The proto toys are on TFB. Someone's gonna get them like the 3D printer prototypes from VV already on ebay, but a worldwide release is something else entirely.

CMB's statement is bull even if they never release them. It's data that's not doing anything on the game. If they want to burn bridges, why bother paying the 20k license(?) to REMOVE things in a patch?

Again, they have ALWAYS released each unique character one way or another. The final Senseis are already in Walmart and Amazon's systems, and Toys R Us will more than likely have them. Nothing at all is pointing to these characters not being released. Wave 3 only just finished up so give it another one to three months before we hear any more about wave 4.

In another two to three months Skylanders will be forgotten by all but us diehard fans. Why would a retailer want to stock them?

I think they will be released, in very limited numbers and some of us will end up needing to pay 3 to 4 times their retail value if we want to get them. If stock is super low in most stores now there's no reason for Activision to delay releasing them.

Wave 4 is usually released in Feb-March, so we have to wait at least another month untill we know anything else.

It's also not confirmed that the series is canceled. Despite evidence, it's still not official or confirmed in any way, and it likely won't be announced until late May/June, when the next game is typically announced. This gives them time to release waves 4 and 5 as usual. If they left them unreleased without any word beforehand, it would give Activision extremely bad press because they would have let five unique characters go unreleased. Releasing them is common sense. Stores have already begun ordering these figures as I mentioned before, so we have nothing to worry about right now.

I think we need to clear one thing up. There is no 'bad press' concerns for Activision. Skylanders is no longer a huge title. Shops are getting out of them. We would jump up and down if they don't release figures but I can't see any media of importance even batting an eyelid at it. And I'm sure Activision only care about dollars and don't sweat criticism too much.

My gut feel is they will release a limited number only because they've already been made. Many stores won't stock them and some markets might not get them at all. The longer it takes to release them the harder they'll be to get. And if large chain stores in some markets are no longer stocking Skylanders at all, the longer they wait to release the greater the risk that other retailers will likewise decide not to stock them making them even more rare.

I think people misunderstood my quote...

I said that Liam said that there's a patch in the works. I theorized that the patch might have something to do with the remaining characters. I didn't said at all that the patch will delete those characters. Just said that it might have something to do with them.

Could be also just a general bug fix and optimization patch. Unless they had the time to finish scrapped features like the customization in Superchargers, it doesn't have to be something big.

Maybe the last sensei's will be made playable with out the need of a toy?

Trap Team mobile did do that, but considering it's a forgettable version they just got away with that patch rather than being the whole team's choice.

That's what I think is possible. Maybe the producers know the stock will be low.

There's no way they'd go through all that work to REMOVE data for characters that have already been made and entered into numerous stores' systems for distribution. That would make them have to recall all the printed figures from the warehouse, meaning a huge loss of money for all companies involved. Despite the cancellation rumors, all evidence we've gotten so far points to these figures being released, as usual. Plus, the removal of five senseis from the game would create a huge imbalance for some of the level goals. You wouldn't be able to 3-star all of the levels without those senseis' soul gems.

So... just saw a tweet with a post by somebody on 4chan indicating that Imaginators was set to be shown at the Switch reveal event. If so, I'm a little leery of pulling the plug just yet. Seriously doubt they'd go to that effort for the new system for a game they'be decided to pull the plug on. Have to wait and see after the event tonight, but will be interesting to see if it's there.

Imaginators on the Switch wouldn't hold any significant meaning. The Switch has been in development for over 2 years, and development kits for it have been out for quite some time now. A Switch version of the game would just be a port of the Wii U version, with maybe some uprezzed graphics. Ports take very little time or effort, and since Nintendo already stopped manufacturing and shipping the Wii U, it would simply be a means of allowing more players to potentially experience Imaginators on the new system, and a way of selling through existing atocks of figures. A couple thousand more copies of the game sold will not change any decision that has already been made (if one has been made). And yes, it would only be a couple thousand. We roughly know how poorly Imaginators has sold across the board, and there will only be maybe a million Switch available at launch, so if Activision releases Imaginators for it, they only have to run maybe 5k-10k copies. It would not be that big a deal, and it would hold no meaning for the franchise at large.

I agree with you. But the port might give a bigger chance for the remaining figures to get released. At least for me.

With Activision, it simply isn't safe to assume anything. I agree, I think they will get released, but I am not discounting the idea that they won't. Activision has proven, twice, that they don't mind dropping releases, or doing releases in only small territories of the world. Yes, the argument is that they haven't done that with anything "necessary," but I doubt that means much. Both the yawn traps and Thrillipede are things that are in the games, things that have collection slots allocated to them, and we know that Activision didn't give a crap about the people that wanted them. Plus, if this is the end of the series, for now or forever, they wouldn't care about leaving a bad taste, since who cares. Activision is already one of the most despised game companies, they have nothing to lose by screwing us. I am think it is either going to be Toys R Us or Amazon that gets the bulk of the stock, and we are only going to see them for a few weeks or so. I would, for the record, very much like to be wrong.

A "rumors are false" doesn't make this any better, Mattemax. Nothing has disproved them entirely yet, as Imaginators is getting a port, but not a whisper of Sky 7.

I agree on this, although I am more optimistic what we will get Skylanders 7 based on the Wild Storm and Grave Clobber announcement, and if we do, I'm thinking Sky 7 could be the last.

It's odd an business choice to announce a release day port, have it get some attention, talk about a few character, then also plan to not have a new game.

They can always say 'but season 2 of Academy!'

Though even if Sky 7 happens eventually, I'm not feeling like they'll try for next year still. Acti already found out people don't really have money to buy several collections a year, so Switch Imaginators would kinda compete.

You know, this whole mess could have been avoided if there was some type of communication regarding this stuff. For example, Lego Dimensions has the wave list somewhere and Lightseekers, despite not being out yet, has a whole forum dedicated to talking with developers (I might be misinformed here? To be honest, I wouldn't mind waiting a year for Skylanders 7, and just going through the rest of this year with just Imaginators. They could add more parts over time and maybe make even more levels and that would do me just fine.

So, in closure, my proposed idea is another year of Imaginators with new updates every once in a while, and then we get Sky 7 in 2018 (with Spyro Guest Stars for the 20th).

And maybe we could hopefully get a Spyro remake trilogy in 2019, just like it happened with Crash.
I mean... Activision owns him a lot, even more than the orange marsupial.

Yup for the latter. We talk regularly with PR and the only reason they don't show more is spoilers or they simply have yet to develop parts of the lineup. Forum's still getting built though, not much discussion since it doesn't have a lot of users.
