the element you're using. A Water Sorceror and a Fire Sorceror and a Life Sorceror should all have differently colored basic attacks and the fact that they don't is a bit disappointing. Even if it was just a basic particle recolor thing. A waist slider is sorely missed when it comes to certain top/bottom combos getting a weird hourglass look if you make your character bulky. Plus it would have allowed for some 'fat' looking characters which would have been great too. It would have also been nice to have like a Draconoid or Draconid class or something along those lines, a quadruped with claw and tail attacks and a few different breath attacks for the class's special powers. There's so many 4 legged skylanders it feels weird we can't make one. Other than those three things I honestly don't have any complaints. The color system is awesome and the sliders that do exist are really good, I love the variety of parts and all the classes are awesome. It's a great system with some minor problems (that might take major work to change, tbh) Here's hoping they keep Imaginators around in sequels and expand the options and classes as they go! |

Some great ideas...who knows....maybe they'll enhance it over the upcoming months. Maybe someone can find out if they're going to tweak it a bit and if so can we get a wish list? Keep it simple, nothing outrageous. Most of the stuff here sounds reasonable on the surface.

Guys, don't forget Quickshots changed body type during development; they were most likely planning for multiple bodies at some point and ran out of time.
What I don't get is why Quickshots didn't keep their tiny opption. Would it make the class too "special" to have two types? Yeah, but it's waste of dev time to throw it away.

You guys have some great insight on some of this. Because of how big the characters are in combat, and possibly being on the Wii, the chest pieces don't really "show", and feel a little mmuddy, I'm actually not complaining about it - but beccause of it, I don't even recognize "female" parts. I haven't tried making a female character because robots and ninjas, and dead things are more my schtic than realistic looking things - but thinking on it, the options body wise don't seem to stick out (no pun intended). When I get home, maybe I'll toy around with making a female skylander and see how that goes.
As for running out of time, that happens these days, but they CAN patch the game to add content in and SHOULD add-in costume options - frankly they should entertain doing like Rainbow6 and I'm sure other games (City of Heroes cough cough) - and have holiday themed sets, and other "unlockables". Despite the negativity of not being able to reset a crystal, I haven't cared yet too much yet, and wouldn't mind buying more crystals (if I could buy another fire crystal *sigh*) if I felt there was a reason to make multiple characters, but right now, all you really need is one type for a battle class element plays such a small role (I bought the Dark set FOR the Dark crystal and am very underwhelmed as I sit here with a grey GOLDEN Queen, and only one dark move). - Unreall |

Adding a filter for certain types of parts (male/female, battle class etc) seems to make sense to me. I know the idea is to experiment but I also feel like it feels more franken-landerish without getting some of the core pieces relevant to what you want. Right now I'm having to cycle through all 120+ pieces and hunt for it.

Speaking of filters, man, I wish there was a "pitch" subcategory for Voice mods. I love combining the Big filter for new voices(Big Fairy is a pretty good substitute to Vampress' piss poor attempt at spooky), but since it's a filter, you can't use Radio or Canyon on top of it.

The inability to preview a classes abilities before choosing you class, the body restrictions for ninja and swashbuckler and the inability to preview pieces you haven't yet unlocked were what bothered me. Another thing that would've been good is the ability to choose an item set as a base for your skylander so you could then tweak it instead of having to choose each piece individually.
