I work at GameStop, and we received out Easter Skylanders in today. Much to my surprise, the Power Punch Pet-Vacs we received were not the red & yellow figurine I'd seen everywhere, but black & red (like the Full Blast Jet-Vac). Is this the way the actual figurine is? Or is this some weird paint variant?

Quite possibly some weird painting errors. Have you gotten pictures of the figures you speak of?

All three that we received had this paint job. But our display promotional materials have the yellow and red figurine.

The ones I received look the same. He looks like a mini Full Blast Jet-Vac.

I got mine at TRU last Thursday and that's how they're supposed to look. Every promotional photo I saw of the actual figures showed him as a miniature version of Full Blast Jet-Vac, so the internal promos you received must have been created prior to the figure being finalized.

Red and black, just like the figure. All of the leaked photos that showed up for these guys showed this specific figure in the color scheme that he shipped in, so I'm not sure why GameStop's promotional materials were off. (shrug) Guess that'll just make an odd "error" item that people will ultimately want to collect.

How weird. The leak of him in the 3DS version was red-and-yellow, and there's a set of videos someone here posted with him in that red-and-yellow costume as well. I even called a local Toys R Us, and the woman I spoke to even commented about the promotional materials having him in red-and-yellow.
Oh, well. I don't really like Jet-Vac, so the thought of buying FOUR of him in this game alone just grinds my gears!

Real simple answer....the marketing materials were done before they made the change in color and they didn't (or forgot) to reshoot the image.

I think Jet Vac looks really good in red and black. I ended up buying this mini.

Looking at this video,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMFMZp_g6oY he shows up yellow and red in game, seems this guy has been painted wrongly, everywhere else including images, posters, in gameplay and advertisements, even his card is his yellow and red version, this has to be a mistake, hopefully they'll make more with the yellow and red paint otherwise this is all messed up.

That's true, he does have more yellow in the game itself. He looks red and black at a glance, but his portrait shows the gold, and the black is just the shadowing. There's definitely some gold. I wouldn't have even thought about it if no one pointed it out.

They do it with a lot of variants. Dark Blast Zones helmet color scheme compared to his in game colors are wrong. Same with kickoff countdown. They don't pay attention to the source material sometimes.

Dark Wash Buckler's colors are completely incorrect if you compare it to artwork.

Yeah the finished products of a lot of things never match the art work.

I think there was a sale on black paint the month these were created.

Wow... Never noticed how different Dark Wash Buckler's in-game model looks, compared to his artwork, or even the figure.

The only difference I noticed with Kickoff Countdown is his clock being golden, instead of silver, like it should be.

Nothing wrong with Dark Blast Zone, from what I've seen.

Something funny I noticed this morning... If you look at the back of Power Punch Pet Vac's packaging, it shows the red and gold version, not the red and black one that was shipped.

I didn't notice it until I looked it up on dark spryo, I compared my 360 and 3ds games when i loaded power punch pet vac and on the 360 he is a super dark red like blood red with gold and on the 3ds he is a brighter red with the yellow I can understand a console difference in color a little bit but not that much and no I can't post photos to show I do this from my iPhone hopefully someone can replicate what I did

Power Punch Pet-Vac looks pretty normal in those colors.
