Certain parts require certain crystals, like all the werewolf parts need the undead crystal. Can I just put the undead crystal on and then take it off again without making anything to get the parts? Or do I have to make something?

As far as I can tell, you have to make an Imaginator, unless it already has one on it.

I think if you put the Undead Crystal on the base, then switch to another Skylander, the chest containing the Crystal Exclusive parts should be in your vault

Ok, thank you both. I do have plans for an undead Imaginator, but I just want the werewolf parts for my water sentinel werewolf that I plan to make.

This did not work for me on Xbox One. I had to create a character on the crystal to get the chest to show up.

(Thankfully I have a 3DS and can reset Creation Crystals.)

I can confirm this. You have to create an Imaginator on a crystal to unlock the parts set.

Yes, all parts carry over through files. Not through profiles, though, keep that in mind

Profile on your console, not the game.

It's no different from the majority of modern games. Just a file with "profile data" - saved data which apply to the main menu and/or all of the save files. For instance, Imaginator parts, which is why they're available to all of the save files.

in other words... profiles are linked to save files and crystal parts are linked to the crystal. so you can bring the parts over to any profile save files. but you cant bring save files to other profiles.

Actually, that's not correct. The elemental parts are only unlocked the first time you create a character on a crystal. Taking an already-created Imaginator over to a different profile won't unlock those parts again. You'd need to reset the crystal entirely and create a new character for that to work.

What console are you playing on? Because what CountMoneyBone is saying is completely correct on PS4. You don't even have to claim ownership of the Crystal to unlock the parts, it just has to have an Imaginator on it.
