i had trouble with golden queen at first, but i settled for Ground/Bug

GQ is pretty hard also. I'd say, maybe... Ground/Bug is quite accurate. But her "golden" gimmick is quite important I think, though I can't think of a type that could represent that.

...Ground. Steel is about weaponry and defense, even if they use whatever metal for that type.

Try on Gulper for size. He can't be pure water(no attacking water moves, his slime is movement), and his trident isn't enough to justify another type, nor is he smart enough to be underhanded and Dark.

Water/Ground? He looks kinda like a "swamp thing", which I think would make him fit in as Water/Ground.

Poison Water?

He isn't poisonous(in fact, ****ty soda weakens him), nor he uses mud.

But he's kinda slimy, which is how I'd imagine a swamp thing.

Or we could just say "**** it" and go Normal, but a blue Jabba the Hutt with a trident is hardly normal.

Actually, Water/Normal could work? GF's logic is mind boggling as always, but Heliolisk does seem to have a Normal typing because he doesn't manifest his power directly.

Possibly, but I think Water/Ground would work better, because slime. So I guess it's down to either Ground or Normal as a second type. Either could work, really.

Or Fairy? Come to think of it, Fairy could also work. Fairy doesn't seem to necessarily mean they have to look cute or harmless, just something that looks a little... different, magical, than other Pokemon. Kinda like a halfway between Normal and Dragon.

So, either Ground, Normal, or Fairy could work.
