Pretty much half of the youtubers I subscribed to have either shown the final boss or all boss fights. Most of them never do playthroughs of Skylanders until the third wave.

Okay so here's a few thoughts right now
Game is either a 7 or 8 outta 10 imo
I'll write down more later today

Liked:
  • Crash Bandicoot
  • This game seems really well balanced. I can't say for sure until I try more Skylanders, but it felt like a nice middle ground between SC and TT. Probably not as good as SF and the game does rely on just throwing loads of enemies at you fairly often (though that's a design problem, not balance problem), but it's definitely muuuuch better than SC's weak balance and not as ridiculous as TT's.
  • Speaking of which, nice enemy variety, even if not all the enemies' movesets work.
  • The M.A.P. is really cool. Unfortunately a lot of the good bonus stuff is outright locked until you beat the game, but it is nice to explore and it's just cool seeing all the locations on it.

Disliked:
  • The story is just terrible. I'm sorry, I'm really not invested in Skylanders' story anymore, but it was honestly bad enough to dock a point off the game for me. It's very immature, very rushed, very repetitive, has several big holes and doesn't introduce anything interesting (besides Brain, who is used really terribly, and I bring him up more because he could've been used well because it's interesting how he's the last Ancient and that provides some potential if they actually make him a recurring character).
  • While the M.A.P. is cool, I don't like how there isn't a faster level select screen, fast travel, or the like. It's not annoying to get around the map, for the most part, but it does mean you can't just pick up and play as quickly and if you wanna change levels, you have to go through the M.A.P. and the extra loading involved with that too.
  • the game does rely on just throwing loads of enemies at you fairly often
  • Doomlander battles can drag on sometimes. Not as bad as past TFB bosses but it really does feel like some could've been shorter.
  • It doesn't help every boss is so formulaic. Literally every Doomlander fight is Doomlander repeats basic attack until health is down to 2/3 -> Kaos activates second phase where one new attack is added -> when Doomlander is at 1/3 health, third phase activates, with either another new attack or more enemies thrown into the mix.

I know it sounds like I dislike it more than I like it, but nope! Overall I'm happy with this game and like more than I dislike. It's just that it's hard to write down stuff I like or it sounds dumb because it's stuff that also applies to the rest of the series...



The story doesn't bother me and for the doomlander
The old characters seem to be OP

Mmm, yeah. Story is kinda bad. But I was right, it is funny, and after Superchargers it is kind of nice to go back to a simpler storyline. If Brain sticks around, he could definitely become one of the best NPCs.

Funny, everyone has forgotten the strange and/or bad choices they made with the villain element changes. Oh well, I do have a question though: Are any of the NPCs Light or Dark element? Or did they leave those two elements without any NPCs. Although pretty much the only characters that would work are Blackout and Spotlight.

What I'm currently gathering is that, gameplay wise, this is one of the best Skylanders, which says to me that instead of wasting dev time on 40+ superfluous characters or an over-elaborate story, they focused on... the actual game for once?

Man, Swap Force is one of my favorite games of all time, as long as this game has a good amount of content to it, I'll be satisfied.

Just wish they'd scrap those dang time attack challenges, though.

Oh my gosh, I loved that little detail they made on Kaos' package. I'll explain it inside spoilers, so people who want a surprise don't know about it.

On the back of the package, instead of the usual "Bring the Skylanders to life" line, the word "Skylanders" is cut by a red pencil, and the word "Kaos" is above it.

It has 10 story Chapters, 3 Adventure Pack Chapters, 10 Elemental Realms (side stages), lots of side missions, quests, and many items to collect. I'm sure you'll have hours of gameplay.

I find it cool that this game mentions things like God , Heaven , angels , demons and Death
They even use the word suck a lot in this game...I know that there is nothing wrong with any of these words but it's just that you wouldn't expect to see these references in a skylanders game.

For those who have the Wii U version of the game, is there a settings button on the file select screen like in Trap Team, or does it not let you switch to off-tv play until after the opening cutscene like in superchargers? I'm debating on whether or not I should fix my tv now and I need as many confirmations as possible.

Wow now I see what all the fuss is about. What a pretentious, self important, whiny, immature, brat. lol...how does this kid even bring himself to draw the same air as us mere mortals? Wow. I couldn't care less that he didn't really like it but man could he be anymore annoying? That was the first and last video I watch from that kid. Acti. should have sent that to someone like Bifrost who would appreciate the gesture and doesn't have the means or access that a lot of us do.

Technically that would be Lorne Balfe (unless they changed composers, which I doubt)... but I guess if TfB is giving him musical direction then it goes something like:
