I know it's probably waaaaaaaay too early to say stuff like this, but I have a little theory as to what Skylanders 6's gimmick could potentially be.

So you know how for these last couple games, they've been teasing the next one with one of the new Skylanders? Like how Trap Shadow teased Trap Team and how Tread Head teased this game? Well, obviously, we should probably expect to see a pattern of sorts. Now, the next game could be anything, and any character could hint at it. Like, Splat could hint at a color-based gimmick, or... Well, that's all I got other than this:

What if the hint for the next game isn't in just one character... but two?
The two in question: Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser.

So, what does that mean? I think the next game's going to be... Bongo Beaters or... Hammer Slammers? No.
I think the next game isn't actually going to have a major gimmick, but instead...
It'll be a full-out crossover.

With Amiibo characters?
Oh, no. That would mean the entire game would be Nintendo exclusive - And THAT would be really unfair.

A crossover with characters that would be universally compatible. Like, say characters that also come from multi-platform games, or from television shows, comic books, etc. I think we can all agree the Amiibolanders, while a cool addition, weren't executed in the best possible way. Soooo... What if they're an experiment to see if they can make crossovers work for the next game? And if so, what if the crossover also tied into the game's concept? Like, for example, they crossed over with Star Wars (which obviously wouldn't happen since Disney Infinity called dibs), and the gimmick of the game was using the Force?

But keep in mind, my theory doesn't really hold much water, and it's all just my personal opinion and speculation. I'm really in no right to say how likely this is (because admittedly, if they did do a crossover for Sky6, it'd probably more likely just be another two Amiibolanders) because I don't work for Activision and don't have any friends or relations who do. Just thought I'd spitball this out there.

So, thoughts on this? Or what're your predictions?

Well it is truly obvious: they gave us Fiesta so the ONLY logical answer is music!

No offense, but gosh I hope not. Maybe it is my personal bias (alright disregard the maybe) but I would hate an entire game with no new characters. And also biased by saying I don't want comic book characters in Skylands.

Huh. I guess Eye Brawl is the one who teased Swap force and Lightningrod is the one who teased Giants?


Anyway, maybe Astroblast is the tease character. Maybe the next Skylanders game will involve exploring outer space, and alien Skylanders will be the gimmick. Or astronaut Skylanders will be the gimmick.

I was thinking a Skylanders 6 especially some of the characters are characters made by fans...

But it would be too conterversial.

They will definately NOT do this but wouldn't it be cool if they made Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure 2?

Either a remolded version of SSA
or a return to old area but with a different plot.
The Skylandrs teasing this^ game would be The New Eons Elite.

I do hope the next game will explore old areas. Although unlikely going to happen

My guess is a space gimmick hence Astroblast is the tease

They will need to make something that feels really new, the same way they've done it for SCC. In this sense, right now, I can think of a few possibilities:

- Team play: Up to four Skylanders on screen, you control one while the other three are AI. You can switch on the fly to any other member of the team at any moment. The same way X men legends games worked. Additionally other members of the team could be controlled by your online friends.

- Crossover with different franchises they could afford: I don't know, maybe, pokemons, sony characters (crash, medievil, etc), other amiibos, whatever they could think of. Make a multiverse like lego dimensions.

- Collectable weapons / armor / boosts: As it sounds, weapons and armor that add new powers and appearances to Skylanders.

- "Super Skylanders": All Skylanders can go into a "Super state" where their powers are boosted/changed. Sort of goku going super saiyan.

- Side kicks: Characters which accompany your skylander all the time, sort of sparx and spyro. These characters would have AI, however, you would be able to control them to some degree.

That's all I kind think of right now. I'll post more if I have any more ideas.

Now, that could still be Coincidence, although it is just a thought that came to mind.

As for the next games gimmick: Well, I'm not really sure. I'll be sure to come back and leave a prediction once I've beaten SSC and read enough of the story scrolls.

is a crazed collector (basically poking fun at die hard Skylanders collectors). She lists all her rare stuff until her Malefor Skystone, which she quickly remarks "Oops, spoiler alert!" This could POSSIBLY mean Malefor is somehow in Sky6 since they said all games are now fully connected chronologically. Then in the land racing pack, there's this creepy guy who doesn't appear anywhere in the game as an enemy called the Dragon Hunter. Malefor is a dragon. Both do not appear physically in
Superchargers' story mode. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

He could use the Adventure Animatronics so they are kid-friendly!

Also, I think Sky 6 should be a whole game with Skymiibos. You can also have classic skylanders like Dino Rang that can also be used as amiibo!

Considering he also mentioned he and Moneybone would have issues once they discovered each other's roles, it'd also make for some nice continuity. Moneybone was in here just to scam Kaos out of money most likely(he didn't even get punished despite the horrible conditions of the prision), imagine now that he has the funds lost in SF 3DS again.
Too bad poor Wallop can't join in unless the gimmicklander rule gets lifted. With the comics,they could also use Blades.

It's about Malefor took over skylands. So Spyro is back with the skylanders to save skylands

I think they should have two crossover characters per element. No new guys or reposes, just these. The Nintendo versions would have amiibo or Nintendo characters Xbox would have xbox crossovers and so on.

Might as well call the next game Crossover Toy Game Which Hapens to be Set in Skylands.

I'm hoping it's a space theme. Thats PROBABLY what it's gonna be. but you never know. It might be music themed

And the ever classic "They've run out of ideas!"

After this game showing me that even a genre I don't like that much can be made fun with the right narrative and polish, though, I'll take amazing gameplay no matter the gimmick(unless it's too expensive/required). Nowadays I'm just waiting for characters that I like to appear again - like the ones from the books and good old Malefor in the comics.

If they made a music themed gimmick. A portal with keys for a piano would so cool.

That would be an awesome idea, and it's actually teased by both DK and Bowser. I wonder how they would integrate the concept with the new figures, though?

Maybe the figures themselves could have some kind of slot into which you could fit some kind of "transformation key". There would be a variety of keys you could buy, and each of them would affect the super state of the new gimmicklanders in different ways.


Also, this would be the perfect gimmick for Kirby if he was made into a new Amiibolander, since he could transform into his different copy abilities as his super states. Or maybe Sonic would be the perfect fit, since he can transform into Super Sonic.

I hope we get two Light and Dark gimmicks with the other sixteen; also, a Pokémon Skymiibo (or Starfox or Kirby)

Only Eon knows how much I would love if they could make Light and Dark Giants, Swappers and Trap Masters (only 2 of them) since I hate seeing how the Elements are uneven now they are all on different planes of a single shelf... But the more time passed the more I think that's unlikely.

Speaking of potentially suspicious characters I'd say Astroblast fits the role: it is really space oriented and something this series has never seen (not even Star Strike looks that much alien/space themed).
Maybe the next game will take us on other worlds...?

Pokemon is waaay overprotective of their characters. They purposely make them have little to no bonuses on their amiibo in games outside of Smash, and they sued a guy recently for putting a Snivy or something on a poster for a non-profit party. The last thing they would do is let their precious pets be touched by outsiders like Activision.

Well Skylanders and Pokemon do share most of the same audience.

If the Pokemon Company barely lets their publisher do anything with the franchise, than I highly doubt they'll let anyone else near it either.

This....I mean the Pokemon amiibo don't even unlock color patterns in Yoshi's Wooly World ffs ( or pose figures in Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash ).

Besides, as much as I love Pokemon ( been a Pokemon Master since gen 1 ) I'd rather see Amiibolanders of Kirby, Chibi-Robo, Inkling ( preferably Inkling Girl ) and/or Fox McCloud....

I have loved pokemon for my entire life. And I mean my ENTIRE life. I thought pokemon would be the only good game series out there, until I got skylanders spyro's adventure. Can't stop playing the game since. If activision and gamefreak got along with the next game of skylanders. My life would be complete and I would be able to die peacefully knowing my two favorite things came together. And if you think about it, if pokemon were able to talk I'm pretty sure they would be able to be full fledged skylanders, but now we know that characters don't have to talk!! (Bowser, dk)

Personally, I'd most like a basic game that requires the use of at least 1-Giant, 1-Core, 1-Trap Master, 1-Supercharger & 1-Swap Force. Enough with the gimmicks.

Though, I can easily see Splat as a hint towards to next game, which involves an artistic aspect like Epic Mickey.

We've been teased with villains for far too long. The traps in Trap Team, the trophies in Superchargers. I just really want full playable figures of the villains already. If what you say is the case though, I can really only see the crossover thing working, as a music idea probably wouldn't work, a space idea is just an environment (unless it's a new Supercharger vehicle type), and I can't see much hints anywhere else. I hope it isn't a crossover though. ._.

Trust me, space wouldn't just be another place to visit, in my mind.
It would be more an excuse than anything.

Let's say there were certain Skylanders which got banished along The Darkness a lot of time ago and now came back, since the rift to his dimension has been opened.
But they aren't the same... They powers have been mutated by the mysterious energies of that dimension and now they are something more.

That would be the basic idea.
Dimensional powers?
Multiple dimensions?
The possibility to get all your old characters infused by those energies as well, thus modifying their gameplay a bit (NOT A REVAMP EXCUSE)...?
Who knows?

The Skylands face a new threat and Kaos has to team up with the Portal Master to thwart it. To do so, he summons his own team: new 'Kaos' element Skylanders. They aren't of a specific element per say, and can be upgraded with the game's gimmick to any of the other elements, with one that they are most proficient with.

Here is my idea. Each of the figures has a peg, and can connect to other skylanders. They are all mechanical, and combine to make more powerful skylanders.
