Does anyone see a card in the packaging? I can't really tell...

I messaged one of the sellers on eBay and he said that there is indeed a card and sticker with code.

But is it the same? Surely Golden Hot Streak would be written on the package if it was, and the color scheme seems different (well we all remember Power-Punch Pet-Vac, so...)

I think every collector is crossing their fingers and hoping for exactly that. I don't support what seems to be becoming a habit of Activision giving away exclusive, in-game variant pieces at events that only a comparative handful of fans are able or have the opportunity to attend. If you're going to have an event exclusive item? Put an event-exclusive tag/sticker/whatever on it, but release the same thing (in-game) to everyone else minus the tag/sticker/whatever.

COME ON. I already bought RSS for $35 from the money i saved from the clear thunderbolt variant. I'm the kind of collector that NEEDS every piece, except variants. This better be in stores, because i do not want to buy this for $100.

EDIT: AzureStarline may be on to something, the toy's front is black, in the game, it looks gold. But still, if this is somewhat a pixel different in the game, i will vomit.

I haven't seen or taken a look at those, but you might want to check the shipping. The other night when I was checking that thing out, there were a bunch of BIN's at $0.99 or $1, but the shipping charge was $90-100. That's something to keep an eye on, as a lot of unscrupulous sellers will put high end items up with super cheap BIN prices and then put crazy shipping on them that actually makes them more expensive than buying through higher priced auctions. I'm assuming that this keeps happening because buyers are afraid to back out for fear of a non paying bidder strike and thus eBay doesn't realize (or doesn't care, who knows) there's an issue.

Not sure if unlikely, it might just mean that all non-stat cards aren't coming back. Again,Adventure Pack and Magic Item cards don't do anything but have the official artwork, which the cars already have with their drivers, so if anything that might've been axed but they kept stat cards.

Even made a cover sheet for it(have posted it in another thread some time ago for members to use if they wanted, but just reposted it in a thread where someone was asking for high-rez images of the symbols to use for his kids display he is going to build.)

This is just great...now i'm going to have make cards...AGAIN!!! *grumbbles*...(not that i can't...its rather easy...but thats not the point)...i had to make Cards for my first set of Mini's from SSA....then for the Giants Mini's.

I doubt this will be an in-game variant. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for in-game variants, the packaging always has the name of the variant on it. This does not, and neither does the sticker. If this package did make it to stores (minus the E3 'sticker' on it), customers would not realize they are buying a variant.

So then, that brings up the question...what is Golden Hot Streak? Is it a modded Hot Streak? Doubtful. That would mean then there is Hot Streak, E3 Hot Streak, and in-game variant Golden Hot Streak? If there is a separate Golden Hot Streak, is it sold separately or does it come in a "Golden Edition Starter Pack"? That seems possible since they may not want to do a dark edition starter pack since Dark is now an element. Then again, with the characters split between the Nintendo and other consoles, maybe that would get confusing. As had been said, Wii U players may want to play as Spitfire/Hot Streak, so perhaps a good way to do this is to have a golden hot streak (golden spitfire?) sold separate or a buddy pack of sorts. That would appeal to the Wii U users and to variant collectors, so should sell well. Everyone will have stealth elf, so no need to create a variant for her.

If you don't have the Riot Shield Shredder variant villain trap, you're missing one. This trap was exclusive to E3 in the US and exclusive to preorders for Trap Team in the UK and EU (and possibly Australia?). While this isn't a figure, in the US it was a convention exclusive piece that was an in-game variant instead of just being physically, cosmetically different from a normal version of that figure. The E3 version tends to go for around $90-100, but the international preorder version of the same trap usually sells from somewhere between $20-30. I eBay'd an international version at $25 shipped to finally put that one to rest in my collection as I wasn't about to spend $100 for a single trap. Hope this helps you complete out your collection!

I wonder if retailers in Sweden got the stock to be able to offer the preorder promotion but ended up not doing so or if they ended up with a huge surplus past what they needed to fill those preorders. I know that Target in the US had the Outlaw Brawl & Chain on shelves for regular retail purchase, but they were all supposed to have been held back/allocated for preorder fulfillment. (shrug) We may never know for sure.

The Price is going down and I think it will go down until it is confirmed or not if there is an ingame change. IF it is confirmed in game change it will go up a lot I think.
I'm guilty of getting it off ebay too but I paid 25 with shipping. I already have it. But I think i'll just keep it boxed regardless because I think the default hot streak car looks better.

they still happen but you just seem to need to be there at the right time. I imagine if this exclusive car is not an in game variant, i doubt it'll be worth more then 20 dollars on ebay. If it is an in game variant then it'll probably spike up past 60.

I would be really surprised if the extended market value of this goes as low as $20, regardless if it's an in-game variant or not.

I scored a good deal on my Riot Shield Shredder (some like $43 in a lot with a legendary trapmaster (I forget which one) that I resold to a co-worker for $17 and an extra Kaos trap that I'd still like to unload for retail and that's just a plastic trap that had a much more abundant international release. This is a pretty sweet vehicle. I see it settling around a $50 price range (depending on what all events they unload them at - note, it says "event" exclusive, not E3 exclusive, same thing they did with RSS that was given away at E3, SDCC, GameStop Expo and a few other things.).

I'm really surprised at folks snatching these up for $25-$30. I need to start watching eBay. Maybe I can get one before I get the Yawn traps to add to my "Final" Trap Team photo I want to take.

I paid 48 for mine. Not going to complain though as that is much cheaper then the other 'rare' variants I've bought.

Do we know how many of these they made? Perhaps they are trying to put more on the market as a means of marketing, given the additional competition this year?

Also, I find the box size rather interesting. I was expecting it to be a bit wider, and deeper. The box height is actually shorter then a normal core figure box, about the same width as a giant figure box, and about as deep as a swapper figure box. (I don't have a TM box to compare to). This makes me think part of the motivation for the small size was to conserve shelf space.
TakeYourLemons Gold Sparx Gems: 2350
#98 Posted: 01:43:04 26/06/2015
^ Definitely marketing strategy. The size may have to do with the fact that they want to stuff as much product in as little space as possible, as wall sized proportions are probably HISS-TORY save for TRU but I suspect they will start squeezing that in considering there's still 3 games of product available.
