I really can't wait to play with my skylander boats and subs in the bathtub, they better work after. Has anyone else ever used their skylanders during baths?

Playing with Skylanders figures in bathtubs is a terrible idea. What if the water leaks through the slightest crevices between the elemental pedestals and the translucent color bases? The water would short out the microchips that hold the memories of the Skylanders' upgrades and level.

I dunked Gill Grunt in a pool and he was fine. I'd assume these vehicles will work as well, especially since their Chip isn't near the outside.

I just dunked Tree Rex and Wash Buckler in the water. Tree Rex actually took in some water in the figure but still worked fine. Wash Buckler on the other hand, had water seep in through the magnetic part and some got in the base. I thought for sure it was dead, but I tested it whole the water was in the base of the figure and it worked just fine. I'm currently trying to figure out how to dry the inside out.

In the Skykids Q&A video, Lou talks about how they built these as toys in addition to just being toys to life, how they wanted kids to be able to play with them outside of the game as well. That is the reason the land vehicles have actual wheels, and the reason the vehicles don't have bases. With that said, I do find it reasonable to think the water vehicles might be sealed in such a manner to make them water resistant, if not completely waterproof. There are also several Google results for people submerging current Skylanders, and they still work after. At the very least, you can definitely really throw the sky vehicles across the room. Realism.

If you put the figures around the top (not on top, that could potentially melt them!) of a heater, the water should evaporate out of there. I remember that because there was one forum member who was in a flood, and a lot of his Skylanders were ruined by water. When he set one Skylander on a shelf next to a heater, he played with it several hours later, and voila it worked!

My younger cousin soaked his second Tree Rex in water for a long time, then it wouldn't work for a bit since there was so much water inside it. Then once all the water poured out of the base, it started working again...

It would be a bad idea to play with a normal Skylanders figure in water, the seal between the base and the rest of it is not good enough to stop water from getting in, and I imagine the rfid tag is not sealed. That being said if you do get water in one make sure to put it in some rice overnight, rice is very good at drawing water out of things.

SkylandersBoyandGirl played with skylanders in the water YEARS ago and they survived just fine. I would definitely not recommend it though, but with comments from Activision that they say "they want you to play with the toys" it would seem totally appropriate to play with water vehicles...in the water--so I hope they've nailed it--because consumers are going to do it.

Their functionality is being articulated or having wheels. Never they said that their gimmick is being able to be thrown around with no ill effects or dumped into water with no issue. They're there just to be played with your imagination and a bit of mobility.

That you're wrong? Because if they made figures sturdy enough for that and somehow marketed them as such they'd cost an arm and a leg.

well they already marked them as toys for kid more than ever now... if it cost an arm and a leg the kid dont care, they just want to play. so if the toys is not sturdy enough they will have a problem. its false advertising and there is laws against that.

Wow, you're grasping at all the possible straws. Toys for kids are not required to withstand all the elements possible because kids will eventually do something silly. You're not going to sue a company because their cheap toy car rust after being left in the water for a week or because their toy plane smashed against the ground after being thrown off a building. Skylanders figures are no different - they shouldn't be super weak because they're toys and not for display, but they shouldn't be made of Nintendium to be accepted.

These aren't being advertised like they're meant to be used in the tub. When I was a kid, I had a mermaid Barbie figure that had a light-up tail. My cousin had the same toy, but it broke because she used it in the bathtub and it wasn't waterproof. Just because it looks like it should be used in the water, and is advertised to kids, doesn't mean it actually should.

Well, they're the silly ones in thinking toys should be invincible. And you're the one saying they're in the right.
Point is, toys are doing their purpose for being played with like toys, not how big the extent of said toy's abilities are. As Skylanders has always been about.
