But it specifically says that it includes that particular portal... Unless that's a placeholder image they put in the press release. That could very well be a possibility, too
New players wouldn't need a trap slot if they didn't have any traps and people who already have traps will probably use their portals that support them, if they're used at all. Makes sense that they wouldn't use anything with a trap slot for the starter pack.

But then why does SuperChargers' Portal have the trap slot?
I think that's not the finished packaging at all: many things look unfinished so far, from the figures themselves to this.

I think that's a placeholder for "Sensei", would find it quite weird to have a Skylander with a special title in his own name.
