As a member said on this topic, I keep reading this topic but I don't post or log in like a lot of other members here do, I think.
I'm naive but I'm still waiting a good news about a possible new Skylanders game.


I complete my collection of rares figures step by step during this time.
I received this from Australia yesterday.

It cost me $75, it's expansive but I haven't money to spend in a new Skylanders game and new Skylanders figures, so...
I just need to own a Light Yawn Trap to have a complete traps box ( I don't care about exclusive vilains and I don't want to have all the forms of each Trap Element).
Maybe, I said maybe someday I will find a Light Yawn Trap at a "reasonnable" price.
I still remember the time I decided to not buy the three Yawn Traps for a total cost of €60 because I prefered wait Activision made it for my country... Sad but true.

Because of this new Trap, I started to play with my Wii U version of Trap Team and I certainly will finish it. I used to play at Treap Team on my Wii. And because of this my boy decided to restart to play Skylanders games.

Wow, absent midendly looking at Instagram paid off, someone found a rare Skylanders cosplayer doing Splat. That person has more willpower than I'll ever do because I've long given up on redoing my Hex cosplay.

Bad JuJu is just like "whyyyyyyy"

But really, this is a good artist, I still have to read those comics, but I'm so lazy when it comes to read anything.

Spyro is kinda weird but everyone else looks fine. I've been missing the classic Stealth Elf's design after Academy.

I'm still waiting for Trap Crystals to hit the 5 Below or Dollar Tree. Missed a ton of them and many are rare to get now.

As much as I like the break for my wallet, I really hope they release a new console game this year. Skylanders still has a lot of potential if they use it right.

I need a new adventure for my imaginators.

Though i've said it in the board a few times that my preference is for the series to actually end.
But in either of the two ways.
A collection of previous adventures.... updated to current expectations.
or try and go a Disney Infinity route and let people create levels, stories and adventures that we can download.
The problem with something like Disney Infinity for me was you could never really find any well done adventures for the game.
They never let me put the characters I purchased as a toy as characters for my own levels that players would need to ally themselves with or battle. IF Skylanders did that it'd be a huge hit with me then you could create all sorts of bad guys with your imaginators too.

If we could make our own full-length (or, say, 5-7 levels long at least) Skylanders adventures, using our Imaginators as NPCs or even bosses, that'd be awesome. Kind of like fanfics made into actual games.

I've never wrote a fanfic, but I had an idea for one a while back, and I made a few Imaginators based on it. Having that be made into an actual game would be great.

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet but, it appears as if Eric Hirshberg is leaving Activision. I'm really curious what this means for the Skylanders Franchise.

There's only two in my city, one on each side of town. Luckily neither of them were on that list, but if one of them were to close, it'd make it a lot harder for me to shop for anything gaming related. There's one about five minutes away from where I live, and it's pretty much my go-to spot for Skylanders and other gaming stuff since they have good service there.

Mine isn't on the list but like Sears and K-Mart it's more of a matter of when and not if. A lot of times they close up when the lease on the building is due more than for any other reason. You may see several rounds of closings going on for years.

Was looking at TFB's website and a new job opening was put up this time it's for an enemy designer. There's two things that stood out in that job opening.


"Polish enemies for an unannounced title"

To me that basically rules out star control being their next game (not to mention a month or two ago they confirmed star control had nothing to do with their buisness roles at TFB )


The next thing that stood out was this


"Experience developing and shipping AAA console games"


That alone confirms that their unannounced title is indeed a console game.


And before anyone says that it's a Spyro remaster, it's not.
Under Engineering internship it gives us more info on the title's console compatibility

"Deploy and test software on PC and 360/PS3/Xbox One/PS4 console platforms"

You may not outright say it but your obvious implied insistency that anything like this is about a new Skylanders game is grating.


If they abandoned toys, it would be much more reasonable to release it on PC. I mean, the public there is mostly hardcore gamers, but kids stuff still sells, as long as there's no accessories. The PC market is mostly digital, so you know.

And, as you said, they might just bring VV or Beenox to port it to the Switch, so I wouldn't be too worried. No way they would forget Nintendo for Skylanders, it's where their main income is, and, with the Labo thing, the young public will probably just keep growing.

More stuff from their website. Was pointed out by PM9351 TFB's unannounced title will be in fact on Nintendo platforms they are hiring for game testers so this game should be very far in development or at least a good way through here's what they said

Is anyone else starting to miss the series?

At first, I wasn't too sad and I liked the power I had to by other things, but now I'm starting to miss all the fun I had, hunting for figures and looking for news.

I don't. If it returns, it will likely be SF or TT all over again, where (in SF's case) I got bored, tired, and broke because of trying to hunt figures, or (in TT's case) I mostly ignore the game and only play it or buy figures when I've nothing better to do.

Unless they switch things up. Less figures, more uniqueness in each figure, or anything to make it all feel less boring and more exciting. Like getting a new videogame. Or anything for that matter, there eventually comes a time when all the past experiences will become repetitive, and something will need to be done to make it interesting again.

Burnout? Yeah, that's not something a one year break and then a return to Imaginators standards will fix. One year and something more will need to be done to ensure it's not so grindy IMO. Or two years, but honestly, I've been feeling the "burnout" since TT. It only kept getting more and more normalized, less unique.

If it was just a standalone game, no figures(maybe just magic items and adventure packs), just a 'have fun with your huge collection' deal with enough content, I think it'd be a good way to prevent burnout. But this is Acti, currently running Destiny 2 to the ground. Smart things don't happen to their big name franchises frequently, other than the marketing(sometimes even that).
