How do people feel about this?

I think it stays true to the early games, as only official artwork had yellow spines. In the games they came later on I think, in A Hero's Tail or Fusion. It would still have been nice to see them.

I don't think I mind either way as I'm really happy with the design overall.

Don't mind it. The fact the belly plates go all the way to his chin means there's already enough yellow on him.

I thought something was off. Then again, Spyro's spines are the least of the changes.

I like him with either spines. All that matters to me is that his face is the same as the original and not like Skyro’s (not that I dislike Skyro’s design mind you).

I honestly didn't even notice until I took a good look at the screenshots. I don't mind, though I agree it would have been nice to see them. His design is still just about perfect to me though.

I can say this much:

there's some people hoping that the purple spikes are a first-game-only thing, since the 2nd and 3rd games' cover art has him with yellow spikes.

I'm honestly not too bothered about him having spikes or not, I think the purple spikes are fine, they don't really look spikey though, they look more like bumps on his back, which I think, makes him look cuter.

I find it interesting that on the covers of Spyro 2, 3 and 4, he has spikes but in-game he doesn't, and it wasn't until A Hero's Tail that he got them.

IDK, I'm not too concerned about it.

^ Yeah I mean the purple spikes just look like the purple bumps he always had down his back in-game in the original trilogy to me. I honestly never noticed he had yellow spines on the Ripto's Rage cover and certain Year of the Dragon adverts omg, I thought the spines started appearing during a Hero's Tail because apparently I never looked at the covers closely?

He actually had those little purple bumps in his Japanese artwork.

I definitely prefer the purple bumps. The yellow spikes seemed a little cluttered to me? Like there was too much going on for such a small space

I actually like the purple bumps more, too. idk, i'm more used to seeing them as bumps because of the gameplay. and, to me, he is just so much more huggable without the spines...! XD

he always had purple back spines/scutes in his actual in-game model, so it just feels right to me here!

If you look on the covers of Spyro 2 and 3, he has yellow spines on his back, in-game he doesn't have any bumps, or spines on his back, just scales. The games where he has yellow spines is from A Hero's Tail onwards.
