Has anyone heard if they gave out a special holiday Skylander to the employees last month? I'm thinking there wasn't any or we would have seen one on eBay by now.

There are no signs of a 2014 Holiday Edition Skylander.

I know it's not a playable figure, but I think the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Eruptor was distributed to the employees.

It may well have been the alternative this year but the Macy's fig went to more than just employees.

I suspect that Activision will eventually drop the Employee Exclusive figures, due to the fact that most employees are just selling them off for cash.

If I recall correctly, Gold Fire Kraken was first revealed at the end of November 2013, and given to employees at the beginning of December. Snowderdash was revealed mid-December and distributed during the first week of January 2014.

So far it seems there won't be any Employee figure for Trap Team.

I don't know...it sounds like an amazing holiday bonus. Rather than a company paying their employees for a holiday bonus, they pay maybe like $2-4 for the production of a special employee figure that fetches hundreds on the resale market. It's a win-win for employer and employee and it's trinkets like these which are supposed to foster a good working relationship with your employer.

But you can look at any Employee Exclusive character, and on the bottom of their box, it specifically says "Not for Resale."

It's a gift that's meant to be kept, not sold off for even more cash.

I've even been told that employees are specifically asked not to sell them.

Activision has gone as far as taking some quctions for them down, specifically the ones that have images of the "Not for Resale" label on the bottom.

The "Not for Resale" tag is meant to show that it's not meant for retail.

So it's a gift with certain conditions and restrictions? Then it's not a gift at all if they're being told what to do with it. I understand a "not for resale" disclaimer, but I would expect that the actual company would take it with a grain of salt and just look the other way if it were to ever make it to a resale site like EBay. I think moreso they meant it not be sold at a retail location. If that were the case that they are actively restricting resale of this gift, then other than those given out at the special event, nobody else in the US is allowed to have a shot at playing with Riot Shield Shredder since it was marked "not for resale."

There are "not for sale" signs on the Starter Pack stuff, but they still get sold loose on eBay with no repercussions.
And speaking of such, Snowderdash is even getting raffled in Games Done Quick for the Spyro the Dragon speedrun in a few days. If that was against Activision's policy I don't see how this would even reach the schedule for the event.

Metallic fright rider? Did I miss something? I know there is a black/orange Halloween fright rider as well as a GITD...

The orange paint on the Halloween Fright Rider has a metallic sheen to it, so that's what UncleBob was referring to.

^ ahh ok, that makes sense! Thank you! Btw, it does seem the variants ARE kinda light this year.. Both chase and in-game.. No holiday employee edition, no glow in the dark or enchanted from Walmart, no frito lay "exclusive" variant to give away and no (so far) variants of traps (like in physical apperance)! I guess that's all good with most players and collectors, but it just seems a little odd to me.. Oh and even the E3 giveaway was just a trap that became available to gamestop managers and friends !?!

To clarify, the Legendary traps are variant in appearance, though, aren't they?

All my gamestops around me got 2 Riot traps in store in November.
One even gave them to me for free since it had no barcode on them. Instead it says "not for resale"

That's the way it should be - at least some token appreciation of good customers. That is how I got my Gearshift as it was the giveaway at Aussie EB Games expo and the manager of my local store got one and she gave it to me.
