Defective Star Cast?

I just bought about 3/4ths of the new skylanders that came out today and out of all of them Star Cast is the only defective one, suprisingly last year the Nightfall and sea shadow I got on release day where defective (no surprise on Nightfall though) has anyone else got a defetive skylander already in general?

How is it defective? Is it not reading, reading as another figure, etc?

Doesn't even pop up in the game, I am using the Trap team portal since if I want to switch portals I'll have to end up taking apart my huge TV set up. But it did say my light CC was corrupted randomly and asked me to restart the crystal or try putting it back on the portal, I just took the crystal off and put it back on and it worked just fine.

You're supposed to be able to use the Trap Team portal, since this game supports traps and the new one doesn't. If all other figures are working, I'd say it's just a random glitch with this one.

Sometimes magnetic interference with speakers and other equipment near portal can cause problems. Try and make sure the portal is clear a few feet from them.

...Or, it's simply a defective figure. I've seen quite a few videos showing it working on other games, so it feels like you need to take it back to the store or let Activision Support ship out a replacement.

My star cast works, I'm on Ps4. So it must be a broken figure
