Definitely fake. The base is green, indicating that it's an SSA character. If the base was a new color for skylanders 4, the picture would be more believeable.

Prototype colours don't have to match the final base colours do they.

It could be just a standard SSA base re-used to put the chip in with a prototype figure on it.
The artwork looks realistic enough, I say possible, but unlikely.

It's a picture you find in google if you type in next skylanders game or something like that. I've been seeing it here and there since Giants. Defiantly fake. Probably from the Skylanders Fanon Wiki. Not gonna lie there's some weird jacked up stuff there.

Some prototype don't have a base on them...and if you look close you can see the base is painted. The eyes and the nose of the skull are airbrushed on, and its GITD plastic...not painted white. Looks cool, but i'd say fan made like ZapNorris said.
Also if you look at the base skull eye sockets...there to flat(hold any of you green base next to it)and the upper jaw is to wide. The whole figure, base and all is made of sculpey(clay). I like the artwork better then the figure. But still looks cool props to the fan that did them.

I think I saw this pic way back when the first Skylanders was out. A fan made it.

Here's why it isn't from the new game.

1: Starting with Giants, the character art has added effects like swirls around the characters.
2: The background was like that on the first Skylanders, but with Giants and Swap Force, the background portal action is more subtle.

It's definitely fake.
