I heard from somewhere that there will be about 5 more games left of Skylanders. Similar to the Giants, SWAP Force, Trap Masters and SuperChargers, what would be the "gimmicklanders" of the final five games.

They've used up all the gimmicks I could think of,
I have seen some users talk about a gimmick where you'd put armour/weapons on your Skylander figures and it would appear in game I can't think of anything else other than making a mini Skylanders game, or Skylanders that shrink? Get bigger? Just a random idea, but I don't think I'd particularly like it, I'm wondering if Tfb is going to make up a new and unique gimmick next year, |

Yeah, they are going to keep coming. I'm pretty interested in seeing how the whole "gimmick a year" thing plays out. They've used the obvious ones, so now we will see just how creative TFB and VV can get.

If they scour the fandom board they'd find a thousand ideas for gimmicks, it's impossible to "run out of ideas" after just 5. Now, the problem would be making one that some fan or outsider wouldn't cry 'X did it first!111!!' about.

I would like if they could stop cranking out a gimmick every year and start innovating inside the game instead of outside it.
I really can't think of any mind-blowing mechanic they haven't already done (big characters, mix and match, storing items to play as villains, vehicles). Pretty sure they said exchangable weapons and armor won't happen because they could be swallowed by babies. Moreover it would take away a lot of character's uniqueness if all the characters could wield each other's weapon... Unless they create 3/4 unique weapons per character and you could choose between them. That would be cool and still keep the Skylanders unique. Mounts would sound redundant after vehicles and we already have Skylanders on top of creatures. I sincerely cannot think about any physical gimmick. Would love to see free flight and swim (without being restricted to vehicles) and an open world game like the LEGO hubs from where you can access all the levels/missions without a single loading time. Don't know if it can be considered a proper gimmick though.

Although this may be repetitive, I think they need to do a group of historical skylanders. Some prehistoric/dinosaurian skylanders some greek mythological ones and so on, would fantastic!

I would like to see ancient Skylanders.
For example the ones directly after the Giants. Forgotten warriors maybe directly tied to the Arkeyans. Imagine aztec, ancient arabic, indian, african, nordic themed characters. Head Rush still looks pretty modern. They could go the Invizimals route and create some mythologica/folkloristic creatures like the Quetzalcoatl, the Loch Ness monster, the chupacabra and so on. But I don't know if these can be considered as gimmicks just themes and ideas for the Skylanders themselves. Nothing innovative or "special".

Skylanders: Nexus Squad
Kaos has been captured by the SuperChargers and all was peaceful again. But they forgot one thing... Glumshanks. Surely he would work his hardest to get his master back. Now you can defeat Glumshanks with the Nexus Squad! Take a Nexus Squad skylander, and it will rain down a powerful nexus beam from you to them. With the microphone built into the new portal, you can say stop to stop time for 30 seconds and rain havoc on Glumshanks's minions! Kinda a crappy idea, but I really got nothing. |

How about figures that transform into other things? Like, you press down on a figure to like, turn it into a tank. I dunno, it could work.

Calling it now: it'll relate to Elements, since TFB experimented with Light/Dark.
I think it'd be a very underwhelming gimmick if it was just Element-focused (how much can that change the actual gameplay?), but maybe it'd let them focus on the game design and polishing stuff more.

Each Element now has special abilities tied to it (Air is flight, Water is swim, Earth is digging/destroying rocks, Fire is walking on lava...) and the game itself takes place in an open world map which can really make the new abilities shine. For example you could come across a destroyed bridge over a river: Tech Skylanders could simply ripair it but Air and Water ones could also easily swim/fly past it. A lava stream? Use a Fire Skylander to walk/swim or a Water one to solidify the fluid and turn it into stone. What Skylanders is lacking is the possibility to make your choices really matter. In SA this was there but was still a reduced concept. They need to expand it in my opinion. Give us multiple options to solve puzzles/environmental problems.

I like your idea.
![]() I actually expected the vehicles to lead to alternate routes. It's cool that the Air/Sea ones do something when you beat them, but I wish they bought you to alternate pathways instead...
