Oh, no, 180k is underwhelming but not horrible. Alarms off. That tweet made it sound like it was 66k worldwide, but US is where the marketing is focused, it's obviously not going to do well on Europe.

AAA is big games industry. Big names, Acti, EA, Ubisoft, which also means big budget for most AAA games.

Well, this is nerve-settling.
At least, for me.

If Skylanders was cancelled, a part of me will wither away as well. I was super depressed back in 2012; my family could hardly stay in a house for even a few months, we were constantly on the run, I was the kid everyone bullied in school, etc. But when I got into Skylanders that year, it became my motivation. It was the one thing that was with me the whole way through that time of my life. Skylanders gave me something to look forward to each month. I knew I could push forward knowing that a new, awesome wave of characters would be waiting at the end, and slowly powering up those characters around all sorts of weird levels was my #1 escape from real life (and still is!). Point is, Skylanders has shaped me over the past 4 years. So if Skylanders dies out someday, I'll become a totally different person. Sure I've got amiibo and a ton of other games, but Skylanders has always been that one special series to me.
BUT...
My feelings aside, I don't actually think that this will be the end. It always sells rather slow until Christmas. Around my area, I hardly see anybody even glancing at Skylanders anymore, but from Christmas onwards, the stores are packed. From soccer moms to creepy-looking scalpers always hoarding wave 4, I still see a ton of customers after Christmas. It'll die someday, but not today. Superchargers didn't sell well and they pressed onward; they'll definitely do the same here.

Again, last page's scare was because the guy said Europe sales with no context that they were on just that part of the world on the tweet. 180k isn't good, but it's passable, if I recall. Real deal is after the sales.

I guess we should calm down. Yup, good...

Last year when I kept going to all the Gamestops around town on Dec. 5th, they kept telling me these two scalpers kept beating me there and buying out all their Nightfalls. When I heard this I was, of course, annoyed that I'd have to drive across town just to get Nightfall, but I was also somewhat relieved because it shows that these figures are still in demand, and will be for a while. So, uh... thanks, scalpers.

Yeah, I expect all characters to be released and also get Sky 7 then if 180K is passable. Thank God. And the 180K will totally rise as the next few months roll by too. Black Friday is coming as well.

Yeah, but there's still the issue of zero merch :I I was looking foward to Golden Queen and Bad Juju themed stuff(latter is unlikely,but GQ is a starter so she's guaranteed), not to mention the Guides' personality trivia. Skylanders Universe Magazine might be the only means left for now.

That would be cool - But at the same time would also be a major cop-out in my mind to have this franchise that builds itself upon being Toys To Life suddenly release games that don't utilize them whatsoever. Especially if there are no main series titles alongside them - Then people would REALLY be upset about older characters being obsolete.

Plus, if the characters were built in and locked to every single game, they wouldn't feel like MY uniquely leveled/upgraded Spyro, Pop Fizz, or Stealth Elf; they would just feel like Spyro, Pop Fizz, and Stealth Elf. The game's charm comes from how each person's Skylanders can be unique depending on how you upgrade it and improve its stats, similar to Pokemon.

All right, so since I'm assuming the whole poor sales scare is over now, let's change the subject to something lighter.

I decided when I get the remaining two Adventure Packs, I'm gonna play as Crash in Elf Forest and Boom Bloom in Wumpa Islands.

I'm looking forward to Boom Bloom and Enchanted Elven Forest. Boom Bloom looks and sounds awesome

the sells were not very good on first mounth but luckly skylanders wasent the only one. and besdes in the first mounth it never sell well and there is still the big sells where ot usuly make good sells, so lets close this topic by saying that there is still hope for the series.

EB Games, Target and Big W. All over Australia.

Meanwhile Australian Shelves still have Wave 1 but not a lot (Probably next to nothing compared to U.S Stores). Jingle Bells Chompy Mage flew off the shelves, target got about 15 each now most Target's have hardly any left. So might kick in around Christmas.

Sure it is not a strong opening, but Skylanders is mainly a toy for kids, hence most of sales will take place in christmas. It's no time for apocalyptic feelings, at least, not yet.

The true battle is yet to come. If any, that's the one which will decide the fate of the franchise.

I think everyone is overreacting to this. Yes, this is upsetting news, but it was never officially said Skylanders is dead. Remember that the Netflix Series is getting a second season next year? You think they would release a second season of Skylanders Academy without a game to go with it? Let's not jump to conclusions just yet.

^it is, however, it only refers to a week to week growth, which is less representative than, let's say a month or a trimester. Plus the UK may be a good indicator of the European performance, but still, only a part of it (despite brexit). Other big countries like Spain, Italy, France and Germany have also their word.

That said, it's still good news imo, and sheds some light (and doubts) over this sudden dark scenario.

I just come here and see that Wave 4 and Skylanders overall might be cancelled.

there is still hope becuse of several reasons:
1. its not only skylanders that didnt sell well its most of activision games.
2. in england the sells for the first mounth were fantastic.
3. its only the first mounth, they are still the entire year to change that and there are the big sells like black friday and christmes which they usuly have good sells there.

only time will tell but i still belive that this series can be saved and reach to sky7 (knock on wood) .

Yeah, I'm sure we'll get at least Sky 7 and I hope even more.

There's also that article saying Imaginators was given the title of "must-have" gift for Christmas or something. It's no where near over, this fall has just been rough for a lot of games. Christmas always comes through for them in the end.

I know it was a false alarm, but you know that, if they cancel the future games, they can cancel the show at any time they want, right?

Actually, the show is fine for AT LEAST another season, because that's well into production and it'd be more money wasted to cancel. However, Eric doesn't sound too optmistic about the poor marketing(both Netflix and the Skylanders social media forgot it exists), so it has to be good from both sides.

Honestly if this was the last Skylanders Game it would be give me so much mercy on my wallet. However with Skylanders Academy on Netflix I really don't see this being the last game. Sky 7 perhaps could be.

Sooo... Finally finished story mode. I'll keep my thoughts on spoiler topic, but on a non-news topic, are Sea races really that much of a strain on the hands on WiiU? Played one race and felt like my wrists were about to snap.

Yaaay I can finally visit this thread.

I'll do a better review later, but: Writing; good when they did their own thing, horrible when they tried to be Academy. Story; too much show too little tell, and the non-ending was too lazy. Gameplay, niice, I think they finally hit the spot. Content, I'll wait to get Bad Juju to see.

High points:
-Narration on the amusement park
-Doomlander designs are all pretty nice
-Shellmont Shores is the best
-Everything about Fizzland, including Pop Fizz respawning because he went out of bounds

Also we waited 5 years for a good castle final boss and TFB flips Blackthrone mk2 for a generic arena again, that was just mean

I noticed a lot of people got confused by the writing at launch, this game makes a LOT more sense after watching Academy.
And it's pretty sad, TFB trying to write like Academy does not work. The games are enriched by lore, removing them because funny is stupid. Running gags aren't forced(ESPECIALLY at the expense of characters like Eruptor who's amazing in Academy what the hell), they should show up naturally. Pointing out mistakes doesn't make them okay. Unfortunately, this game's easiest the worst story outside of Swap Force, but in some aspects they even get on the same level because SF at least had a sense of progression and scale while this just throws you places because convenient.
BUT, when TFB uses its own brand of meta and humor, it's awesome. Jokes like Pop Fizz respawning, or the amazing cynism of the Abandoned Amusement Park's announcer, and some of the visual gags are amazing. Quite a shame they're far in between; this game proves Skylanders needs both writing AND plot to work.

In gameplay, the game's great. There are some damage sponge enemies but when both devs did it, it's par for the course. Hitstop is rare, some guys are a *little* too good at their jobs, but there's knockback, there's ways of turning around enemies to exploit their animations, there's really big open arenas most of the time to take advantage of different strategies. Love it, as simple as that is.

Content, I'll wait for later. Want to use Bad Juju in the missions. Though, I'll say straight away, Trouble Town and Calamity City are preeeetty feeling like 'dev late at night's ideas get into the game'. The chicken mission I finished having no idea what I was supposed to do, after frantically hitting them since Sal would randomly stop in places. This game needs patches badly.
