Ok, this is’t new at all, but I want to share this both because it’s really exciting me and also to return the discussion to something which isn’t questionable fan wars.

I was looking back at High Caves, which is currently my least favorite redesign after Beast Makers’ World, and suddendly something amazing happened: the more I looked into it, the more I liked what I was seeing.
I know the general picture isn’t that faithful to the source material, but try taking a closer look:



The previously flat golden textures now popping up as metallic decorations, the reddish gems nestled along the walls, the purple roofs and even the grass color.
I mean, it’s not the closest it could get to the original version (to the point I think we are looking at unfinished or dated material) but the attention to details is really mind-boggling to me.

Ironically it was the opposite with Crash, where I had a general extremely positive impression which started weakening the more I looked at the screenshots.

I like the TfB version much more.
This pink fog of the original is really disturbing imo.

Yeah, I prefer TFB's version, it looks a lot more clearer, and the details are a lot better, the original design of the level is still there.

I miss it as well.
That, along with a slightly more colorful skybox and more defined mountains (both in shape and color) are the only changes I would like.
Everything else could stay exactly the same and I wouldn’t bat an eye.

And just to make it extra clear, I’m glad they kept the details I mentioned before but I wouldn’t have complained if they didn’t: they don’t impact the general aesthetic nearly as much as the sky or mountains.

Regarding the sunlight coming from the cloud I find it a bit odd as well: if I had to take a wild guess I’d say the beam is supposed to hit the balcony after the two moving platforms, so that when you reach it it’s even more scenic, but it’s still weird in terms of position.
Maybe they have yet to add a sun?

I think the pink skybox can still work if the bottomless pit is covered in mist. The sky itself on the original is more indigo, anyway.

The thing I notice the most (and would still notice without having the old version to make a direct comparison) is how the colors make the level look “heavier”.
The marmoreal mountains and bright pink misty abyss really helped making High Caves feel “lighter” and more whimsical.
That’s something I fear might affect all Magic Crafters’ levels, from what I could see.

But it might just be the lighting, after all.

Not expecting full day/night cycles, as they might ruin certain levels’ atmospheres entirely, but this might explain why some screenshots look odd.
Moving clouds, planets, stars, moons and other dynamic effects could easily impact the overall look depending on where they are at the moment, and I would be all for it!
They could even help visualizing certain specific weather conditions, such as wind, without the need to constantly have it blowing on-screen.

Yeah, someone did say it's fan made. I think it was Bryman, but probably since that's Official Spyro Discord stuff, it might be risky to start talking about things that shouldn't be shared.

^ there's an official Spyro discord, apparently the connect URL is just Spyro but I'm hardly a Discord expert. It doesn't seem like it's just part of the subreddit, since it's an official partner.

I can barely wait to fully explore these locations with such glorious graphics, Stone Hill has always been a pleasure to navigate with its multiple layers, which is why I’m super excited for Cliff Town and Misty Bog as well.

It's really good to know that Spyro's in safe hands, finally, after all these years. I think it's safe to say that Vicarious Visions is the new Naughty Dog for Crash, and Toys for Bob is the new Insomniac for Goonro.

Seriously, he looks tremendous here.

Can’t see much of Peace Keepers’ World from this image, but I’m still liking what I’m seeing, especially the shape of the cannon; simply spot on.
The various added details are a really nice touch and yes, I too thought the hat was supposed to be of a different color (liking the look of the Gnorc itself as well).

The cannon operating Gnorcs were always blue, but the other ones were red I started off being a bit 'meh' about the whole remaster and now I could not be more excited, I love it and it looks beautiful! <3 I need more screenshots
