I remember when Skylanders was a thing and TLOS happened, a return to the classics was the last thing I expected. Its like we have done a full cycle.....

The only thing I'm slightly upset by is a personal thing since my birthday is early September, so if it was released a couple of weeks earlier I could have had it as a birthday gift, but eh I'm just happy it's a thing. <3

Also I am really glad they actually went back to the classic Spyro with this (with AHT inspiration???). I was worried they would have used Skylanders Spyro for promotion purposes for the younger gen. >.>

It appears that it's again not going to be for Nintendo consoles.

I'll find a way somehow that doesn't involve buying an entirely new console.

It's very likely going to be. Nintendo UK listed a Switch port on it's store, but it was quickly removed. A Switch version is likely going to be announced either during the next Nintendo Direct OR at E3., although I'd assume the former.

Looks really cool and really menacing, from what I can tell!

TFB's Playstation Blog interview is implying that the game will have autosave and some sort of fast travel option. Possibly, unless they're just giving examples.

Gnasty looks so much better as his AHT design.

^ I agree. I look forward to seeing what the characters from 2 and 3 look like, especially the playable ones, Bianca, Hunter and Elora.

I honestly wonder how they're handling 2 and 3 since they're quite different to the first, including the atmosphere. :\

I wonder how they're going to handle the more humanoid characters, especially Agent Zero.

On the one hand I think it'd be good to hide some easter eggs in there, maybe a single pool that isn't hazardous that has a cheat code or something written on the floor (but it's not obvious because it looks like all the other hazardous pools). On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing how TfB do their toxic goop, and I'm not talking about how people react to my mean comments OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

If they were to add skill points to this game, that could be one of them.

Speaking of that, look at this picture of Toasty:



It might be a bit hard to tell, but judging by the big bubbles and the smoke streams coming out of the ground it seems like TfB interpreted the orange liquid as lava instead of a simple sea at sunset.
It’s not wrong by any mean unless Insomniac says otherwise, but quite unexpected.

So far I love what they did to water, seeing how they kept the bright blue color for Artisans’ waterfalls but apparently made it murkier for Beast Makers levels, and I personally don’t think you’ll be able to swim regularly in the first game since Moneybags is the one who teaches the ability to Spyro.
Would be nice to come back after having acquired it and reach secret areas or easter eggs like Johnbonne suggested, but I doubt they’d go that far.

God I LOVE how you can actually see the land in the distance!

Yeah, backgrounds (not necessarily just skyboxes, even if I know they are technically the same thing in this case) were one of the aspects I was a bit worried about, but TfB outdone themselves.

In the announcement trailer, when the video changes from 1998 Toasty to its 2018 incarnation, you can see how the previously flat portion of land behind the shepherd and the dogs was turned into a fully 3D model in the exact same spot.
Attention to details, guys.

I just realized something! This game’s art style reminds me a lot of Yooka Laylee, which I really enjoyed despite the mixed gameplay elements themselves

So, in RR there were fish in the lake in Summer Forest. But in YotD, there were none to be found in ANY of the pools/lakes/springs.


I'm hoping that they add fish in all the bodies of water across both the games.

More thoughts about the game:

• Somehow, I forgot Spyro can carry objects in his mouth. I can't wait to see how he looks with chubby cheeks in the remakes of 2 and 3.
  
• Anyone else expecting trailers for each of the playable characters from YotD? They did ones for Coco and Polar from NST and they kinda remind me of the Meet the Skylanders trailers.
  
• I agree with parisruelz, they should include fish in YotD's bodies of water. I never realised until it was pointed out.
  
• Because the levels look a lot more detailed, I couldn't even recognise what some of them were in the trailer. Looking at them makes me almost feel like I'll be playing a whole new game and I hope that'll be the case given the number of times I've replayed the trilogy since childhood.

It’s not bad but it’s sound a bit too generic.
Hope they’ll still have the original track somwehere, at least.

This is a very trailer song though, it even follows the beat moment on the footage.
